0 out 1 yet another disaster race for the birds becoming all to often from the Chanel races and there's guys on here banging on about cancelling the inland nationals at least the race is over in race time not wasting two days staring at the sky don't get me wrong I would love a doo on the result from the big ones but check out the birdage the two biggest races on the calendar are the worst supported that tells me guys are more interested at seeing there doos coming home and that's what it's all about enjoyment as once that goes its over

Totally agree Ricki 0 out of 4 best birds in my loft, got them all from the inlands, more inlands needed:)

0\1 but my input is there is a big step up to top the fed from winning in the club as there is timing doos from the inland nat and then there are the 500mls races which are a different game , but that has no baring on this result as pure and simply the intense heat beat the birds and think we will see a lot work home over the next few days. I hope.

0/3 here too.

0/4 for me and I can usually at least get a timer but there are many class fanciers never got a timer from this race, extreme heat, no cloud cover, N/E wind , moon in the sky during the day and distance all add up to a stinker, seen it before and we will see it again, you get poor races when the weather is bad but not as bad as when the above conditions prevail IMO

Very very true Ricky ,no such thing as good race from France now ,messac 2years ago think only 40ish birds into Scotland in 3 days ,Tours last year only 8 birds on result after 3 days ,Top man in our fed had his best 8 at alencon got one that sums up pigeon racing nowadays if the inlands are scrubbed there won't be any doos left in 3 years with those losses have to face the stark facts the glory days are long gone ,I have lost more young birds training the last week than I used to breed in 3 years and it will only get Worse ,There are national winners etc being lost at these races if you had a good one years ago you had it for life jmho

Will we learn a lesson from this race or just forget like it never happened ?, yes pigeons made it home champions every one of them , but no matter how bad a race is there is always birds home , but IMHO most had no chance of completing the race due to the temps , plus it's been bone dry for weeks meaning there was not many places to stop off and get a drink ,ie on flat roofs ,gutters etc , so most would have stopped due to dehydration . And early on in the race too jmho .

Stuart I remember back to the gold cup Rennes in the heat wave of 1976

Joe Murray from ecclefechan won the race

Eddie Newcombe was second

A west section bird was 3rd open

Spread all over Scotland in glorious blue sky's

If my memory serves me correct I had 3 of my 6 on the shift

Birds were tumbling in

Major difference no Peregrine .

y/bs touring 11 out of my 35

Since I started training none have been lost

Mother nature will eventually find the right balance, in who's favour i couldnae tell ye.

Here's ONE of many theories i have.......What i am sure of is that doos, that race week in week out, and go on to score for you, have an awareness about them that most of their competitors lack, i mean they are bound to be in batches being hit regularly but for one reason or another these doos never get hit, hopefully we will all end up with this type of bird and Percy develops a taste for a more reliable return for it's attacks. How long that would take??? Anybody's guess!! but it won't be in the short term, if ever.sad.gif
