Had three later bred pigeons out today and thought cause they were bred out of season and not been out for awhile and being a bit cold decided to put a wee jacket on them to keep them warm and of they went good i thought they will see a bit of the country today ,two returned after 45 minutes and thought the other one would not be far away ,but waited and waited only for it to return at 4 30 minus its wee jacket along with some tail/wing feathers :emoticon-0157-sun: so just hope whoever took the jacket of my late bred gets kept warm :emoticon-0136-giggle: :emoticon-0136-giggle: :emoticon-0136-giggle:

I've seen a male Percy do it 3 birds - all hens - in a row before I managed to dissuade it ! The day it got the 3rd bird, I followed to where it landed and frightened it off the carcass, whereupon I found the heads of my two other hens and some of their entrails, which it had removed prior to "parcelling" them and carrying them back t the sitting hen !

I was informed by a good source that the Goshawk always rips the head off first...

That could well be true in the case of the female as she is so much bigger and more powerful, She literally snatches and goes so little chance of seeing the outcome, I've not seen a head off in the male attack and there have been many in the last few years

Yes Steve, I've had Percy knock birds down on the fields and time I've got there they have been be-headed

This is the damage inflicted on my doo by a hen Peregrine the peregrine landed in the grass park across from my house too deal with the doo i ran out across the park to were they were i got roughly about twenty paces away from them when the peregrine got up i tried to pick the doo up but it fluttered through my legs making it into a driveway could'nt find it this is the way it came back to the loft two days later if you look closely at the photo you can see a hole full of puss/gangerine were the windpipe should be.

The more experienced better hunters will sometimes take the head clean off very few young falcons or hawks will di this as they don't have the skill levels similar I suppose to the cheetah we see on tv the young ones don't look half awarkard trying to take down there prey

Your missing the point about what Mr Boswell is talking about .

It is so easy to sort it out .feed the fkrs :animatedpigeons:
