cemetary Posted February 18, 2015 Report Posted February 18, 2015 Just put the birds out after 12 to clean them, when the starlings lifted, then so did the birds, next thing, Hen Peregrine chasing, started banging buckets, not even a chance, next think, bang away with one, 5 mins later she is back, ready to have another go, so I got a rocket out the shed, band goes the rocket with the birds, but it helped as she hopped it. The guy who is helping me with the birds couldn't believe it. So am still looking for the doo, unless its went to ground, who knows. :emoticon-0179-headbang:

lanarkshire lad Posted February 18, 2015 Report Posted February 18, 2015 I had just let out a section today and a peregrine chased a yearling cock which dived for cover a bit away from the loft and a couple of minutes later the peregrine appeared with a pigeon in its claws my son ran in the house and got the camera I thought it was mine it had but the wee cock showed up ok so it must have been a streeter? here is the photo he took.

bullcock Posted February 18, 2015 Report Posted February 18, 2015 We had one killed one day and this on the second day, before and after pics.
Valiant Fifer Posted February 18, 2015 Report Posted February 18, 2015 Shocking guys really feel for you and ur poor pigeons. I know iv'e been scudded with percy a couple of times at Leven. Think the bar steward comes off the big chimney there, must be able to se for miles around. There's also the near by quarry, I know someone who works near by and he sometimes collects rings from the area. When checking who the pigeons belonged to he found out they were local as well as race birds from all over Britain. ITS ANOTHER SCANDAL THE GOVERMENT ARE DOING NOTHING. Probably no money to be made in it for them, so there's no interest what so ever! In the meantime we suffer along with the poor pigeons of course. :emoticon-0127-lipssealed: :emoticon-0127-lipssealed: :emoticon-0127-lipssealed: :emoticon-0127-lipssealed:

ally mac Posted February 18, 2015 Report Posted February 18, 2015 Chased a sparrow hawk of a doo on Saturday, got it in time. First time they had been out for a couple of months. Was working at plot this afternoon and saw percy go over directly above the loft. Glad I got the doos trained down the road before xmas as never saw a thing for weeks then.

Valiant Fifer Posted February 18, 2015 Report Posted February 18, 2015 That's good, not so bad when some are helpful and understanding but sometimes there's some that are not.

james mcguire Posted February 19, 2015 Report Posted February 19, 2015 Does the RSPB not mean protection of BIRDS .I don't see any of them helping pigeons.should it not read RSPF
peter pandy Posted February 19, 2015 Report Posted February 19, 2015 Not looking to good for racers coming up through Bonchester Bridge Roxburghshire with an Arab setting up a falcon training centre then exporting them to the Middle East. I think you can bet your bottom dollar that their training will definately take place Wed, Thur and Saturday's. That will make it two in that area rearing predators.

billt Posted February 19, 2015 Report Posted February 19, 2015 Watch the cams set up at percy nests and you'll see how many fans they have, we are well outnumbered
Valiant Fifer Posted February 19, 2015 Report Posted February 19, 2015 Its a bloody disgrace, birds of prey have got more protection than children and children are harmless. Children at times don't get enough protection, you have all seen the horror stories on tv news with children being neglected, case after case of child abuse and all sorts. There's not enough funding to do it properly we get told by social workers and the like. What a joke an absolute scandal. However there's some spare cash, well lots of it really to help the rspb to spend on setting up nesting sites and protection programmes for birds of prey that are supposedly rare. Yup that's a great thing for the government to do really amazing isn't it. Meanwhile Schools closing because of lack of funding, just a lack of funding in schools in general, and also the NHS. Makes me sick. :emoticon-0179-headbang:
