BIGPETE Posted November 9, 2014 Report Posted November 9, 2014 Just curious guys... What identification do you use on your YB's?
cemetary Posted November 9, 2014 Report Posted November 9, 2014 A think its a waste owe time spending money on ID rings, just IMO, ave tried them.

tommy bhoys Posted November 9, 2014 Report Posted November 9, 2014 Just curious guys... What identification do you use on your YB's?wing stamp ID rings and this year started putting TEL numbers on ETS rings had lots reported and helped home by fellow fanciers also a few reported dead by none fanciers none in stray basket so in my eyes they work
paddymac Posted November 9, 2014 Report Posted November 9, 2014 I use a wingstamp on mine but have very few ever reported
buster151 Posted November 9, 2014 Report Posted November 9, 2014 Wing stamp and phone ring, not that it seems to make much difference as only ever had 3 reported
BIGPETE Posted November 9, 2014 Author Report Posted November 9, 2014 Mine are so ugly anyone local getting them in know who they belong to Haha if that is the case I need to go to spec savers Tony. Your birds always look immaculate mate. I reckon if local lads get your strays in they put em to stock.
andyyy Posted November 9, 2014 Report Posted November 9, 2014 i have used telephone rings for the last few years, this year ive had a stinker with the young birds however i have had lots of them reported even by non fanciers as well. One race i lost 6 on saturday, on the monday out of the 6 i had 5 reported.
BIGPETE Posted November 9, 2014 Author Report Posted November 9, 2014 For me the problem with wing stamps is if a non fancier gets the bird they will never think to open the wing and look for contact details. I have used telephone number rings this year, I had one reported out of about 6 lost. So for me, the cost/hassle of getting/putting on the telephone rings was worth it. First year racing next year, the only thing that puts me off the phone number rings is if it slows down getting the rubber off if they put it over it or above it.
scott mca Posted November 9, 2014 Report Posted November 9, 2014 I have Club wing stamp and also telephone rings and have never had a young bird reported lost 5 off the loft this year on the same night and never had any reported so might just go with a wing stamp next year.
hawked again Posted November 9, 2014 Report Posted November 9, 2014 Wing stamped with phone number and a big pink dot under each wing and on rump. My daughter phoned me from the A96 just West of Nairn to tell me she could see the dots so to expect 3 racers in the next 10 minutes. Sure enough they came on time as she said. Started racing with 35, managed 5 races before the molt and have 23 left so am not sure if the dots helped with the Percy problem or not.
andy Burgess Posted November 9, 2014 Report Posted November 9, 2014 i have used "telephone number rings" for a few years now.i used a wingstamp in the past . very few get reported , yet the rings have paid for themselves 10 times or more. what cost the rings ?? = £18 a hundred ish ? i certainly value youngsters a minimum £30 each ,and more .a no brainer for me .

paddymac Posted November 9, 2014 Report Posted November 9, 2014 Still not bad at that price Andy and free p&p
andy Burgess Posted November 9, 2014 Report Posted November 9, 2014 Still not bad at that price Andy and free p&p no , i agree Pat , did for a few years order a hundred for my racers and Seona,s white birds , so had a good few "spares" hanging around.
REDCHEQHEN Posted November 10, 2014 Report Posted November 10, 2014 First year racing next year, the only thing that puts me off the phone number rings is if it slows down getting the rubber off if they put it over it or above it. Put your phone number ring on the life ring leg - there is enough room, then it doesn't interfere with a race rubber

Ask the ringer to put the rubber on top of the phone number ring,no probs.
