Caught 10 last year and 5 in 5 days so far but none today as early morning is best time to catch them . 6 in 6 days that should give the wee birds in garden peace.

The Larsen jnr is best ,just make fake nest with pigeon eggs in put in a corner of your garden it can take a couple of days to catch first one ,stick live one in a homing cage type thing with food and water sit the jnr trap on top and you will catch one every day if they are there, remember you must feed and water as it's the law !.

Distance birds normally only get 3/4 races before the big one so could be ok , not so sure it will happen but hope so .

We all want to race so come on guys stop picking holes in our Feds efforts to give some kind of racing .jmo

It will just make the empty heads think they need more nesting places .

You talk a lot of sense Walter and think you are almost at your goal and good luck. Working on similar genetic breeding through my gold cup section winner out of my 16 stock nest boxes 11 have birds related to him i.e. Sons ,daughters,full brothers although I am a few years behind your set up I soon hope to have a family bred for distance racing in the west . This was brought up a couple of years ago on here and got the same doom and gloom from Tommy and others , I agree it should be 50 open positions but still give your first 15 in sect and show the true reflection of the race , every section gets its day best pigeons on the day make the result .

I have one at my garden every day chasing everything so she will be going to nest very shortly, will let my birds out again on sat and will get out everyday after that.

Need somewhere for my rope on race days lol.

Got hit yesterday she went right into the batch twice forcing some into the trees ,have one injured, the sea gulls started swooping so it *expletive removed* off , they are on lockdown same as me just to get confidence back .i will get her !

George ,in Jims nest boxes I noticed the bowls were in the centre of boxes rather than in corners has Jim got a reason for this .

Just put 16 pair stock together 10 will be bred off the other 6 will rear. No hurry , as for the racers far too many as I never raced any hens last year so will race celibate for a few races .

Also lots different birds in my garden but my favourites are the robin sits just a foot away and watches me breaking the bread up for him and the woodpecker which has been around for a few years even seen a sparrow hawk a couple of weeks ago but doesn't visit anymore !
