The ets systems in the uk use hitag s chips they are a read only chip so you can not write anything onto them to stay permanent.,so lot number can be changed

The ets chip when put into a magnetic field is energised and the read part of the landing board reads the chip code and passes this code to the ets base ,the base is programmed to only interpret in the case of unikon ,only chips that start with c9.

If the chip does start with c9 then the base looks into its pre programmed memory ,that secretary has done, and matches chip complete number to any in bas memory and hey presto your red cock su20av1111 is matched and clocked .

So if you cannot positively get chips starting with c9 they will not work unless unikon put out an update to make their clocks open clocks and they won’t do that ,but any new clock manufacturer to try to sell might at first use open clock until sales are depleated then close them up to run the business. On ring sales only.

Each ets manufacturer are now staying in business on mainly ring sales and provide support to us ,if they go bust who will repair them ,provide updates for smooth running ,so they are a nessesary evil until membership drops to zero and all we do is send to one loft races.

The question is how can this possibly be policed by the SHU?? In real terms the access to results, other than SNFC is nil, so if they don’t know what ring you timed with how can they hold anyone accountable for breaking this rule ??

It’s a piece of nonsense to protect their outlay on rings. A deal should never have been done with Unicom or any other company. It’s the fanciers business where he buys from or who.

It’s high time they stopped conspiring with the company because all that achieves is the company’s continued stranglehold on the system users. There are never ending sources of rings at a reduced cost and I canny remember the last time I needed tae go tae the SHU for them.

SHU don't need tae police this rule but we all know you don't buy your rings from SHU now john so you better hope nobody objects if you win a major race :drinking-coffee-200:

to be honest, I buy my rings from my union and have done so for 18 years don't mind paying a few extra quid tae keep the union going same with life rings

If extra money is needed put the dues up a couple of quid, don’t conspire way ETS companies against the members.

Should be at least £20 anyway but the old “status quo†is the first thing you hear when the subject of dues is brought up and pandemonium breaks out if they go up 50p. Ppl getting slated for it and every penny spent scrutinised.

There is also the question of where the pads are situated, Ive seen an increase this year of people buying these traps that are built in to aviaries where there is a slot underneath the board to fit your ETS pads, this does not meet the SHU rule that the bird must be timed within the Loft

The complete setup requires to be re-evaluated. The pigeon sport base is declining at the same time as it is modernising. More and more use of online facilities is occurring in some aspects of the sport whilst the member base has a fair percentage that does not use technology. Some rules are not keeping abreast with the developments. The financial income base is decreasing whilst the expenditure is increasing. The reserves that are held may not be fully required and should be used to build for the future by allowing the income to meet the expenditure. We can no longer sit on our laurels and bask in past glories, we have to face the future and be fully prepared for it, if not it will come anyway and then we will be engulfed.

Its the method of clocking that needs looking at Tommy, there are still some who use manual clocks and are quite happy to keep using them, but these traps put them at an even bigger disadvantage so maybe the clubs need to look at the positioning of the pads and bring back the rule regarding sealing the padsin to place at the start of the season. Also those who go and verify pigeons, ie at Federation or National level should be checking that pads are situated so the birds are times inside the lofts.

The old can of worms counter argument is the stall trap where they clock outside the loft. Pigeon racing is not fair and accurate and never will be. All we can hope for is the best attempt at equality we are able to achieve.

I would change the rule so that the pad is attached to the loft and give the manual clock a ten-second advantage that's my view on it but it would be good tae see what other fanciers think

Tommy you where right in proposing reducing the fees. I voted for your proposal at the council meeting and at the A G M. I certainly do not think they should be increased. The SHU Office Bearers have agreed that it will be status quo for all prices until the council have a proper meeting.

just hope the office bearers handle pigeon racing better this year and promote racing as soon as travel restrictions are lifted in Scotland this is what 90% of fanciers want :smiling-scarecrow-329:
