alec guinness Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 Posted wrong alec ,ben is my cousin his father was my uncle ,ben could certainly fly a doo . yes mate top fancier. great stuff.

aye ready Posted December 8, 2010 Author Report Posted December 8, 2010 Regarding Louella Greats ,The late Louis Massarella stated if he thought there were another solway king he would gladly walk to Annan for itphoto of SOLWAY KING on the website along with all the other greats
billt Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 Regarding Louella Greats ,The late Louis Massarella stated if he thought there were another solway king he would gladly walk to Annan for itYep, Solway King SURP55S4987, I had a grizzle G/Daughter from Louella in 1975, although they have cross bred for the last 24yrs. I've still got 12 grizzles and she was the only griz. I had so they are tough cookies
walterbmasson Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 I know someone that bought six beautifull black splashed mealy cocks and hens to go with them of the biozards family from louella. The truth is they couldnae fly over the roof of the house they all went into the garden after trying with them for a few years.I spoke to him last week and he still talks about how dissapointing they pigeons were.Just the way the ball bounces i suppose, i think most of us have done it at some time. YES YOUR RIGHT but they were the birds that crossed well up in fraserburgh for the ritchie and whyte and myself and i am sure some aberdeen fanciers has them to thank alec rae had them also but as you say the solway king bird was a gold mine for masseralla when bob whyte was down with me in 1974 he was paired to 4 hens at 17 years of age he was in about a 8x4 wire cage at the door of a prefab beside where the snowball was in a glass bottle the rest of there birds were like a bunch of broiler hens we were walking through them and picking up any you took a fancy to i can tell you at that time there was no guarntee it was the real breed you was paying for
frank-123 Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 just wonder if they stopped all these fancy strains and bought national winners and multiple combine winners paired them togetherfrom british and irish winners winner to winner rather thanjules severi and roland janssen's ...etc
billt Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 Dead right there Walter, on the pedigree I've got, Solway King is a '55 bird and his son is a 1971 bird
