My personal opinion is that it was diesel I think maybe Bull cock was one of the guys with me emptying the drinkers at our side.

However it is done now hopefully nothing like this happens again and we all get a good race from Maidstone

If my wee cock stoates hame he will be called Vin Diesel lol

Anyway guys on a serious note when do we think the doos will be libbed???

thats nonsence , just because somthing has a heavy oil smell ie deisel

dosent mean its deisel . Having done damp proofing wet rot dry rot woodworm mould moss weed killer etc some of that is oil based and some smells just like deisel or parrafin but its 100 times more deadly as the oil is the base the chemicals are carried in .

Maby a test of the drum would let folk know what it actually was as i dont think a film of deisel in the water will do much harm , but fungacide or weed killers is a different story . Even to ask the garden center owner or staff what was previously in the drum might put minds at rest

That is a good idea, I am familiar with diesel and it certainly smelled like it, but you could be right, the owners of the premises could hold the key to what it was, and could help in the final decision to lib or not.

Your right it is done and I'm sure committee can make the right decision.

And there will be some with good and some with poor returns and the diesel will be the talking point.

If there was a £10,000 doo in Lanarkshire am sure it widnae see the ootside world again wink.gif

and why would there not be a doo in the basket

that has won £10,000 in prize money, the point is if the guys that have to take there doos out of the basket, they have every right in telling the committee, if they cant get a race no one will, so don't forget that. can you or any vet guarantee the said birds in them baskets the ones that took a drink will be up with the pace, the bird might look OK but anyone who have kept budgies would know they look OK just before they die, just as you can have 2 guys standing side by side ready to race both look OK, but one has a dose of the runs, and all is in his head is where is the Bog

The doos will be ok , diesel floats on the top of the water, and when doos drink they stick there heads under.

You dont even go to the national so it's *expletive removed* all to do was you our pigeons have drank worse than that and made it home it shouldn't have happened but the birds will be ok imo

ARE YOU THICK OR WHAT, the lanarkshire are with the national this race ya dafty

the fact is yours didn't drink anything poisonous, and you have no say in it if they go or not, that is up to the guys that it affects, and if pigeons have drunk worse dafty they sure as hell ain't at the winners table there has been loads of time and effort spent here and you are only worrying about your race no the guys doos or there money lost.

Update : The affected birds have been seen by a second avian vet. Both vets consulted the veterinary equivalent of the human Poisons Bureau, and were made aware of all the symptoms associated with posioning e.g. loose droppings, vomiting etc. Neither vet observed any of these symptoms nor did any of the pigeon folk charged with looking after them, in fact the opposite was seen, the birds appear to be in the best of health, and have been given the all clear by the vet to be released with the other race birds as soon as weather permits..

The President undertook a telephone poll of the SNFC Management Committee tonight and based on all available information there was a unanimous vote to liberate as soon as weather permits..

Can,t understand fellow members trying to belittle the snfc we the members are the Scottish national flying club with the committee we have voted for always doing their upmost for the better meant of everyone, being a business owner and adhering to health and safety all petrol chemicals and Likewise substances including there containers must at all times be stored in a secure place of keeping under lock and key which in this case clearly did not happen if taken to a court of law the Scottish national flying club would be vindicated 100percent .

did the guy in question, ask for the greenhouse owners permission to use there utensils, and is it then him that is responsible should there be a law suit acting on behalf of the national. i think the committee will find this not to there liking the guys that have trouble with there birds will be looking for guarantees from the vets in writing just in case there have a dispute about the outcome, IMO i think the owners of the birds should have been contacted and they decide there own fate. these vets are they pigeon wise.
