ally mac Posted March 16, 2016 Report Posted March 16, 2016 Took 31 hens to 8 mile today. Put them up into a beautiful blue sky. They went way up high and circled for a few minutes. Must have been about 1/4 mile away when I saw them break up and there was percy diving after one. it started diving but there was an explosion of pigeon bloom when percy hit her, so bright in the sun despite the distance they were from me. Got home and 16 were already back in loft, 8 on loft and few more have worked back in. Missing 3 from the 31. Need to find new tossing point I think. Not easy, hope other 2 work back in. Not the best start to training.

There are no built up areas near Ally, he lives in Oban. He has to start training early to get them through the mountains before he even reaches the rest of his club mates.

peter pandy Posted March 18, 2016 Report Posted March 18, 2016 Electric fences are legal and the humane way to safeguard our birds from predatory animals. The shock does not kill or injure only gives them a fright so they dont return this is due to the one second pulse emanated from the energiser.

Usually they sense it and keep away, but especially after being zapped.

ally mac Posted March 19, 2016 Author Report Posted March 19, 2016 Took 30 odd cocks away today, took them a couple of mile past Taynuilt where had the bad toss on Tuesday. Most were back home in the loft before we got back and another 5 arrived as we did. A lot happier with that.
