shweet Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 Does anybody use barley/depurative for young birds ?
blackdog Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 Does anybody use barley/depurative for young birds ? yes, always have a percentage of barley in the mix, fed a little amount at a time until they start to leave the barley, that way you dont overfeed and still have control.
walterboswell59 Posted November 16, 2013 Author Report Posted November 16, 2013 i must say that over the last 6 to 8 years my eyes have been opened to the feeding of barley and wheat and the benifits of feeding it imo anyone who buys depurative is throwing money away as its only a bag of barley with a hand full of conditioner through it and called depurative so the feed companies can get more money out us for what is the very cheapest of feed make your own and save money
William Reid Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 Think I will try them on barley looks like money could be saved .THAT WILL DO FOR ME .
Bryngwynt Lofts Posted November 17, 2013 Report Posted November 17, 2013 Been using barley for last couple of months, birds look well for it.Also stops the hens putting on to much fat, before pairing up.I got 25kg from Bells at Knutsford for £5, good clean stuff.

eastcoaster Posted November 17, 2013 Report Posted November 17, 2013 Was speaking to a top west sect fancier on Friday he said he never feeds barley but feeds beans instead as they don't like them but will eat enough to get by so keeping the fat off. All roads lead to Rome , I have not seen any price diff on any feeds .
