  4. Whats the gripe with Wuldon,he has carried the flag for Scotland(very successfully)he has also kept pigeonbasic members very well up to date with any information he finds, various links etc.like he says if you require any clarity contact them that run the race in Arona Tenerife......best of luck to all remaining birds.....JBC/..
  5. Just what youngsters need,a good start in life, very healthy looking young birds......JBC/..
  6. Its nice to see local clubs recognising their members performances from national racing,if more clubs did this it would help up the birdage for national races......congratulations.(cracking hen by the way)
  7. Sorry Del,as I have never seen your previous regarding breaking points and fatigue factors, can you explain please how this would would work.....thanks...JBC/..
  8. Another superb article, although written over 50 years ago one can see similarities happening here in Scotland, but the decision whether to fly Inland nationals, overseas national,or indeed both is up to each fancier, what I do find is there is more money available to fanciers than back in the sixties,I know costs are high but pro-rata against earnings then and now our birds are better off now than they have ever been.........keep the articles coming Rooster atb.....JBC..
  9. Cant say that I have seen any test results negative or positive in the B.H.W. once you get any info please let us on P.B. know......thanks again....JBC/..
  10. your probably right about good flyers putting the effort in and having good birds but sadly many fanciers on here dont believe that, they are convinced because their winning week in and week out they must have their birds on some form of banned substance....anyway it has been a good topic and has showed up some interesting points......cheers ..JBC.
  11. thanks for that I see that this is from the 2013 rule book....are you aware of any test having been carried out to date ?
  12. I would suggest the best place to start would be the drug testing organization that tested the S.N.F.C. SAMPLES the threshold would depend on when the sample was taken i.e.at basketing for a race or after the race....it is far to complicated for a unqualified person such as myself to really understand.....cheers..JBC/
  13. Hope you have a great time....remember and put some pictures up when you get back.
  14. BREAKING NEWS......After reading a link kindly sent to me by Frank 123 I did not realize that if you introduce testing the organization must have a threshold limit and only if a bird proves positive above the threshold limit can action be taken. It really is away above my head, apparently this is a safeguard against banned substances in the bird from unknown sources....far too much for me to take in but shows that it is not as straight forward as many believe.......JBC/..
  15. P.P. I agree with you as regards the long distance races and time spent in panniers etc.Feel you were a bit hard on those fanciers who fly the shorter/middle distance races, many who have the bloodlines and turnout their birds in superfit condition to win from what you call stupid short/middle distance races. It is whatever your preference may be sort of like those that keep show racers and those that prefer the racing pigeon, those that win are respected for their achievements ........
  16. were these not in short races where they are marked/basketed and liberated in the same day....i.e.very short sprint races?
  17. You may well be correct in what you are saying, but it has been a good topic with plenty of various views put forward, where do you stand should we pursue testing or leave well alone ?......
  18. sorry I am not a toxicologist so therefore I cannot say how long traces of various substances would remain in the blood stream, but if you read tambla 51 post he stated his whole loft was tested.......
  19. I must say that I did not realize that any drug that masks pain is a banned substance....here is a senario for one to ponder one of your birds is attacked by a bop,not to serious but blood is drawn, first thing you do is clean up the wound, perhaps spread on some antiseptic substance, perhaps you take it to vet who because he will probably not have a clue but he will give,at a cost an antibiotic.......BANG goes your banned substance free pigeon, how can you control such things.....you cant most of us would give a injured bird any substance if it relieved the pain.....
  20. substances that mask pain are banned....
  21. quite a list do you know how the I.H.U.are going to police such rules.....are they going to test birds,if so at what level i.e. club, federation,Nationals,Opens. or are just stating that these are banned substances and hope that no one will use them?....cheers
  22. Your right Frank, thats the message that I have tried to get over since this topic started, too many times have I seen various rules passed at club level that were unworkable and just fell by the wayside after a short period of time. One thing that I did notice when reading through the SANPO documents were birds competing from a"One Loft Race"being treated can be given banned substances as it would be deemed fair because all were treated and would therefore be on equal terms....interesting,why dont we just open it right up and let members give their birds anything that they want ? Before I get lambasted for even mentioning such a thing,I dont for a minute believe it would make a difference as to who are winning at present and who are the also rans.....JBC/..
  23. South African National Pigeon Organization...(SANPO) banned substance list as at Sept.2004 I count 386 banned substances, they also list the products that contain these substances, this list was to be updated periodicaly....massive,problems lie ahead if testing is to become the norm, Before adopting a testing policy I feel that it would have be printed and presented to firm of solicitors who in turn would seek the advice of a law firm and let them advise on the likly outcome in a court of law should any members bird tested positive for a banned substance.
  24. Its not possible to say a product is banned simply by the product name,it is in the ingredients that make up the product, some of them may be on the banned substance list.
