  7. Worth a wee read, we are not the only ones with a problem with percy etc, Linda Brooks posted in the comments.

  9. Gps is very accurate though not guaranteed, could be up to 20 metres out, as long as it is being used correctly using the correct datum for the chart/map the position is being plotted on.

  15. Chased a sparrow hawk of a doo on Saturday, got it in time. First time they had been out for a couple of months. Was working at plot this afternoon and saw percy go over directly above the loft. Glad I got the doos trained down the road before xmas as never saw a thing for weeks then.

  17. lot 4 £50 Thanks Ian
  18. Nice wee hill for the easter eggs
  19. Im afraid if they don't get up here within a day or two of a race they never do.
  20. Ive found round the clock first, maybe shows them the local area, landmarks etc, then line of flight. Mine are straight into mountains after 10 miles or so. Hoping they will figure it out themselves as they have 40 odd miles of mountains to get through on their on after leaving the fed and club doos. Still experimenting
  21. Ive tried both up here Walter and birds do better after being tossed north south and east. Out to about 10 -20 miles, then down line of flight.
  22. the main thing I think I have found is youngbirds struggled to get through the mountains. had terrible losses pushing the further down the road. seemed to do better as yearlings. also don't just train down the line of flight. working them out north, south and east worked better. if you get some that do it for you stock them and keep trying. it is hard. Al
  23. Im interested in replies to this question. Ive a few in the loft now that have managed but its taking a while.
  24. I learnt a few years ago where the term "Fed up" comes from. A hawk/buzzard etc is termed fed up when it has a full crop and therefore would not be interested in food or flying. If you are fed-up you are sat around doing nothing or bored. When they have a full crop it expands showing a white patch. This signals to their prey they are fed up and no longer a threat for the day.
  25. Heres a pic of some baby barn owls. When I was at my grans house in Arran during the summer we heard some strnge hissing coming from the roof of the old byre. Couldn't figure out what it was, thought maybe a cat or something. Pushed the mobile phone up on a stick and toock a picture. Got a cracking surprise to see these wee things. We spent the fortnight watching the parent flying in and out feeding them
