Just wondering if anyone else has noticed anything similar with their birds?Used colombovac for years and i must have jagged thousands of pigeons with it over the years for other fanciers and myself. The last few years I found that my ybs were having problems with sore necks after being jagged with it which i could not understand??? I have now changed to nobivac and the problem with the sore necks have dissapeared so i would recommend nobivac to anybody.

Guest IB Posted May 31, 2011 Report Posted May 31, 2011 I've used both Colombovac and Nobilis and would hesitate saying that they were either the same, or any different from each other as both use the very same strain of PMV - La Sota. I remember reading an article written by a vet that La Sota was used on the Continent 'to give the birds a boost' before a race. Felt that was funny considering some won't use it for the purpose it was intended. Both leaflets do talk about adverse reactions to the medication and there is an antidote, adrenaline, which I think would be administered by a vet.
JohnQuinn Posted May 31, 2011 Report Posted May 31, 2011 I have used both on my birds, it was always Colombovac i used as it is a water based injection which i preferred, however there were supply problems 2/3/4/ ?? years ago and i switched to the oil based Nobivac. My doos have never been up nor down with either of them and i have always bought it from a reputable suppliers which i would advise everyone to do. I cannot think of Any reason it would either boost/setback my birds regardless of which one i bought

Guest IB Posted May 31, 2011 Report Posted May 31, 2011 HiNow correct me if Iam wrongLa Sota is a live vaccineadministered in the water andbanned in the UKCheersHomer 49 Extract from Colombovac PMV Leaflet provided with each vaccine:- PresentationColombovac PMV is an inactivated vaccine based on an avian paramyxovirus serotype 1 vaccine strain; (Inactivated Newcastle Disease, strain La Sota). The VMD Website gives similar info for Nobilis. I think it's the live version of PMV vaccine that's banned.
