Think one has to look at the wording and ,meanings of Confine, Confined, Confines etc. All have different interpretations of course. Nothing is said that they have to be confided or controlled is as much that they can't moved / fly off. Simple reality is the fact that many manual clockers want a more level playing field and are trying to enforce unenforceable rules. I asked a member that sits on council if EVER any rules will be enforced. 'NO! of course not ... and if any rule was made as such does one really think that the Sectary or designated person(s) will, or will be able to attend at others clocking? Let alone get up Sunday morning and travel around! It will never happen. Like the verification of a winning bird, does it happen? (No of course not) What about club rulings ... they can't supersede the RPRA / WHU / SHU etc. rulings. Likewise as they can't supersede the ruling of the land. Let's face reality here, that could mean one club being handicapped - as they see it - against another club in the Fed or National! Won't happen, right or wrong, or whatever one wishes or hopes for, If any one wants to climb a rooftop or chimney, to clock a bird in so be it I say. It was meant, and is still, that a pigeon has to walk through and Opening ON TO a pad. Can one see that happening? Of course not. As for levied against time, yes. - Wont ever happen - but I would willingly give 15 second on my first birds arrival and 12 seconds there after. But the ET owners wouldn't entertain such an idea. Billy99 I'd ask him for the showing of the rule and it's legal interpretation, not a contrived one.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Criminal gambling charges have been filed against three members of the American Pigeon Racing Union in Oklahoma City. Karen Mae Clifton, Richard Wayne Mardis and James Orr Steele were charged Monday in Oklahoma County District Court with one count each of commercial gambling, betting or letting premises for betting on races, conspiracy to violate the Oklahoma Anti-Gambling Act and possession of a gambling device. The charges were filed following a 15-month investigation by the national animal rights group, PETA, or People For the Ethical Treatment of Animals. PETA hired undercover investigators who turned over video taken back in Nov. 2010 at the American Pigeon Racing Union’s convention, held a hotel in downtown Oklahoma City. PETA officials said it shows people illegally placing wagers on the birds. “Over $250,000 in illegal bets were placed on this race,†Jared Goodman said, counsel for PETA. Information filed with the charges in district court identifies a room at the hotel used specifically for “para-mutual wagering.†A police investigator interviewed those charged about a “pooling sheet†and several different kinds of bets referred to as a “Belgian pool,†“board pool,†and “winner take all.†One of those charged said the “AU Organization, would keep 15 percent of all money wagered.†“The investigation revealed that these pigeon racing clubs are nothing but unlawful gambling enterprises that offer widespread gambling on these races,†Goodman said. Mardis is quoted in court documents as telling the investigator, “Most of us (participants) do it (race) for fun and then we go to the conventions and we do it (bet) for entertainment; just like going to the casinos over there in southwest Louisiana.†But the investigator concludes his report by saying “… there is an established “house†running the gambling organization, thus removing any argument of a “friendly†or “individual†bet or wager.†The American Racing Pigeon Union (AU) has this statement on their website: “The AU is reviewing PETA’s allegations closely and is developing an appropriate response. It should be noted that pigeon racing has been a much beloved activity, across many cultures, for thousands of years. Today, pigeon hobbyists devote substantial resources to the care of their birds, as well as to community outreach efforts to engage kids in this animal-oriented activity. The American Racing Pigeon Union and its membership have been in the forefront of promoting ethical standards and practices to assure the well-being of the birds, compliance with all federal and state laws, and the advancement of this family-friendly hobby.†Clifton’s attorney, Robert G. McCampbell, sent us this statement: “Karen Clifton’s involvement in this case arises solely because she is Executive Director of the American Racing Pigeon Union. Her duties were to set up the ARPU Convention in 2010 including coordinating with the Mayor’s Office, arranging for hotel and convention space, obtaining pizza, arranging for table decorations and doing those types of tasks to put on a convention. It just makes no sense to file charges against her.†Added on 3/30/2013 4:07:32 AM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Midnight Blue, one of our own, replies! Since the beginning of history .. even back to the book of Genesis…Man had a wonderful affinity with animals. The Creator certainly had in mind for man and animal to cohabitate. God saw that it was good, and even gave man domain over all the animals. (Genesis 1:21 and 1:28) Are there people who choose to abuse this privilege (yes there are) …but there are far more how love and care for animals, and deserve to have them in and part of their everyday lives. Did you know that homing pigeons saved American lives in World War I as well as world War II. Those lives saved could have been your father, brother sister, or nephew. Thank God PETA wasn’t around then to disrupt the use of homing pigeons. Thank God PETA wasn’t around when horses and oxen were used to till the soil of this great land. Thank God PETA wasn’t around to stop the pony express from delivering the mail and news of the time. Thank God PETA wasn’t around to stop the covered wagons from exploring and giving people a chance to discover new lands and opportunities. Thank God PETA hasn’t been able to stop dogs and cats from comforting cancer patients, and the elderly. I could go on and on and on. How DARE PETA put themselves in a position to judge what God Almighty deemed good and wonderful. Pigeon fanciers are the most giving people I have ever known. The benefit causes and races out there to benefit and help others in need are endless among this fine fraternity of sportsmen. Pigeons are used to help ST. Jude’s Children’s Hospital kids. To help the victims of 911, to help the elderly, to give to those that have less. When ever someone is in any kind of trouble pigeon fanciers world wide step up and donate very expensive pigeons at auctions to help out. Sometime amounting to thousands of dollars that could go into their own pockets, but for go that for the sake of others. The world needs now to stand up against the likes of a PETA organization and urge them to see the greater good that animals, can and do bring to actual human beings. They’re sneaky and will beguile you with their unethical methods. They hide in the shadows, because they know they are wrong in what they do. There is much darkness in the world today…for God’s sake let’s not let some self righteous organization infringe upon our God-Given rights. Those of us who love and appreciate animals need to take a stand for what is right and what is good. Many crosses for lurchers that's for sure. I see they cross the Irish wolf hound with a Pit Bulls now to help drag down the deer. Well have actually for a few years now

Good speelling that eh. Any way what was decded or brought up at the meeting on Friday?

Well I think it should ALWAYS in be what's best of the pigeons. Who will do the best service and best Transporter. - As my logo below says every post... and could add Costs to bird and man alike. I, of course, know not of any transporter or their' standards, but I think the lesser ones should be vetoed and the better one chosen. This would not only raise the standard if needed, but would mean a good standard all around. As for the cost.... well simply tell the best one that they will earn £000's if they do it and nothing if they don't, besides the prestige of doing it. I also think that a great deal of thought should be given to the PRICE per bird and make it more affordable to ALL concerned. Indeed if the weather is good and the price sensible, then a sustainable and cost effective National could and should be achieved with many more birds being entered.. I also think that more Feds and Liberations should take the line of combined transported birds for the same reasons. No Cartel or behind the scene shenanigans, just sensible and realistic profits for a worth while and good job. Of course it goes without saying A. transporters have to pay their way and a profit made.

Forgiven the first time voted in ... and was after a very diffecult period of time. However she quickly CHANGED the boundries to ensure the SMALLER conservative votes got her back in. Indeed even disolved shires like Middlesex that no longer excist.

So! That's called progress. Stripping the miners and Steel works that produce the best, and cheapest products so her cronies could invest cheaply abroad was good EH! Till they come back and open cast it.

I see, as we all knew, that the her trial for illegal guns sales never came to court. Her Son Mark was told publically that the protection of his mothers was no longer valid and to stop creating coups and selling arms. Mother like son, son another Mother eh! a good and realistic, sensible reply.

