Dooheed 5 Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 If memory serves me right was once told of a National winner that Didna fly much around its loft ?? Flew when it feckin counted though that's for sure !!
Wiley Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 What you must consider is how he affects your team flying, id give him a single up from 20 plus mile, if he cant find what his wings are for after that he would be removed from my team
harry h Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 Put it in a basket and give it a 5 mile toss if it comes backit's just a lazy *expletive removed*. I've a 2008 hen that does the same when let out at home lands on wires acrossfrom loft done this since she was a yearling just won't fly at home , sits there while all the other birds have a good fly about, but she gets tossed and raced along with all the other birds, shes had a few cards in her lifetime and will be on the road again this year.
VMS Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 Agree with previous comment should be removed from team
walterboswell59 Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 (edited) if it starts pulling your team down andy id give it to the first lorry driver going south and give it 50 miles on its own if it gets home race it and see how it goes but dont let it out with the team only a matter of time before the rest want down to could it be it can see its hen from outside the loft and is just to keen if so let the pair out when the rest are in if you can and he may fly with the henjust a thought pal Edited March 21, 2016 by walterboswell59

Yip . Had this last year with a yearling cock . After doing all the usual stuff ( testing droppings looking for injuries) On a day when I was off put the six of my eight W/H cocks out keeping two yearling cocks in . One being the bassa that wouldn't fly . After getting the other cocks in . Put the bassa yearling and the other cock in a basket and put the basket on the garden table. Let the yearling bassa,s hen out and the other cock . After thirty minutes of flying and treading. Let the big blue cock out he chased the two of them all over the sky and never looked back after that .

William Reid Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 CRUEL BASSA LOL . 1st club 2nd section in the yearling race.

But as I have said too you before they are homing pigeons first and foremost. But for me after the pigeon struggles back from 50 mls it will definitely pull the team down because it will be fcked . JMHO

I have a grizzle hen thats bred from a hen that scored from France last year and I'd be lucky to get her to fly to the house roof never mind France. spends her time sitting on the loft whilst the other birds do all the flying.
andy Burgess Posted April 8, 2016 Author Report Posted April 8, 2016 "up-date" , i rested the bird for 4 days , no loft flying with others . then for 3 days or so , threw him up 20 minutes before the others were due in . i was lucky to get 10 minutes out of him each time . so walked down the street with him and threw him up there . he joined the others and flew the full 20 minutes . has been doing a full hour the last week , had 1 x 10 miler and was 2nd to trap . so will keep an eye upon him , hopefully he will see the 2nd race if he continues to improve and the weather is favourable
andy Burgess Posted May 14, 2016 Author Report Posted May 14, 2016 a further up-date , he,s still known as "lazy" and has to be chased out the loft , however does now fly for around an hour twice a day . has had 2 races and coming ok . showed up this weekend to be 3rd club , so a little patience seems to have paid off ,,,,, so far
