big blue bar Posted March 10, 2013 Report Posted March 10, 2013 i remember winning our first five ave race s couple years back with having two firsts and the other fanciers having three , he thought he had won the ave , he was the same frame of mind thinking you added the ave together then divided the ave by the amont of races , we beat him bye a couple of yards and there WAS a couple off slow races

peter pandy Posted March 11, 2013 Report Posted March 11, 2013 As a past secretary trying to explain to fanciers who were convinced they have won certain averages when they have never been beaten can and was most trying to the point of frustration on both parties. In the sequence of races you could have taken races 200mls and 300mls as an example where Smith won both but Jones won the best average. The explanation is in the slowest race flown where the faster time is combined to the slowest.
