greenlands Posted March 18, 2020 Report Posted March 18, 2020 SHU Having considered advice from the Scottish Government, the SHU can confirm their thought that the Corona virus will get worse before it gets better. We therefore advise all members and organisations that pigeon racing will be postponed until 1st May 2020 The advice also indicates that gatherings should not take place therefore pigeon sales, breeder buyers events etc should not go ahead until further notice The SHU will endeavour to keep fanciers abreast of current information and recomendations from the Scottish Office
andy Posted March 18, 2020 Report Posted March 18, 2020 We therefore advise. Doesn’t mean you have to accept. If the correct government procedures are being adhered to at the time of basketing then there is no reason why racing has to be cancelled providing your driver and or convoyer are happy to do so and carry out the required hygiene stipulated at the said time. This however could or can change at very short notice, but .*expletive removed* sake it shouldn’t be Armageddon just yet!

bobandson Posted March 19, 2020 Report Posted March 19, 2020 There is no way any responsible federation would put their drivers and convoyers at risk so think of what you write on the site other people log on to this site so please. Think before you write on the site
JCN Posted March 19, 2020 Report Posted March 19, 2020 Explain how anyone is at risk!? Two guys in a lorry.
bobandson Posted March 19, 2020 Report Posted March 19, 2020 The reason is that when your drivers and convoyers pick up birds at fed clubs they are handling crates that other people handling it is called crosscontamulation and most clubs put crates onto the transporter themselves and if drivers have shift crates to make more room then they can pick up the virus it can live on most metal or wood material for hours that is what the government says you'd in sport bobandson
easygaun Posted March 19, 2020 Report Posted March 19, 2020 How is this going to effect the nationalsI think you can forget about them, infact I don't think there will be any racing this year at all. They say racing is postponed to 1st May and then that will be extended until who knows when.Glad I just paired up last weekend, there will be a lot of china eggs going under them.
Roland Posted March 19, 2020 Report Posted March 19, 2020 The reason the schools were being urged, by government, scientist and welfare organisations to stay open is for the Kids and the younger generation to get an immunity! Its called 'Herd Immunity' which we should have done regards our pigeons over the last 50 years or so - The older ones, like me etc. won't have the power, in the main, to survive the Virus. So it is merely a need for future generations prevailing. Indeed very many youngsters are no doubt infected and gaining immunity. It is up to the older, more feeble and ill old agers like to take precautions and hope etc. I'm like most are in a lockdown mode. Yes, I will have to go out once in a while...Maybe to get away from the missis whinging about staying in lol. I wonder just how one would, or if, if some have their way, will feel! if they take a dose home and loved ones, neighbours etc. suffer or even die! Could, would one just shrug their shoulders and say 'Ok I was unthinking and selfish ... so what'! Before one tries to jump the fence, shouldn't they check the height!? Mind in all honesty I will say that Most don't take an selfish attitude, just a great disappointment if they can't race their beloved pigeons.
