Yes STB, you are 100% RIGHT. In today's climate it IS the fact that one can't afford to lose one. A fly away losing 30 and getting 23 reported at £35 a throw would make my eyes water that's for sure. Youngster on basic wage with mortgage and a couple of lad a a girl wanting what other children are having and a wife saying it has to be so etc. takes a sizeable chore in earning every week. Cutting clothe to make ends meet is bad enough without the wife saying YOUR hobby is unimportant and a waste of money! Then to top it ignorant gits spouting 'Well if they can't afford it then they shouldn't have them....' means more pack up and many more won't start ... then the ignorant gits spout about the costs of sending birds and club fees etc. The whinge and moan moan about the price of a bag of corn.... Breed a 100 youngsters or so to make up for their losses ... and curse and whinge none stop. It is the simple reality why the governing bodies - in my opinion - are lenient and turn a blind eye. These people needs common sense and reality to prevail and a helping hand with tolerance, not lambasted by those that should know better. Yes I agree the ignorant git like the twit spouting it isn't his bird wants to be told it will be sent by courier C.O.D. which may also incur over night housing costs etc. So yes it it depends a lot on attitude of the owner I know. But we can ALL help and SHOULD help each other. WE can all send and release a bird after a few days fed and watered. It costs nowt and may well keep a fancier in the sport. The more in.... the less the costs. Most have, and it has always been the vast majority, in the 56years I've been associated with the sport, a fact that the 'Working Class' are the main stay and grass roots of the fancy. The vast majority - who cared about there domestic duty's struggle some what. BUT they USED to pull together in the main. Never mind this 'Bully for me and tough muck to him' attitude, the one-upmanship etc. This sport needs more than ever for ALL to help and encourage those finding it tough to stay in the game … let alone enticing more to join us. Yes 'andyyy' should be peeved and rightly so. Yes I believe that particular so – called fancier wants sorting … but don't let us CONTINUE to tar all with the same brush!

As soon as the staumach is empty, or young attacking parents in the nests, then Crows are a quick and easy fix for a meal. I often think a nice egg well treated is a great treat for the vermin. Crow famil;y love eggs lying around on roof tops ... Syringes are a dapper way to inject their treats.

You will have to have a good view, patience and be out of sight to beat a crow. A tethered ferret may well help, as it does Magpies etc. - the crow family. How ever I have often warned folks about crows and the silly idea that they will keep hawks away. Nuisance value only. Amazingly when hawk is Hungry they run and hide as the RAP / B.O.P MAKE SHORT THRIFT OF THEM I KNOW MATES WHOS Y/BS WERE WIPED OUT BY CROWS. aTTACKING THEM ON ROOF TOPS... YES BIG ENOUGH TO FLY WELL. Have mates who have had the crows go into the loft and kill a feew. ALSO HAVE THE EGGS ... AND ONE WANTS TO ENTICE THEM AS THEY SOME TIME BADGER NOT TOO HUNGRY kAWKS / b.o.p. etc. I should coa - cao and never take the chance. I had oft time derailed the Magpies and crows. Have on seperate occassions seen the crows take over the Magpis nest jus 50 yards away from my loft. Then seen the S. Hawk take over their nest .... twice.
-
and by golly will you know it if you beat them lol. Headaches and 3 wrong weeks and one right one lol. Let alone the sulks and nagging ... I can see you both now in your seperate lofts no speaking to each other lol.
-
Guess it will be Bigda ... better have him spitting OUT the tent than In lol.
-
Will still mate on the floor...

I fear that they may well be back within the next three nights. Take a flask and wear long johns and a bin liner under thick jumpers and over coat.
-
OK I am wrong... doesn't matter a jot really. Might be a senile moment of mine lol. Best let it rest.
-
Well I see yet another post of mine has been taken off. Seems to me, though I might be wrong... ( That did happened once when I thought I was wrong, but was wrong in thinking that I was wrong lol). It was but another harmless post. No swearing or derogative comments etc. ... Well seems to me that when I posted a couple and then pulled a couple of Mods for being stupid and spouting rubbish, and told them to spout sense regardless how difficult it was for them, and explain why, it was above their means and ability to do so. Hence my posts disappear often now for no other reason than petty stupidity.

Well have memory stick .... But how then do you clean every thing? Lynsy I run that super Anti one. P.c. a darn site better and quicker, Thanks

Was one that a fancier put up that was actually free. I down loaded it and it made quite some difference. Nigh all say free but mean free to SO - CALL show what your computer has wrong with it and then try and charge you. Any one using one that is any good and genuinely free?

Well if you join the Fed then NO club can refuse to send your birds. Mate knew this, and believes that as A RPRA member they have to too.

True Alan. One only need to look at the Nationals and the wind to see what area's dominate. Seems to me that ALL the best flyers have by some quirk of nature been born in these locations. :emoticon-0138-
-
Only people that spout the rubbish and try to put down any advantages are those in the East, and or great Location. Most with a few brain cells just ignore them and their' stupidity because it insults ones intelligence.

I don't know about moaning if some in the club want to stick to manual. I offered 200 sec per birds on all arrivals and with the utmost happiness. I believe that a pigeon in a fast race can be a quarter of a mile behind and still beat a manual clocker easierly. 1760 means 15 secs. Not interested that with the Two can do it quicker. T3 or whatever. Another great boost is the birds won't / don't get trap shy. If ill etc. can set it up the night before and have a lay in etc. Plus many other boons. Draw back of course is cost, especially for a young man with mortgage and raising kids now a days.

Can't stop you using it. Learn to set it up and the sec / club members will be only too pleased to watch and make sure it is working and above board. ... In case you could rig it up to cheat lol. Others will quickly follow suit, after seeing the benefits and times and worked save marking night. etc. etc. Am in three clubs. 2 can use one don't want it and have a 'Gentleman's agreement' that they won't use it. I wrote and told them all exactly what is what. Yes I would tell then to stuff it and use it - have 3 or 4 others use it on the South Rd with me - But reason I don't is that they made concessions for me and the radious to let me in their club to fly North. Think it wouldn't sit right with me due to that fact"! Else I would and hang them.

For racing, training and getting back strays, British rail was way and above any road transpotation. They even had special air carraiges made for the fany, and we crapped on them from a great hieght. Birds put on train and basket there next morning with details of weather, wind and time released etc. Very cheap too. As for strays I remember it going up to 3/6d. 17 and a half pence. Sorry day when that all came to an end.

As I so often say on these pigeon site to those that encourage Crows etc. to keep hawks away, Don't believe it. Soon as peckish or peeved of they make short thrift of Crows families. But worse id Crows WILL go into a loft and kill young and eat eggs. Will take and kill young pigeons of the roof andf loft tops. Are and will be a right pain and so clever to boot. http://video.uk.msn.com/watch/video/birds-eye-view-camera-attached-to-falcons-back/2g1yfic4
