AS Alf Baker said, 'You buy the birds, not the fancier'! Mind his birds did breed an international winner ... For Belgium.

Often flayed though as above.

The amount of these "Big Things" that hit our shores, you wouldn't need to buy the fancier. You would expect to hear of some really good ones from them.

I am sure this is the case and that for all the imports coming to these shores there are quite a few good ones. The reason we no longer hear of them is that they are bred into existing families, bred over by the next craze, or just bred into oblivion.

How does someone manage to breed so many pigeons that they are able to export them all over and yet remain at the top of their game? :)

Roland Janssen and Janssen Gebr of Arendonk are two different people (partnerships) Phil. The most overrated was the Ronny De Dobbelaers, many many were bought by members on here and never heard of anyone having success with em? (About to be proved wrong now I bet)

Spoke a well known National winner, 5 or so year s ago, who visited Belgium regularly. He smiled and said 'Over there he is never heard of ... They can't see how he has made such a name for his self.

So the big horse races are dominated by off spring of past winners eh?

No matter the cost, or breeding, it takes the owner / fanciers to enable the birds to bring home the bacon.

Further I'd wager - if able to be proven - that nigh every loft at some times has / or will have a great bird ... whether recognised and brought to the table will be another story, and Many may be brought to the dinner table lol.

For the cogs to turn in harmony it takes knowledge and oil.

IMO they're all over hyped.

Agree with me or not racing up to 300 mile I regard as sprint and this type of racing I believe comes down to 60% fancier 40% pigeon. Give good pigeons to a good fancier and they'll win regardless of strain. The only difference with good old strains and the new super Van Ar$ekickers is that you can ask double the amount for the new. Again IMO there's peeps out there that scan the continent trying to find an unheard name that flies well with the sole intent on marketing these new pigeons and making a quick buck, lets be honest if you found a source of super pigeons you would keep it close to your chest.
