Forgot to add got a bird off Davie Allison direct out his fed topper from Ypres

Also George and Gareth Rankin have bred me birds for my stock loft

Jock Alston has also given me out his stock loft hopefully in the next few years these birds blended together will get me scoring more often in the snfc races

When you meet honest doo men they will give you there best

My auld man never sold a doo in his life and I will be the same

I'd give pick off my loft. Some give you youngsters big enough to fly the longest race... :emoticon-0138-thinking so you know that they didn't really want you to have them. BUT they then can say 'They gave you sommat'. And many won't part with a cock bird, as they are afraid you might breed winners from him ... Yes I know a hen bird is a very important part of your loft, Indeed a hen is more genuine and honest than a cock bird, and shine through ONon hard days and at the distance.

Will have been racing the doos 40 years next year and still get us big a buzz on a Saturday as i did all those years ago ,think when that feeling leaves me will be time to call it a day ,have always been one of the first to congratulate a winner ,but have to say these last few years am now developing a winning mentality perhaps i feel if i am going to win a national its time to think of No 1,at the same time will always gift my best pigeons to new starters like i have done again this year, all my best birds were gifts this is something i feel is sadly lacking today ,I attended a presentation a few weeks back and presented a young lad with a trophy he had won along with his father,i spoke to the lad later on and i will go out of my way to breed him some youngsters of what i consider to be my very best in the hope that one comes good and he gets as much pleasure out of this wonderful sport as i have since my early days :emoticon-0157-sun:

well done mike i think this is what the sport lacks nowadays ther's another thread on the go regarding the entries for the gold cup race and i for one think that the majority of the fancy in scotland don't have an abundance of 500 ml stock lines in their lofts and if your not friends with this one or that one the chances of getting some 500 ml blood into your loft unless you pay £50+ for a youngster and in this current climate i just can't see this being possible so maybe if there were more fanciers like yourself that got fanciers more interested in long distance racing then things would start to look up for the snfc sorry for going off topic

Thanks ,The way i see things is once i have bred the first round for myself ,i am more than willing to let others have youngsters as it is the easiest thing to let an egg hatch that may do someone a turn instead of breaking them ,it also keeps the breeders happy and is easier on them if not being split, agree with you in the present climate not easy for the working man paying crazy money when they should be available for the carriage :emoticon-0157-sun:
