Kyleakin Lofts Posted February 8, 2016 Report Posted February 8, 2016 It seems that this Amalgamation is up and running. I don't have any official notification as yet, but a Facebook Group has been started and by the comments on that group, it is up and running. From what I am reading it is for joint liberations only, at this stage.Been a long time coming, but a move in the correct direction at last.

geordie1234 Posted February 8, 2016 Report Posted February 8, 2016 Joint libs only as we dont all use the same process for measurements RPRA and SHU are different apparently. Good to see federations speaking to each other and thinking of the future. It would be better if we could compete against each other but I'm sure in time that will come. ATVB

ATVB Its such a trivial thing to stop the Amalgamation Geo. We could use the measurements we ve got, whether its RPRA or SHU as there wont be much difference in them, only a few yards and really, who cares if it gets it up and running, omo. The Amal can decide whether its raced under RPRA rules or SHU rules in case of any objections.
ayelate Posted February 8, 2016 Report Posted February 8, 2016 Is Midland Fed included ?.Too Far East

geordie1234 Posted February 8, 2016 Report Posted February 8, 2016 Is there a list of the Feds that will be involved .why should the RPRA have any involvement ???Because some members have RPRA measurements
alec guinness Posted February 8, 2016 Report Posted February 8, 2016 Joint convoying is not a almalgamation Lol

geordie1234 Posted February 8, 2016 Report Posted February 8, 2016 (edited) GlasgowLanarkshire Ayrshire Is the three I have heard.. Edited February 8, 2016 by geordie1234
Kyleakin Lofts Posted February 8, 2016 Author Report Posted February 8, 2016 This is at the early stages just now. The joint effort has been given this name for reference purposes, it is only a name, no need to get technical about it. I don't know how much joint conveying there will be, but a joint liberation means lots of pigeons flying into the same general area, safety in numbers I presume. I have RPRA measurements and my current SHU measurements are only a couple of yards different. I have not yet been measured by SHU under the new system. Glasgow and South Lanarkshire (RPRA) and Ayrshire and Lanarkshire (SHU) are all I know of at this time who intend to have joint liberations. The race points are (Otterburn, Wetherby, only some Feds joint for these) Retford, Melton Mowbray and Peterborough, for the full Amalgamation, albeit Ayrshire have decided to go with the National on the Peterborough week, but they will be making provisions for their members who wish to go with the Amalgamation. This has been spoken about over the last two years, I think Mr John Quinn first mooted the idea, and in my opinion, it is good that it is happening. It is just a pity that it has taken three years to reach this stage, but it is progress nevertheless.
KIDDON Posted February 8, 2016 Report Posted February 8, 2016 In this day and age Feds need to amalgamate to keep costs down due to declining membership

hotrod Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 Del the difference in measurements is quite a bit in some races . But glad we're on the right direction .

geordie1234 Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 Stuart, the difference might decrease once the SHU have their new measurements using the Benzing GPS. Still won't be the same
Delboy Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 Del the difference in measurements is quite a bit in some races . But glad we're on the right direction . Im sure it can be sorted anyway m8, it shouldn't be too big a deal to stop it progressing imo.
Kyleakin Lofts Posted February 10, 2016 Author Report Posted February 10, 2016 Still won't be the same It may be George. I think RPRA use Garmin to pinpoint the loft and Solway used Garmin when they done their lofts. After checking with Benzing the measurements were the same, so the Garmin was approved. The only remaining difference would be the race-point end and the method of measurement, i.e. Great Circle versus ?
