yeboah Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 With the Solway Federation AGM this coming Sunday ,and a proposal being put to the members prior to voting on the race programme that we stick to the chosen route for 3 years and give the birds a chance to settle to a programme, then the vote for the proposed route's 3 of them it will come down to East v West and with the fed split on this one it will be a very close call,I would personally not like to call this one ,all depends on who are willing to turn up ,I no which i prefer but if beaten will just get on with it .

HOMER49 Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 No Middle for us,A1 East,M6 West ,Simples HiA1 east every timeCheersHomer 49
Walter swanston Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 I am not in a position to make any comment on this prior to the AGM Michael but it quite simply comes down to basic democracy I really hope that the fanciers who have strong opinions on the matter turn up to cast their vote
dal2 Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 HiA1 east every timeCheersHomer 49 Is it still a popular thought that you will loose less birds on the East side of the country? No in the Solways findings last year? At least no mine
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 Committing to east or west is there for the benefit of the fanciers and not the doos. We don't give the pigeons enough credit with the homing ability they were born and bred with. Changing route/direction after a year will do no harm, after all if going down the east flying into the solway then it will be a different route the pigeons will take as the racing progresses. If its the hawks that the Solway are trying to avoid then every member must play his part in dealing with the problem and give the doos there natural flight path flying into this part if the country. At least no mine I attended a pigeon presentation and moot last weekend in the Newcastle area and listening to the panel they had some terrible Yb losses ,so east ain't the holly grail some would like us to believe

Chris Little Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 Will never forget the disasters from Bellerby & Ripon
big blue bar Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 we fly down the east and i can say the losses i have had in last few years is terrible almost cleaned out( young birds only )the old birds have returned ok . i can t see any reason not to try down the west again . we raced west coast back when we first started up in the 80 s stafford , cheltenham , (dorchester not sure how west this race point was ) that was our three longest inland races then sartilly .Why were all these races stopped ?.DID THE FANCIERS ON THE EAST NOT WIN BACK THEN ? it seems every year the race point are getting further further east . like gareth says if it bops we are worryed about they are every where and must do every thing to clear the flight paths for our birds
tyson Posted November 16, 2011 Report Posted November 16, 2011 we midlothian fed went back down the west route this year and there was no where near the losses that we were getting down the eastside as I have said before I would like to see all the scottish feds back down the traditional route all the pigeons are flying north no risk of clashing with south roaders
ALF Posted November 16, 2011 Report Posted November 16, 2011 I have heard in the last couple of weeks that a few people in our own fed (Lanarkshire) wont go west including at least 1 club just a pity they didnae bother to turn up at the race programme meeting and vote :emoticon-0138-thinking: :emoticon-0138-thinking:
