there could not be a better example of what is happening to our sport....310.000 euros for a pigeon one year old only ever flown just over 100 miles per race, entered in around seven y/b races.....guess what ? never won any....I rest my case, and save my money. makes you wonder what value would you put on Ron Greens "Breakaway" all those years ago,or indeed some of the birds in the u.k. that win against high birdage week in and week out.....
  6. Hi,Thanks for all your advice, let me add that returning the bird is not an option,I think I will follow a couple ....First one I wont make any rash decision, secondly I will try it in a basket for a few days, and handle it every time I go into the loft to try and show that it has nothing to fear from me......cant do that in the loft as I said it bounces off every wall.....thanks lads will let you know how I get on.......
  7. Hi,can anyone help,I have in the last three days taken delivery of a new bird a three year old hen,the minute you open the loft door you can here her grunt, not only that but she takes off from wall to wall if I go into the section she is in,many years ago when in partnership with my father he would not entertain such a bird in our loft, whats best to do....? I paid quite a bit for her but she is upsetting the whole loft. If bred from are young birds likley to be the same...any help outhere....?
  8. I have spent the last couple of hours reading the most interesting comments on reasons and possible ways to avoid sickness and indeed death to ones birds,I am only returning to the sport after some 17 years,It is my intention never to race young birds,am I right in believing that I would be safer wainting untill breeding from the stock birds I have brought is complete then vacinate both o/birds and young birds together........thanks for some wonderful reading....JBC/..
