The longest race birdage has been consistant for the last 15 years.

The gold cup has dropped dramatically this because of the middle distance races that have been included in the national program.

Ypres for a race that is no more than a middle race has a really poor turnout.

I'm with Dal, Gold cup and the Longest race is were the history of the club are. When you look at the names on these trophies then you will see that there legendary, same can't be said about Ypres.

I agree with both off youz but the longest race surely cannot continue at the birdage it is getting?

The Gold Cup is the main event yes but as I said if Ypres is going to be an international for me it is the main event nxt season for ME more to the point I have a big team of yearlins so this add to ypres for me

The birdage in the longest race in 1996 was something like 262 ? This year 17 years on and it still has well into the 200's, now if you were to include the other nationals 60 doos from troyes then it shows that the longest distance race in Scotland is more than holding it's own compared to the other French races.

Are there things that could be done to encourage more fanciers to go to this prestigious race , YES

Agree the longest races are the most prestigious races regardless ov the birdage.but this is about what is the best opportunity to get together and what the Ypres race signified in the beginning was unity so for me it's the best way forward

Can't speak for the members ov the SNRPC personally would like there to be only one club and for me the any union rule would solve this.Yes mate i am a member off the shu and the rpra

think we are going a we bit to fast here lads lets just get on the ladder one rung at a time the first step would be to convoy together to the longest race that would be a start and makes sence to both with costs and with more birds coming into scotland it will help the birds to then if it works out we can try going to few more races together the next year dont give the few the excuse to say im not happy with this or that because some will just to scupper it for all the majority and comonsence must prevail imo

Vinnie, if you wanted to fly in the SNFC then you would've by now. The 2 clubs will never get together and more are coming back to the SNFC every year, leaving only a few to throw in the towel. omho. Your main guys that were part of the split are all back with the SNFC and in fact, most never left :emoticon-0127-lipssealed:

Your right Del, more and more are coming back, Hotrod started this thread, and he is a founding member of the SNRPC, fair play to him, as human beings time is a healer and this might be the time.

That may be the case del but there are a hell of a lot Snfc members now flying with the snrpc too including our fancier of the year , but I wish we could all fly together but it won't happen , and gold cup and longest for me .

The reason doomen are in both is for their love off doo racing...the same guys that if there was a race everyday of the week they would send regardless???

True mate ! If I had the birds I would fly in both no politics in my loft .

Same mate!

I totally respect I haven't been in the game long enough to wear out a scraper but from an outsider the politics is surely holding the fancy back

Thing is what does it matter what Union your in

Matters a hellava lot, some folk who are suspended from the SHU are allowed to fly with the SNRPC, and that is putting it politely

What do snfc bring to the table apart from birdage they don't have any of their own transport and what they were using for baskets were crap and the marking station in the west is a joke and I'm a member of the snfc again after starting back and I was far from impressed by what I have seen this year so I think these points alone would stop any get together but this is only my opinion.

Transportation will always be an issue when you dont have your own but leasing isnt always a bad idea.

The snfc brings to the table a proper national steeped in history where winners of their races should feel proud and honoured

Many try, many come close but most fail.

Why are they suspended? I assume they broke rules so in my book they deserve to be suspended. Any form of cheating should be met with life bans from racing of any sort in any union.

On the transportation leasing does have its good points I agree but with what your saying about the reputation of the snfc should they not be getting the members the best available transport for the welfare of our birds with what I've seen it's far from it and what I've seen of the snrpc there a bit ahead with transport :emoticon-0140-rofl:

Yip the transport could do with looking at but remeber that the birds were moved in wicker baskets when moses was a boy and the popular consesud was better racing. A move and a tweek with the times perhaps?

As regards the history then thats there in the record books. I am 41and not a dinosaur who doesnt want progression but feel that a lot of modern ways may give us problems. Sorry for the off topic.

Have admiration for all the snrpc winners but think that the two clubs have coexsisted so far and there are maybe a few plus points and lessons to be learned?
