REDCHEQHEN Posted September 21, 2011 Report Posted September 21, 2011 If you can find any ! I haven't been to a chemist that stocks it (or will even order it in for you) ebay or internet chemists (Hyperdrug stocks it - but its way over the odds pricewise - should only be £1 for 25g)
harky Posted September 21, 2011 Report Posted September 21, 2011 Watching a programme last night and it was said that its used for fungal and yeast infections, when mixed with glycerol it makes fire. All this on a survil programme(man ,women ,wild).

Kyleakin Lofts Posted September 21, 2011 Report Posted September 21, 2011 http://www.potassium-permanganate-online.com/how-to-order.html?gclid=CI-0jLfvzaMCFan-2AodkCMdbw If you are still interested. I use it in the bath water. I don't put it in the drinking water.
just ask me Posted September 22, 2011 Report Posted September 22, 2011 tiny pinch does the job not good to use too much
Guest Owen Posted September 22, 2011 Report Posted September 22, 2011 It is a good distinfectant and was widely used in the past to counteract lice etc. These days there are far better ways of doing the job.
Rooster J. Cogburn Posted September 22, 2011 Report Posted September 22, 2011 Used it around 10 years ago in the drinking water.Didn't really think it had a very positive effect on the pigeons
Novice Posted September 22, 2011 Report Posted September 22, 2011 In addition to anything else it does it supplies the birds with trace quantities of Manganese.
Guest IB Posted October 8, 2011 Report Posted October 8, 2011 Was talking to the pharmacist this morning, she mentioned someone had been in asking for this for their pigeons - they no longer stock it. We had a bit of a discussion about it, as I only remember it from the 60's when some used it in drinking water and others in bath water. I can't recall why they did this, but when the topic was aired on the forum a few years back, I thought it was for killing disease rather than insects. Pharmacist confirms it was sold to humans as cure for the likes of Athletes Foot, caused by a Fungus, so it kills microbes, not lice.
Guest Dorset-lad Posted October 8, 2011 Report Posted October 8, 2011 Thanks to all who replied reading between the lines its not worth using regards Brian
billt Posted October 8, 2011 Report Posted October 8, 2011 Thanks to all who replied reading between the lines its not worth using regards Brian Strange how some things have different uses, We have only ever used it as an coagulant for cuts on animals and cords on new-born puppies, so it seems strange to me to use it in drinking water
greenlands Posted October 8, 2011 Report Posted October 8, 2011 One thing that I have learned about condis. You won't get anything better for treating sweaty feet, learned that off an old timer when I was a fitter on the local coke ovens some 40 + years ago.
andy Posted October 8, 2011 Report Posted October 8, 2011 I've used it in the pigeons bath for 30 years every week, cheaper and just as good as fancy smelling tubs of bath salts with pics of pigeons.. ;)
Wiley Posted October 8, 2011 Report Posted October 8, 2011 i remember at least 15 years ago old fanciers dunking pigeons heads fully emerged under the water with this in a bucket, to cure respiratory infections.
