  1. Thanks chaps, upvc it is with ply lining hopefully get materials ordered up this week and have a wee project for the holidays. Just need to think about how big now, going to give them plenty space with a decent aviary
  2. Planning on building another loft for the stock doos. Im wondering if UPVC has any draw backs, The zero maintenance is very appealing and it will obviously look the part and last. Just wondering if it has any drawbacks with condensation, humidity etc. Was wondering if its better sheeted with thin ply internally? All thoughts and advice appreciated. Al.

  12. I had a similar experience with a doo from Stuart, Hotrod, I collected a YB, same way bred as his Karens Girl, straight from the nest and it went straight into the loft for stock, never flew out once. I sent it back down to him after 2 years. After a few days I think it was it was let out with his other birds by mistake and it arrived back in Oban the very same day. Couldn't believe it, they are amazing!!!!!!

  14. Ive found in the last few years it is a far better time for me to train last years YBs. they've been in the basket nearly 10 times and ive only dropped 2. It is always harder as the first races approach so I am going to try to get them educated on the way up through the mountains just now and then just worry about getting them fit in the spring hopefully.
  15. True north never changes Danny. magnetic North is always moving, very slowly, but all courses, bearings etc are converted to true north before they are plotted on a chart/map. So nothing to worry about, north will always ne north.
  16. Sorry to hear your news Stuart, may he rest in piece. Al & Sabina

http://www.bto.org/sites/default/files/u196/downloads/rr330.pdf Lot of info on percy, including the paragraph below. The decline in breeding pairs in North Wales is a new phenomenon that may be linked to declines in the prey base; substantial declines have been measured in upland and moorland birds over the last decade (Lovegrove et al.1995). It is possible that changes in the behaviour of pigeon racers may be having an additional effect. In Cumbria, casual observations suggest that there has been a decline in the numbers of racing pigeons and a change in the timing of races, with the race season appearing to start later in the Peregrine breeding season than in previous years (G. Horne, pers. comm.). Changes in the routing and timing of pigeon training and races, as a means of mitigating the effect BTO Research Report No. 330 August 2003 19 of Peregrine predation, were suggested in the report of the UK Raptor Working Group (Anon. 2000). The potential causes for declin
