a vet has checked the birds and has completed their condition . so that in it,s self is good enough for me. would be of same opinion if i had birds in basket.as for law suits what a load of crap.you would only need a few doo,s out the contaminated baskets to be clocked it to hit that in the head.as for lanarkshire having a disaster.it will be as tough as it always is for fanciers in the west with a west wind. as for the post by transporter that the doo,s will be looked after 110% .A 110% is well known as a figure of speech.B going by the condition of birds when they get home from a s.n.f.c race you know that birds have been well looked after .dare i say it yes 110%

For what its worth it's my understanding a watering can was purchased by A Mr A McKee from the garden center to help fill drinkers this was not the problem. The problem was an unknown container or drum was used to assist to help make filling the watering can easier.

Anyway whats been done is done accidents happen lessons to be learned and a line to be drawn under this unfortunate circumstance all birds seem to be in good health.

good luck to all

I spoke with Phil Lynch and Andrew Garven yesterday, AFTER the vet had visited the transporters and examined the birds in those baskets. The Vet could not have been more complimentary about the condition of the birds and was satisfied that whatever substance the FEW!! birds ingested had done no harm to them. They were bright eyed, showing no signs of "hanging", vomiting or any other indication that the birds were less than healthy and fit to race. A written report will be sent from this vet and will be available for fanciers to read on the SNFC website, probably by the middle of the week.

You can argue all you like about what YOU think should have happened but offering birds back to fanciers who were back in the house was clearly NOT an option.

Be assured if i had wanted to withdraw my birds they would have been identified and taken out of the baskets whether sealed or otherwise. Their MY doos and it was MY decision to leave them there, the same option was available to everyone still present but Tam was correct when stating NOT ONE fancier asked for their birds to be removed from these baskets.

IMO the SNFC committee have acted in an exemplary fashion in this difficult situation and have taken ALL reasonable and available measures to them to ensure the birds are ok.

I have just re read this entire thread and the most significant thing i notice is that those who are most Critical weren't even present, that however is typical of Fanciers everywhere, they ALL know better than the men who have to take decisions and would be more decisive, correct in every decision they made and above the very Criticism they so willingly dish out at every opportunity. Mind you they never put their hands up to take on a position where they could actually have an input to the running of the sport, however that's no surprise either!!!

just goes to show how far behind we are up here.can you imagine the n.f.c or the b.i.c.c lads marking birds in a greenhouse with no facilities.what a joke.there should only be 1 national organisation in scotland, end of story.brand new top of range transporter and beter prize money if this happened.

There is only one national the breakaways are not a national with there birdage it's only a small fed race

The original in all cases is the true one , any others should be classed as specialist clubs just same as there is nfc then theres the north east national the midlands national etc which are only specialist club races

One race marks in a green house in the middle ov the summer, never mind the major .*expletive removed* ups expletive remove, the other is a well organised well run the mind boggles  give me established chaos any day lol

IMO the use of 'private' marking stations is one of issues that prevents the SNFC having the flexibility to bring forward or push back marking days to take account of weekend weather forecasts. Pigeon clubs with suitable facilities offer a much more flexible alternative. Also if there is to be a hall hire fee, better in a pigeon club's bank account than a private concern's.

The other flexibility issue (for channel races) is the continued use of channel ferries, and its rigid booking system. There is a rail alternative which allows the booking to be used on any train on any of 3 consecutive days which e.g. allows marking to be brought forward or pushed back up to 3 days. JMO

Whats wrong with Bonnybridge club for SNFC marking, its bigger than Bo'ness where we marked?

Aye looks much better for tomorrow, though the forecast i seen made it look possible with a Lib around 11am with the north clearing about 7pm.

As much as i hate Hold Overs and am working tomorrow, i'd be happy for them to wait and give them a clear run up the road tomorrow with an early Lib.
