yeboah Posted July 31, 2015 Report Posted July 31, 2015 Let my birds out at just the back of 8 this morning split into two groups and went to dots in the heavensGot on with cleaning loft etc briefly looking to see all was ok One group finally returned after 30 minutes but the others dissapeared from view Got a large group back at 9-10 and called them all in ,I knew they were not all there Got 2 singles back of ten o'clock shortly followed by a group of five ,four belonging to me the other a stranger not race rubbered or ets and fresh as paint ,I knew then they had tagged someone's trainers Just before I headed of the back of eleven to my cousins funeral ,two more singles arrived minutes apart this was 11amBlue cock minus his ets ,I trained them the last two days and have the printout He arrived from yesterday's toss at 12-19-05Yet he comes home after loft exercise within 2 half hours with his ring offNot Happy is an understatement The bird that returned with my 4 at 10'oclockRing number GB15R31194

paddymac Posted July 31, 2015 Report Posted July 31, 2015 Low lifes that shouldn't be in the sport, the R ring is a louella bred Yb.
Walter swanston Posted July 31, 2015 Report Posted July 31, 2015 I have just spoken to Michael. This is hard to accept, here is a fancier who puts himself out each season to provide a safe haven for other fanciers birds and eventually sees them home. He then puts his own birds out to range and one pigeon returns with its ETS ring stolen.Would'nt it be ironic if the thief is a fancier Michael has helped in the past.
Novice Posted July 31, 2015 Report Posted July 31, 2015 If I read this correctly then the pigeon disappeared, entered another loft and returned within 2.5 hours. That suggests the ring thief is close by you.
Valiant Fifer Posted July 31, 2015 Report Posted July 31, 2015 Yes a think i know what happenened there m8, shocking !That unfortunately is another sign of the times we live in. Feeel for u mick hope the pigeon goes on to breed some winners for you though!
Guest stb- Posted July 31, 2015 Report Posted July 31, 2015 on another note i have in the past found 2 ets ring on my loft floor which had brocken at the hinge part , dont know if they had been opend up to much or just a fault . Could be its been faulty like mine and fell off ?? not a lot of time frame for a bird to excersise then go into a strange loft have its ring off and return . not saying it hasnt but unusual for a young one to enter a loft so quickly
Delboy Posted July 31, 2015 Report Posted July 31, 2015 on another note i have in the past found 2 ets ring on my loft floor which had brocken at the hinge part , dont know if they had been opend up to much or just a fault . Could be its been faulty like mine and fell off ?? not a lot of time frame for a bird to excersise then go into a strange loft have its ring off and return . not saying it hasnt but unusual for a young one to enter a loft so quickly I wouldn't think it was taken from it Mick in such a short time but who knows these days If its unikon rings then they must get 2 clicks when putting them on as they can loosen quite easily imo.
THE FIFER Posted July 31, 2015 Report Posted July 31, 2015 there is a double click on the rings always make sure they are used,
yeboah Posted July 31, 2015 Author Report Posted July 31, 2015 there is a double click on the rings always make sure they are used,All were 100% double click
Darnaway Posted July 31, 2015 Report Posted July 31, 2015 I made the mistake with ETS rings on my old birds as I had only clicked them once instead of the required twice and thankfully one of my fellow fanciers pointed it out on race marking night so it is a possibility it may have came detached ?

It prob broken like my 2 did before . But the ring stealing does go on and thats sh** .Every one who gets a birds returned from mick can send him down an ets ring as a thank you gesture .
Roland Posted July 31, 2015 Report Posted July 31, 2015 Why would anyone STEAL a ET Ring. Can't use it, so waste of time. Mind to be honest YOU would never have known it had gone into another's loft. Small price to pay for the knowledge eh! Of course.

Guest stb- Posted July 31, 2015 Report Posted July 31, 2015 yes but that is up to the person doing the rings as it would come up as registered to another owner, not really archie theres ets systems up for sale all the time with 20 ring 50 rings 10 rings etc i doubt many will bother to de register the used ones before selling on loads of second hand rings about and not just the pinched ones . Not so long ago it was the anti ets boys who were supposedly taking rings of birds aswell
