  1. Im looking for an alloy training crate. Same as the ones on the Glasgow fed lorry. Any ideas where I might find one. Al.
  2. Nightmare pal. I lost all my race team a year and a half ago. There were 17 doos lying dead in the loft and 7 gone completely. Such a sad site. Missed a whole seasons racing.
  3. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Racing-Pigeon-Loft-/261997667066?hash=item3d004722fa Saw this loft on Ebay, looks a great and says they are going to dismantle it.
  4. If you had the chance of a yb from a great doo what would be best choice for stock, passing on genes etc? say a national winner was a cock, would you want a cock or hen from it for your stock loft? Likewise if national winner was hen?

Probably wasn't long before you were up Andy, the real scunner turned out it was the nest mate of malkies hen that was cut in two.

I know a lad that's a service engineer on them, asked if he ever saw dead birds around and he said no. Took a walk up to a farm with 15 or so, walked round them all and never saw a feather on the ground so don't think they are a real concern. However, when I had to move my loft to a field behind my parents house I lost two doos to my fathers wind turbine. It was just a wee one mounted on his house, spinned a lot faster than the big ones. Fortunately it never did what it was supposed to and is gone now.
  7. Fortunately don't need to flag them now. They're flying on their own and landing straight onto loft. Might need a wee reminder not to land on roof occasionally but problem sorted for the moment
  8. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140697841724?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&var=440044830925&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I bought an 11metre extending fishing pole to flag the doos. £27 on Ebay. Worked a treat, doos had got into habit of landing on neighbours roof. After a coulpe of weeks they don't go near houses. Flying for over an hour on their own now, back to loft and trapping in jig time. Well chuffed.
  9. Brian if you click the forums tab, top left, scroll down to health and feeding. Click that then I think you will see a start new topic tab. Ask your question there and more chance of the lads seeing it. Takes a wee while to suss site out.
  10. How could I refuse an offer like that, thanks frank
  11. Welcome to basics Brian. For info Brian stays in Oban and has had a couple of ybs from me, going to turn his garden shed into a loft next so we might have another doo man in Oban

Fantastic!!, I really hope in a year or two to at least get a doo from across the water.
  16. How closed up is yours Rab? Im coming to the conclusion its not about heat, just lack of drafts.
  17. Always delighted to see a doo home no matter how long after a race, they will always get another chance. Also always grateful to anyone that helps, whether reporting, looking after, collecting etc. I collected a hen of the ferry from Coll a couple of weeks ago. Was racing to near Newcastle I thin from south coast. The owner, Keith Tilbury, drove all the way up to collect her and had a weekend in Oban. Im sure most are the same Walter and appreciate your help. Al.
  18. Thanks for offers of help chaps, sorted now. Thanks Frank, owe you one
  19. Pity mine don't Ian Nice to get the offers all the same
  20. Thanks for offer Kevin but Dornoch Is about same distance away as Edinburgh. Here's not the easiest place to get a doo to I'm afraid.
  21. This is a long shot chaps. Ive a doo in with Stephen Girdwood in Sighthill. Don't suppose anyone is travelling from Edinburgh towards Oban in the near future? Told you its a long shot
