Lost a couple myself last year, pain in the you know what when ye canny even let them out for a fly in peace.
-
The towers are about a mile south of my lofts and i have lost doos from the loft for the last 2 seasons, not AT the lofts, its when they are away flying they are being taken. I know what tower they are in and where their nest is in the tower.
-
Ye canny sue anyone until you've got something to sue them for Alex, i gave you MY opinion on it and explained in detail my position on it. Petron have NO authority to determine what is Legal in our sport and what is not. Petron have IMO developed a trap that a Unicon Pad fits into like a glove but it disnae make it legally binding on any organisations to accept their idea's of traps as being Superior to the Rules of Racing. The "cross the threshold" rule has been in place for YEARS, for as long as i remember in fact, ets designer Traps will NOT overturn this rule. In a nutshell i suggest you return the trap to Unikon as not fit for purpose, or fix it into your loft to meet the requirements of the racing rules in Scotland.
-
Yes i entirely agree with you. The arguments have created doubt about the rule but as far as i'm concerned the threshold of the loft must be crossed before a bird is timed in, whether it comes back outside afterwards is neither here nor there, but crossing the threshold is IMO a MUST for it to be legal. Unfortunately the Policing of seals etc to ensure fairness in racing is not really possible, for one we cannot force our way into/onto members property and many club Officials would not put themselves into a situation where they may be abused for Insisting on seeing a members pad placement. There are many who would say "well just suspend the fancier" but the result would still create divisions amongst club members and officials and that is why a LOT of secretaries say they will not enforce the Seals approach regardless of directives from the SHU or anyone else for that matter.
-
Can i assume that the bird is timed in when it walks into the Archway??... If so IMO, as a fancier first and foremost then it would Not be "legal". As President of the Fed, if an objection was raised about it, i would argue my position as stated on my earlier post. We do however live in a democracy, the rule isn't entirely clear which is what leaves it open to interpretation, but as also stated that is MY interpretation and would Vote in favour of the complainant, in the event of a draw vote that is.
-
IMO Alex, if your pigeon is timed in as soon as it steps into one of the Arch entry points, it would not be a "legal" time in. If however the doos have to walk through bob wires on the inside of the trap before crosing the Pad then it would be "legal". My interpretation of the rules is that the bird must cross the "threshhold" of the loft, in other words have crossed the Frame Work or front wall of the loft. Maybe a better way to say it is if you had a Brick built loft the doo would need to cross the width of the brick then onto the pad to be timed in "legally". As i said this is my own interpretation of the rules and may stand to be corrected, but i doubt that. Cheers John.

Am a Zarkandar admirer though i will no doubt have a WEE bet every day of the festival. Ordinarily i stick to betting the Greyhounds but when the big horse meetings come round i have a go at them. Good luck and i hope you's are RICHER for the experience
-
Cheers Alex, i'll do that.
-
Take the Ferrie out of the equation and that would be just Perfect Ovy, the boat thing is a bit deep rooted with me though, mind you if they let ye on Miraculously drunk and totally unaware of your whereabouts i suppose i could do it
-
Aye yer right Archie, the do gooders have had it all their own way for far too long. Had collections myself as a kid and blew them out as you described, alas no longer for our descendent's.
-
Remember as a kid on the farm my Da killed 2 he caught in the loft, they had been stealing squabs right out of the nests for seasons on end, He Hung them up on a nearby tree and the lofts were never bothered again. Also remember my Da thought it was the same pair that had been doing it all along, them being the only 2 that worked out how to enter and leave the loft.
-
Aye driving wouldn't be an issue, in fact may be preferable. Aye but where will i end up
-
Correct Walter, there is an anti Doping policy approved by the SHU and the SNFC, unfortunately it is NOT put into practice. I say this NOT because i think winning fanciers ARE using drugs, rather to Prove they are Not.
-
When it comes to Boats am a big Sh*t8 bag, so ferries are out of the question, however i would LOVE to go to Lier Market so how do i go about flying over. What airport would i fly into and how far is it from Lier Market??
-
There are exceptions to every rule and contradictions left right and centre when it comes to Doos, BUT on this one i'm with Alan, no way would i breed from it cos more BAD doos are lost than Good ones.
-
You know i've pledged Higgie and i hope ye get yer required number. Ps. I'll tidy the thread up and leave the donations on.

imo a Very Good listen.
