  1. Happy birthday.
  2. Good morning all.
  3. Alan, can't see the detail too well, but looks like it is held with tywraps and only a few staples. Tywraps become brittle and snap in the cold, so hopefully they were used for set-up only. If not, make sure there are enough staples holding the wire in case they snap during the course of the winter.
  4. Have a good night Andy. Great food in the Longniddry Inn, so I know you will enjoy that part.
  5. There are a lot of natural remedies out there, most being lost to the mists of time because modern methods are preferred. Often these old methods do work, perhaps just taking that bit longer to take effect, but modern society demand fast action. Keep posting the old ones Roly.
  6. Ian, when using carrots on your snowman, does the illness melt away?
  7. Happy birthday.
  8. I have in the past used Gary Spavin, Auchincruive, Retford Poultry and De Weerdt. Spavin found no problems and didn't try to sell anything. Auchincruive didn't find much, but also indicated that no treatment was required. Retford have found and recommended treatment, but have also indicated no treatment required on other occasions. De Weerdt I used because I wanted Parastop, so had to have a test. They indicated treatment was required. I vaccinate against PMV and Paratyphus. When new pigeons are introduced to the loft, I treat with Parastop prior to vaccination, thus the need to test via De Weerdt. Like Vinnie, they normally don't get anything except one spot. Except when new pigeons are introduced, they are usually in fairly good health. I am not experienced enough to know otherwise, but if they were really unwell, I would notice without doubt.
  9. Ask the vet for Pevadine. Make up a Pevadine / water solution and bathe her feet. It helps cool the inflammation and also fights the bacterial infection. Some of my Boxers had this condition. If you check the nails, you will find that there is a greasy discharge on them. Look carefully between the toes and you will see small spots. When they burst, there is a discharge from them also. The spots are the cause of the irritation and the licking opens them to infection, thus the inflammation and heat, again causing the licking. Sad to say, this never went away, but it did subside at times.
  10. Good morning all.
