Guest bigda Posted June 30, 2014 Report Posted June 30, 2014 now theres sence plus they feed on the wing and keep up there enrgy levels while flying :emoticon-0137-clapping:If we caught up all the swallows in scotland and through therm up in alencon on sat how many wid make home lol you are correct about eating on the wing and swooping down for a drink, but you will not see a swallow fly in a rainy day.

johnc Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 Looks like the SNRPC got a hard yin yesterday and the cumbrians got a kicking on sunday!!! Maybe we should have went today? or maybe the morra?yes and a perfect racing day in most peoples opinion just goes to show its not all down to weather
JohnQuinn Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 yes and a perfect racing day in most peoples opinion just goes to show its not all down to weather Naw John its no all about bad weather, its about bad CONTROLING!!!!
gulkie Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 we are on here moaning about a bit of rain what about the birds that migrate from scotland to africa year in year out dont you think they encounter a lot more severe rain than our birds do but still make it.im pretty new to this distance flying to most here but i have got four 2 year olds left and a yearling thats it, the four 2 year olds will be going to claremont if they cant make it then they are not good enough and i will start again until i get them from france in any weather ,i wonder how many other lofts are sitting with distance doos that are 2 years old and over and make excuses for them not going at the end of the day they are homing pigeons pure and simple if they cant do it when they hit a bit of rain when others in the same area do it then they are no good simpleThe birds that migrate how do u know how many make it .
dal2 Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 Naw John its no all about bad weather, its about bad CONTROLING!!!!When would you have went John?
JohnQuinn Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 When would you have went John? Most likely yesterday Steven, in saying that if i was in a position to take a Thursday race i would have given the green light to go then.
dal2 Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 Most likely yesterday Steven, in saying that if i was in a position to take a Thursday race i would have given the green light to go then.Fair enuff but hindsight is brill after the fact. Yes bit of a stinker but its a tough and thankless job at times. Looked at most coming out of France this weekend and all been tough ie Cumbria combine
JohnQuinn Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 Fair enuff but hindsight is brill after the fact. Yes bit of a stinker but its a tough and thankless job at times. Looked at most coming out of France this weekend and all been tough ie Cumbria combine It's no Hindsight Steven, it was foreseen when we knew the birds were up that a disaster would ensue. The only comparison we can draw between the SNFC and the others racing from France at the weekend is that we were the ONLY organisation to liberate Saturday. That is an astonishingly Arrogant decision considering the number of other controllers who held over, and that's the most Damning part of it, that we have someone who thinks they know better than all those other men. The controllers should Resign without delay if they have any dignity whatsoever.
frankdooman Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 I think wee need to remember the guy who decided to go is feeling worse than anyone at the moment he prob had his doo,s on too he must have seen something that he thought was right and if he made it he would have been a hero but the ones that went on sun got it just as bad and the snrpc aren't getting it easy either so it looks like one of they weekends for disaster regardless I've lost two at Alencon and three still missing today the best birds I have left OH!!!!!!!!! And a pato door to the strimmer lol so not a good weekend here
JohnQuinn Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 Believe me Frank, he's no feeling worse than me, and whatever he seen that made him Lib well he/they were the ONLY wans tae see it and that's my problem with them. Someone in the doos a couple of weeks would have held Saturday and how the other days turned out is neither here nor there, fact is they lost a lot of men's BEST pigeons on the back of this race and that's no forgivable whether they had doos on the motor or not. They should RESIGN, its the only course they can take.
Mossgiel Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 One home this morning from four entered, disappointing performance

I think this is probably the worst ever controlling decision made by the SNFC. JMHO One home this morning from four entered, disappointing performance Doos never had a chance Brian, game of chance, bloody disgrace.
geordie1234 Posted July 1, 2014 Author Report Posted July 1, 2014 Hard day at the office for a lot of ppl and pigeons.. But also some great performances... Jim Hannahs two absolutely superb Billy Bisland aswell in that wind done fantastic. . Then you have the guys up the north of Scotland timing in. It was not to be for me timing from this race but I'll re-group and keep working away.

This meaning we elected them to make a decision that the majority of us members would not be happy to make at any race. Now wrongly or rightly they decided to lib and the aftermath must be dealt with. You know cos you have been on various committee the way to change and I hope you get lots of fellas wanting the job but I ain't sure that will happen

It was a loose cannon decision to liberate those birds and you don't need a loose cannon controlling races.
Roland Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 You know, any bird home in Scotland, especially at the top end, within 3 Days has certainly earned their' perch. It was a very hard and extremely telling so - called race. Wet / rain and constantly a changing of direction and strength of the winds. Well done all those birds, and the fanciers of course in preparing them.
