OLDYELLOW Posted March 21, 2014 Report Posted March 21, 2014 At what age do you wean ??? Or are you like me and think that it's better for them to be eating rather than a date, as each one develops at there own pace / rate I've had a yb from a fancier that was 18 days old when got it and was feeding better than a 21 day old from same loft
andyyy Posted March 21, 2014 Report Posted March 21, 2014 I part when I see fit too, IE feeding or coming out of the nest box onto the floor
Guest GAV Posted March 21, 2014 Report Posted March 21, 2014 I go by the development of the individual chick as in my experience there all growing at differant rates, when there eating drinking and flying about there then removed to young bird section but thats just me.
alex young Posted March 21, 2014 Report Posted March 21, 2014 My own y/bs about 20days but if I was rearing some for anybody else about 24 days.
TheHigg Posted March 21, 2014 Report Posted March 21, 2014 full underwing cover then watch for a couple of days make sure they are eating and more importantly drinking [bobs youre uncle]
cemetary Posted March 21, 2014 Report Posted March 21, 2014 When am happy that I see them eating and drinking, no days for me.
greenlands Posted March 21, 2014 Report Posted March 21, 2014 The fist ones to go through when eating and feathered under the wing, later ones a little older to give them a chance when mixing with older birds.
philg50 Posted March 21, 2014 Report Posted March 21, 2014 I like them feathered under wing and offering to pick ,but if they are nae copeing put them back.
hotrod Posted March 21, 2014 Report Posted March 21, 2014 21 days is fine , but if its 24 /26 days till the weekend then I leave them till then to keep am eye on them
blue pied Posted March 21, 2014 Report Posted March 21, 2014 just split the first of mines today, between 21-24 days
buster151 Posted March 21, 2014 Report Posted March 21, 2014 just leave mine until they ready to come out themselves
Michael J Burden Posted March 22, 2014 Report Posted March 22, 2014 As already said does not matter some have been taken away at 16 days because lost parents and hand reared but they have been eating at 17 days but this is the exception to the rule. I take mine away at 20 21 days keep an eye on them. Put then over just before dark. Check they have eaten next day dunk head into water once or twice. Hand feed a few beans or maples if they are not picking up. But not too much otherwise they will wait for you to feed them. So feel the crop any food in water into bowl. Noting at all hand feed then water in bowl. Mjb
