At the marking station there was quite a bit of discussion regarding when the SNFC Eastbourne birds will be liberated, some said Saturday, while the majority reckoned it would be a Sunday liberation, and others felt that they may be held till Mondayhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0138-thinking.gif

they should hold as long as it takes....and believe me don't grumble if they do. our nrcc 'conveyor' liberated the fraserburgh pigeons last sat despite forecasts of rain moving in and blocking the way home. returns are reported at 50% (according to nrcc)....amongst the fancy it is put at nearer 30%. it would not be unreasonable IMO to speculate that perhaps 1000 birds are dead.

Last Saturday it rained continuously in Stonehaven (about 45 miles south of Fraserburgh. Eased off about 17:00 for an hour then started again. It wasn't that heavy most of the time but wet none the less.

thanks...i've written a personal letter to the nrcc chairman....but not (yet) made a formal complaint. however i don't want to hijack this thread which is about a scottish race....my only point is,my new motto 'never moan about holdovers'

Just watched the BBC weather forecast for Sunday, although the South and Mid England are expected to have a good sunny day with high temperatures, it also showed a band o f heavy rain right across the North of England and South of Scotland, all dayhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0138-thinking.gif

Will they take the chance and liberate knowing this?, as the early part of next week, does not look too goodhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0156-rain.gif

I know that the weather changeshttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/egyptian.gif

This band of rain on Sunday looks to be moving east, dying away by the evening time so hopefully we will get a lib tomorrow, even if that means a later liberation than normal for a race of approx 400 miles.

Monday looks like there will be a weather front chasing them up the country but with Southerly winds forcast we should get some sort of a liberation within the next 2 days.

would find this remark very strange, tomorrow dose not favor our lanarkshire doos one bit, with west in the wind and it been a certainty that the west will be nowhere in the national also.

if this had to happen there would not be many birds timing into the lanarkshire federation, they would be flying at least 30mile into a head wind, giving them no chance of making it, and of those that did

it would be the old plodder that would turn up. this is a problem that the lanarkshire need to address at the next agm, and if we went it alone we would have came back up the road a bit for a lib.

this race is getting abused, and i am here only to help the Pilgrims who are concerned about there birds and fairness of what yous are asking the lanarkshire birds to achieve, this should not be put down to a test, as i know there are old plodders in this race that will be going to Claremont in here, and having no value to the race winner at all. as i can see the velocity possibly being 900 into the lanarkshire area i only hope them in charge think of what they are doing. and if it not favorable for all bring them home :emoticon-0126-nerd: bigda here for the pilgrims

I,m thinking you should start a wee club in Lanarkshire to race out of Kelso every week Danny, maybe this would keep you happy. You could race on a Sunday morning and only if it was nice n sunny with a little East in the wind. If the weather turned nasty with a bit of a Westerly you would have the option to bring them back to Harthill. Anyone else interested in this kind of forward looking and progresive club please contact Big-Gub@pigeonbasics.org by PM.
