lanarkshire lad Posted February 17, 2016 Report Posted February 17, 2016 Let the cocks out about 1.30 this afternoon when I came out the loft I was met by a two year old cock crashing into the Perspex on front of the loft I could see blood under his wing he hit the ground and ran under the loft when I looked into the sky I knew right away what it was as the pigeons were scattered everywhere a huge peregrine was just above the house I watched for about a least 10mins as this peregrine chased my pigeons relentlessly until it finally got one fkn murder watching this as there absolutely nothing you can do so ive got three injured and one I reckon will be stripped to the bone by now.

cemetary Posted February 17, 2016 Report Posted February 17, 2016 Went to feed the doos last week in the high winds we had. 2 doos got out, glad it was a pair, they sat on the roof. Couple owe minutes later, the hen Peregrine came over trying to lift them from the roof above the house, glad they sat tight, managed to chase it away with a few bangs of the hands. After a few minutes before I shouted for them to come down, it came back again, couldn't put a rocket up as it would have scared the doos and then could have been trouble, they are on the hunt that's for sure.

Uphill Lofts Posted February 17, 2016 Report Posted February 17, 2016 I use a clacks-ton horn to distract them if stalking the birds. The type on a aerosol can used at foot ball games etc.Far better than shouting clapping or screaming.Sounds like a ship coming into dock and a lot louder. Neighbours think I`am nuts but does distract them.
greenbar Posted February 17, 2016 Report Posted February 17, 2016 we have one of them, have used it a couple of times, wee logan next door keeps looking for a boat when set it of,

ally mac Posted February 17, 2016 Report Posted February 17, 2016 I was flying into Glasgow from Barra last Tuesday, just a wee plane that flies a lot lower than the big ones. When we were over the quarry at Dumbuck I was looking down and saw percy flying past. malky Brown had told me theres a nest there and sure enough there it was. Looked up from the garden at home today and one went over too. Getting to the time of year now the doos will be getting out and not looking forward to it. Last year was a nightmare round the loft early on.

The fkn thing then went back after the others again a good distance away from the loft and once again chased one towards the loft but this time it caught the the doo theres futt all you can do about it and by the way for the size of the peregrine it was fast and very agile bassa.

Upsndoons Posted February 17, 2016 Report Posted February 17, 2016 Had my second attack in two weekend, two weeks ago. Pair of Percys hit the cocks while I had just popped in the loft to close their trap after letting them out. They were going round really well then when I came out not a doo in sight. Next think was two cocks hitting loft landing board like they were rocket powered closely followed by one Percy.Got them in and it when south to a field about 500 meters away.Me and my other half then watched for nearly an hour as one Percy dived continue lay at something on ground or in the trees nearby.Second hawk was working another group of trees.Eventually, one Percy flew off but second stayed till it was dark. Hard to believe this next bit but it's absolutely true. Me and other half sat in family room which has big patio doors that evening. After an hour after dusk I heard tapping on glass door. At first I thought it was rain, when I looked there was my dark yearly cock knocking on the window. expletive remove you could have knocked me down. Other half just couldn't believe it either.I went out and with the external PIR flood lights this guys comes in and brings in two other who were sat on loft roof. He is now known as The Nightwatchman. Final score was a blue cock lost to Percy and me down to 7 cocks to race this year. Ah well just another challenge.
