Totally agree with postal votes for race points / program's as the true majority will get what they want rather than who turns up in their droves to push something through at AGM .

Steve I was meaning from that direction , Ypres, liege for the gold cup and a further one for the longest race , the diff emcee from racing western France to racing from Belgium was what I was going on about that's all mate . As I've already stated Ypres race prob has best returns and variation in winners, most if not all section winners are high up in open result .that to me speaks volumes for any race and if it were western France with great returns /racing I would be wanting that too . I stay in the real west of Scotland but I don't moan about where I stay I just get on it.

The good doc had it in his back yard last year hoping for support to his proposal ,only prob having it in certain areas is you get the majority voting thingy going , like the solway boys they want to race from the west side of France, just to suit them , the best race for returns since its inception is Ypres , but a lot don't want it because it doesn't suit them , have the AGM in some of these areas and you could have racing from the moon .expletive remove., I would say one year in fife one in Edinburgh, one in Lanark and one in Stirling . Areas it's not want you want cem but better than it is now imho

Totally disagree with you on the channel racing , IMHO if this were o start up again yes have racing out to coast. But leave the overseas racing to the nationals , I've always said I would do away with the inland races from the national program . Young bird racing I'm not bothered what races were set up I don't bother racing mines.

Spoke with John Quinn last night and he is trying to get a wee informal meeting up and running with all heads/ presidents. Of each fed ,if n,west fed are interested contact John ,he's on here . The more the merrier .

Our club started having presentation night when myself and matt Luke joined about 10 years ago, then wee joe musleh took over running it after matt , does a great job his good lady puts on a buffet , but if it wasn't for non members it would be a washout , prob about half don't bother there *expletive removed* tuning up , I've missed one since it started , when I was I'll. it's held in February in the old kilpatrick bowling club ,right next to erskine bridge . And about £6 per ticket .

My ex bro in law used to pay for tips from a professional , he won every time, I told him to let me know when the next tip was to run , he phoned one day at work , I told everybody about it everyone put money on it even guys that don't bet , well it came second. And they never spoke to me the rest of the week , there's no such a thing , it's all crooked.

Green eyed monsters ? My wife asked me last night after watching the highlights of the Singapore GP. Why are they booing the winner ? I said its because he wins so much ,it's the same in any sport , Just the same in pigeons I'm afraid if you win more than your share you are either at it ,or talked about behind your back . I thought that there would be a race today around 10/11am with southerly winds , the last of the bad weather was through my way and was to clear by mid pm ,but it has been nice here since 9.30 am . Can't understand this holdover crap at these silly times . But who am I ?

Ps I also mentioned a few years ago at a national committee meeting about giving the birds grit in baskets if they are in them for a long time , I actually bought a big bag and gave it to the lorry driver , I know what mines are like if I run out of it during the winter , 2/3 days and they go mad for it . Any thoughts on this ?

I agree 100%. Even when I train my pigeons I never overcrowd my baskets , in fact a twenty bird basket I only put max12 , and a 10 bird. I put in a max. 6 , we put 27 in our Geraldy crates ,then when we get out a bit we put in 25 ,then 22. For the longest races , I would like to see max 25. ,then 21 Then Down 18 . , its amazing when you go to first couple of young bird races they cram in probably 30 in each crate at times , and we wonder how we lose them and catch all sorts .

Happened o a fancier in my old club nearly 30 years ago , bought a few birds a few years on and bang an outbreak , traced it all back to this pair of birds , he hot rid of everything associated with them and the loft was fine again . It could Finnish you off easily .
