caitlin Posted September 22, 2012 Author Report Posted September 22, 2012 With 2 x 1st national wins , gold award winners, and lots more snfc positions I would say they do just fine.In last ten years they have wiped the floor in fed racing . But very poor in nat racing when they send to s n f c races you will find nine times out of ten they can time in remember they dont sent the same number to s n f c races as fed racesDo they not just send small teams in fed racing ie.20/30 pigeons a week

wullie semple Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 from 97 2007 they did not send with the s n f c
Guest stb- Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 i think that if the snfc races were not in the social circle averages im not sure they would even bother as it only seems to be a token entry most times compared with fed races programe
alec guinness Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 federation and national racing are two very different beasts no doubt!!!!!!!!! the macs have in the past had a great record at the nationals but of late not the same although they do go i believe to most inland races and are on more than a few results!!!!!,flying against them in the social most weeks they are untouchable with the lanarkshire fed convoy but a national convoy is most definately different, they dont fly the channel races with the national unless it is tied with the fed or social averages etc, although a large recent investment has been made with regards new distance blood!!!!!!!! watch this space. :)
WulDon Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 national racing into lanarkshire certainly seems to be tough game, put the best lanarkshire lofts nearer the east coast and i'm pretty sure they would be knocking on the door soon enough... lanarkshire doos are ceratinly good enough, look at this year YB result!
geordie1234 Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 Caitlen what do you think the reason is?
Novice Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 Based on a conversation I had with George several years ago when he let his distance birds go I feel that he (the partnership) were lacking in motivation for National competition. George said he did not wish to keep a pigeon which would only be timed once a year when he could fill the lofts with birds which came to the front every week. They set out to establish themselves as the best against huge birdages and they certainly achieved that. Having achieved that target the emphasis may change in the future.
geordie1234 Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 I spoke to a top fancier about the macaloney's and distance his words were if they wanted to win from the channel they could do it no prob he also said what John Hood said some sheckles have been spent on distance blood so watch this space

dal2 Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 it dosent matter where you stay the top flyiers are only as good as you let them be Top fliers win anywhere do they not?? Top fanciers in disadvantaged areas will beat the others around them a high percentage of the time?? When you get a lot of top fanciers in a small area you get diffo fed and club winners most weeks?? When the fanciers all thrown together the wind and weather have a big say BUT the fanciers that appear a high percentage of the time on these results are the TOP men??? It cannot be taken any other way! You race against yer club, then yer fed and then the big one??? Its all you can do unless you move your loft to where YOU think you will win!!! The prob with that is that it does not guarantee success cos the guys that you have moved to fly against already know how to win in their location???

gulkie Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 So the romours about them calling it a day are crap u Don.t buy in new stock when ur finishing up .there defoThe men to beat in Lanarkshire fed and the target to aimFor.

And, honestly, is it achievable within your means? We have some excellent fanciers doon here with some results that make you wonder if you can reach them heights?? Is it the same all over?? or are simple goals easier on the pocket and the stress levels??
eastcoaster Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 the Macs have had these distance doo,s a couple oh years (i Know i handled them) and it is no secret that they have invested heavy in Brian Denny,Chris Gorden and a few others and they are class pigeons in the hand and if anyone can make tem win it will be the macs , but it will take time .

hotrod Posted September 23, 2012 Report Posted September 23, 2012 My opinions is some pigeons are top class in corridor racing ie fed racing all coming into the same area ,but when asked a question they fail , my mate got some ybs this year I was at his nearly every week to watch them homing ( as I never raced mine) but for some dodgy trapping he would have been at top of the fed result Most weeks ,when he got them I told him he was wasting his time he had better in loft , they were first home every week ,( made me look daft) but when asked a question at the SNRPC yb national he'd had 5/8 the 3 he was waiting for was these birds , look at our fed racing when going with south Lanarkshire, Glasgow wipes the floor with them most weeks but when it comes to the real races the tables are turned 9 times out of 10 , this is just an observation over the years
