Hi Forum Members

 

I sent 4 pigeons with SPDS this morning heading to Devon via uk pigeon couriers.

 

I have just had SPDS driver return my pigeons now nearly 8pm to my door.

He informs me that because he lived local to me he has kindly out of a gesture of good will returned them to me as i was his customer

I thought this was nice of the guy.!!He tells me as from early mid morning SPDS has gone into liquidation.

He also states that over 40 pigeons are left in the Aberdeen depot .in carry boxes.

I sincerely hope all owners of these birds will be informed .The driver explained to me nobody is in this depot and doors are all locked up including the pigeons,many of them youngsters

 

 

I am not sure if this topic has been covered today but nothing wrong with retelling the sad news of this reliable pigeon courier.

sad news they were a good service. and the birds locked up this surely is an offence under the animal welfare act 2006.

thats a shame they have been very good for the scottish fancier

 

i think the birds should be ok as the managers husband keeps pigeons

and they are both top notch people very careing

so the birds will be in good hands

I am very lucky he brought mine home as he only lives 9 miles away and felt he had a moral duty to return them as he was the pick up driver

Dave mate.The owner new of the liquidation a week ago and failed to inform staff until the authority's walked in this morning..

Aberdeen may not be the only depot with pigeons in transit. I think a call should be made to the SHU to see if they can do anything and also the SSPCA as the persons responsible could be prosecuted if the pigeons are made to suffer.

Sounds like a thoroughly decent bloke. The one's that come here are first class too. It is a tragedy that these poor lads may very well lose their jobs. Their service has always been first class and will be a real loss.

UK Pigeon Couriers have no birds at any of the depots.

We were not informed by SPDS about the closure and we only found out at 9.30pm by David who luckily had his birds returned.

All our customers who have outstanding orders with us with be informed of the situation.

Sad news indeed, they will be certainly missed in getting birds transported down through Scotland to the border regions for collection and at a resonable price too
