BLACK W F Posted September 29, 2013 Report Posted September 29, 2013 Nah stating the obvious there are we . As regards of the race programme it should be postal votes cause I dare say the majority of the members in the snfc are OAP,s and maybe through either health or financial reasons are unable to travel .lets stop thinking about advantages and put our dying hobbie at the fore front and do what's best for our pigeons not some s ego,s JMHOwell said Robbie but they don't want that the few want to control the majority only fair way is a postal ballot
hotrod Posted September 29, 2013 Report Posted September 29, 2013 Deary fook!!! Ypres??? Distance,DISTANCE you hear them cry, thats what sorts the men frae the boys?????? Ypres 380miles tae the fechan Stuart?? Nobody I have spoken to has a problem in the south wae the short race frae Ypres. Handy for the yearlings you wish to test? Dont think secta has such a bad record from it either? Think we would like to see a return to the traditional west cos thats the route our birds are on but if thats not pos then we will have to race from whereever the popular opinion takes us. Give another 5years and we can have the meeting in a phone box at the end of the presidents streetSteve I was meaning from that direction , Ypres, liege for the gold cup and a further one for the longest race , the diff emcee from racing western France to racing from Belgium was what I was going on about that's all mate . As I've already stated Ypres race prob has best returns and variation in winners, most if not all section winners are high up in open result .that to me speaks volumes for any race and if it were western France with great returns /racing I would be wanting that too . I stay in the real west of Scotland but I don't moan about where I stay I just get on it.
hotrod Posted September 29, 2013 Report Posted September 29, 2013 well said Robbie but they don't want that the few want to control the majority only fair way is a postal ballotTotally agree with postal votes for race points / program's as the true majority will get what they want rather than who turns up in their droves to push something through at AGM .

clockman Posted September 29, 2013 Report Posted September 29, 2013 It's the President's prerogative to choose the Venue of the meeting, i think it should stay that way. jmo. Its a rule (9) its the committee that determines the venue for all meetings. It was never brought up when i was on the committee tho,
hotrod Posted September 29, 2013 Report Posted September 29, 2013 Ye the results show that Stuart, just not sure that its the distance thats giving good returns rather than the direction We could try for a season ,can't be any worse than the last two longest races , disasters both of them , yet the snrpc went on there own to Troyes ,let go 86 birds and had over 50 birds home At last info i got Now that's brill from over 600 miles .
BLACK W F Posted September 29, 2013 Report Posted September 29, 2013 alan our snfc rep from Aberdeen goes down to midweek meetings and doesn't get home till well after midnightimagine the guys further north going to any midweek meetingsthen having to work the next day im afraid at some shu or snfc meetings members from up here would have to take time off workthen there is the expence I worked out train costs to the shu showit would of cost me £73 to get there so would expect the snfc meeting to cost around the sameyou,ll get for £18 as your 55 :emoticon-0140-rofl:
JohnQuinn Posted September 29, 2013 Report Posted September 29, 2013 I that's rich its good while it suits you John wonder if your opinion would be the same if it was in Aberdeen I think not selfish comes to mind Disappointed you would level that accusation against me Alan. The meeting was in Stenhousemuir last year and I was there working at the front door. If it was in Lerwick I would still go and help out if needed. The rules may say the committee choose the Venue but 4/5 years on the committee I was TOLD where it would be and was quite happy to go along with that, as I would be any other year at any other venue. ATB John.
DJWa Posted September 29, 2013 Report Posted September 29, 2013 you,ll get for £18 as your 55 :emoticon-0140-rofl: getting there alan but not quite yet :emoticon-0136-giggle:
Delboy Posted September 29, 2013 Report Posted September 29, 2013 There should be voting cards sent out to the members . Then there is no need to change where the agm is held. All members could have a say/vote on the major topics of the agm without attending.

I totally agree with postal voting and have stated publicly (in Lanarkshire) that any Big decisions or controversial ones, should be decided by a postal vote, or by e-mail if that is what suits the individual member. We would then get a true reflection of the MAJORITY of fanciers opinions/wishes on the various subjects.

peter pandy Posted September 29, 2013 Report Posted September 29, 2013 Postal Voting !!!! What would the sheep do then ??. Cannot see the disrupters wanting postal votes as it would ruin their day out.
gulkie Posted September 29, 2013 Report Posted September 29, 2013 If a lot of the SNFC members were honest with their self .I go to the national meeting Because it is in my area and would not travel for 2hrs to go to any meeting and I'm notAlone , totally agree with postal votes.at the meetings if a certain area want somethingThey turn up in the bus loads postal votes would stop that. MO.
dal2 Posted September 29, 2013 Report Posted September 29, 2013 Postal Voting !!!! What would the sheep do then ??. jonl6280 Posted September 29, 2013 Report Posted September 29, 2013 I say have a postal vote . End off
geordie1234 Posted September 29, 2013 Report Posted September 29, 2013 Postal votes imo are the way forward and the most sensible thing to do?
Henrik Posted September 29, 2013 Report Posted September 29, 2013 Aye well if you want postal votes then you,ll all have to get off your butts n come to the AGM, wherever its held and put your hands up for it oh and dont forget to put in a properly worded proposal before the cut off date. So I would imagine that will put paid to the postal vote debate eh

geordie1234 Posted September 29, 2013 Report Posted September 29, 2013 IMHO the voting procedure is the least of there worries...... After DRINKER GATE I went home totally put off after being baked in a greenhouse
bibendium Posted September 29, 2013 Report Posted September 29, 2013 why dont the SNFC just update their website to allow online votes , simples cuts out the need for postal votes.
geordie1234 Posted September 29, 2013 Report Posted September 29, 2013 why dont the SNFC just update their website to allow online votes , simples cuts out the need for postal votes. That shouldn't be a problem? Maybe they should use the vast amount of funds they have at there disposal?
walterboswell59 Posted September 29, 2013 Report Posted September 29, 2013 why dont the SNFC just update their website to allow online votes , simples cuts out the need for postal votes.thats the best idea yet m8 just put in your snfc no and vote sounds good to me

peter pandy Posted September 29, 2013 Report Posted September 29, 2013 I was always of the opinion that when proposals are put forward at meetings the proposer has at first the reason he wishes a change in the Status Quo and the construction of the change to members who may not see the reason behind the proposal, also giving the body of the hall the opportunity to voice their dissent or otherwise, The proposer when summing up in answering dissenting questions then has the last word before voting takes place.Postal votes takes away what can be meaningful and perhaps elaborate discussion and I for one am totally against it.The sheep I mentioned in an earlier post are those members who don't know which way to vote but notice a friend has put his hand up and do likewise, The disrupters are those members who don't wish to listen to discussion and just get on with the vote because they have made their mind up beforehand.I post from first hand experience and grown ups don't come into the equation DAl2.
