  1. You are only saying that because the kids are starting to bang on about it. Just yesterday, the eldest said Tesco had Christmas items on the shelves. Commercialism gone daft. Bah Humbug.
  2. Treated to a continental breakfast this morning. Scored 2 Toblerones and a chocolate Orange. Oh and a nice bottle of malt, a bottle of whisky and Captain Morgans as well as a T shirt. If I drink all that alcohol I'll be spouting drivel on here, but then some things never change. Thanks for the kind wishes.
  3. Still here, but I am south of you.
  4. Good morning all.
  5. I'll post sizes later, but it sits inside the car.
  6. 1 Red Car / Van Box with Carrying Handles 3 off 1/2 sized Aluminium Crates with Drinkers Can hold 45 birds £150 OVNO
  7. Good morning all.
  8. Happy birthday.
  9. Good to see you are finally having a response Ian. Perhaps for future instead of asking for information you would be better designing a questionnaire. At least then you won't receive the debate without answers. Hope the questionnaire gives you something to work on.
  10. Good morning all.
  11. Lindsay, keep the chin up, somebody will hit it for you. :D There is always someone else who is worse off.
  12. Good morning all.

  14. Good morning all.
  15. All young, of any species, are susceptible to illness. I believe that YBS is a broad spectrum of many differing symptoms and secondary infections. Where and when did it start? I am not long enough in the game to answer that, but when I did keep pigeons back in the 60's, they either didn't get ill or didn't survive the illness. Old fashioned treatments usually ended up in the bin. We have better support from vets nowadays and therefore treat and save more of our pigeons. Is this from where the weakness has come or is it just that illnesses have mutated. As our standard of living increases, we tend to spend more on our hobbies. More research is funded and more sophistication is introduced. As Alan said on another thread, he tends to train them, race them and feed them accordingly. He wondered if we were making it too complicated for ourselves. Are we? Should we return to old fashioned methods where the bin will become the main recipient of those that become ill?
  16. Good morning all.

  21. Never tried them. I do make up a boost with Honey in it though.
  22. I haven't stated any tactics, just my treatment of latebreds. I normally breed around 18 and end with 12. I don't breed or race YB's. I have never won a race, so you are correct, my tactics are sh1te, but I enjoy it anyway. As I said, it all depends on what rocks your boat. It is not a problem to me that I am not competitive, but in OB racing there were only 5 fanciers competing for the OB averages in my Fed. I was one of them, so you could say, I'm an average fancier. Let me also state there were only 54 fanciers racing in the Fed and the Fed is a sprint Fed.
  23. Alan, I well accept that I am a novice with pigeons, but I have life experience and fancier experience in other fields. On an internet site, when someone posts a question, they have to accept many and varied replies from fanciers of all levels. It is then up to them to sort the wheat from the chaff. Not all my comments are chaff, even though they may not be the best of wheat. I enjoy looking at the answers myself. I am of the opinion that we are always learning and I have more to learn than others. I don't pose many, if any, internet questions myself. I prefer to listen to those fanciers whom I respect. Many of whom answer other people's questions posed on the internet. You also fall into that category as one who answers the questions. I also have those to whom I speak in person in a private manner. I'm sure even the top fanciers are able to find a gem when talking to another top fancier.
