Getting 2 Nationals The Gither.
JOHNSEE replied to hotrod's topic in Clubs/Organisations Topics & Events
I dont believe that, that would be the best way forward, what we have is two seperate organisations, both these are governed by the majority of their members, they decide what each would like to do,I feel the way to test the water would be for members of each club to put it before their members at their A.G.M. and if in favour then a committee from each to meet and report back to their respective clubs there must be common ground any any differences ironed out, this ofcourse takes time, but I feel would be to the benefit of all national flyers whether middle distance or longer.....start the journey....NOW -
Walter having followed some of your comments over the past few weeks on various posts you do some complaining when people are doing their very best, the best as they see it for the benefit of the birds. If the controller of the birds finds that birds can go thats his decision,if he held back to a later time because tom, dick, and harry was working and the birds run into bad weather YOU....would be the first to complain, fanciers who take on these positions do so,normaly under duress and would really just like to race their birds, but give in at the A.G.M. I would bet you wont take the job on next year.....or will you....? happy racing.....good returns to all.

if they cant get them home from inland races should they be sending them to channel races....?
-
please enlighten me which one am I...?
-
which one of the two that you mentioned are you....? I think I could guess....
-
sorry I dont understand what you mean...?
-
was it the number of birds that was down or was it due to the number of members competing....?
-
congratulations again David timing your bird when you did,I see your comments regarding being unable to carry on as is or channel racing could be finished.....my thoughts would go back to marking day on tuesday, there was not one fancier that I talked with had any other views than the race was going to be a killer for birds in the kind of heat that was forcast, and yet did they reduce the number of birds they sent, did they believe that all there birds could cope with such conditions,I honestly believe that many birds are being sent to national races have little or no chance of winning, for that I blame the fancier of to-day who have to enter large numbers of birds to secure a few positions and add to the many that go missing each year,Iagree with you that racing cant carry on in its present format perhaps this is open for debate on another topic....cheers...JBC/..
-
your claim....Quote..having spoken to a highly respected convoyer...."he stated that some birds never get to the water with 20 birds per basket" I would raise this question is this in his report....if not why not ? if it is then let the fanciers read this report and then crucify the powers that ignored this vital part of the convoyers report.

Missing young bird GB-13-J-33331 DUNDEE AREA

excellent performance to add to a super seasons flying, also congratulations to Gavin fergusson also having another great season....Forfar is fast becoming the hot bed for national racing cant wait to compete......
-
if they are not flying as a kit they are not ready for trainig,(can you imagine what they would be like being released from a transporter with a few thousand pigeons around them.....ouch!
-
depends if you wish to save the young birds from certain winning cocks in which case you would select the hen you wish to run him with, you may also have selected certain birds for the longer races, again I would select hens that you sure are going to be there later in the season.I never believe in letting birds select there on mates (I know of at least 1 great national flyer who selected mates for a small number of his best birds and the rest were allowed to select there own)it worked for him,it is less time consuming letting them select there own.

Yes....there was a strain called GITS the birds often had feathery legs, some fanciers used to trim them off because trying to get the rubber race ring off the birds proved difficult and you were left with a handful of feathers....if you google the strain gits pigeons see what comes up....JBC/..

If This Young Bird Dropped At Your Loft, What Would You Do?
JOHNSEE replied to andyyy's topic in Young Birds
If it was an old bird I would dispose of it.....But no it is a young bird who for whatever reason has had its tel.ring removed,if it was mine I would let it settle back in the loft remember it returned after 2 weeks once it is flying out with the rest of the team.....toss it single up from at least 25miles and watch....if it returns it may turn into something good if it does not return you have lost nothing....