Well the planned BBC strike says that if Nelson Mandella hits the news they would abort their strike and return to work ... Likewise if Thatcher then the strike will stay put. The two most used words used to sum her up and used with her name are 'Wicked' and 'Evil'. Fact. That about sums it up. Cost millins their jobs and 100 of thousands their' home. Gave away all our treasue to the rich ... and sold of the silver ware to pay for it!

About time eh! Let's hope we do the same. http://theloftreport.com/breaking-news-au-reponds/

Agreed Dave. I was though more in line of thinking that Member could, or should p.m you. I think for example that saying 'Rear just One' is could possibly be a good and sensible idea ... but it leaves the question 'What about the other one?

Whatever the post, we have watching eyes who are waiting --- like PETA. Best send that private I'd reckon. JMO

True, to one of the largest land owners after the Church of England. Further they get roughly £120 million from sweet old lady's / gentlemen's wills. Without the public donations and begging Boxes!

This statement is issued on behalf of the following Organisations which represent pigeon racing in the UK: RPRA – Royal Racing Pigeon Association WHPU – Welsh Homing Pigeon Union NWHU – North West Homing Union SHU - Scottish Homing Union NEHU – North of England Homing Union  As representatives of pigeon racing within the UK we are extremely concerned by findings from PETA’s investigation into pigeon racing in the UK. All pigeon racing unions work hard to promote positive animal husbandry. We are committed to safeguarding racing pigeons’ welfare in all aspects of life – including, but not limited to birds which take part in the sport. We advocate that all racing pigeons in the UK are well looked after at all times – and promote the highest possible standards in training and racing. We offer advice, carry out regular health checks, campaign for changes in law to protect our birds and enforce existing welfare guidelines through education and monitoring. Poor husbandry is frowned upon by fanciers and not accepted or tolerated by any of the racing pigeon unions. Individual acts of animal cruelty are not exclusive to pigeon racing or sports in which animals participate. None of the UK homing unions condone acts of cruelty against pigeons regrettably it remains a societal problem, carried out by an irresponsible minority. Racing pigeons offer company, affection, comfort and fun and in the vast majority of cases, they receive the care and respect they deserve. UK pigeon fanciers love their birds and their birds love racing – pigeons compete and race naturally every time they are released from their lofts. Losses do occur during races for a myriad of differing reasons – wire or other such hazard strike, predation by raptors and in the past few summers rapidly changing weather conditions on route. The last few summer’s very strange weather patterns has resulted in higher than normal losses when compared to the historic norms, this being despite shortened races, the improvements in weather forecasting and improved race communications. Lost racing pigeons can easily be reported and reunited with their owner. It is a requirement that every racing bird have a ring with a unique identification number. The RPRA, for example, has four designated phone lines for the reporting of lost pigeons and an established pigeon courier network. All unions have a similar method of repatriating stray pigeons. Pigeon racing is a long-standing British tradition. There are about 43,000 fanciers in the UK who race their pigeons from April to September, using the winter months for breeding and husbandry. The sport of pigeon racing is practised in all areas of the UK and the five unions representing the sport can be contacted should further information be required. March 2013 PETA’s UK pigeon racing investigation Anyone who picks up the phone, responds to emails or has direct contact with the public on behalf of pigeon racing should be made aware of this memo. Background: PETA's 15-month undercover investigations into pigeon racing in the US and UK mean we need to be ready for any media and possibly, public enquiries concerning welfare. The animal rights organisation has branded pigeon racing a blood sport. PETA's investigation, documenting mass casualties of birds during races and training and highlights the widespread killing of unwanted birds and training methods it describes as abusive. The two films should be watched to fully explain the first is the UK film – the second is the USA film produced by PETA http://action.peta.org.uk/ea-action/action?ea.client.id=5&ea.campaign.id=18689 http://www.peta.org/features/investigation-exposes-pigeon-racing-cruelty-aspx We need to be proactive and helpful in any instances of public or media enquiry. Adopting an emotional, defensive or rude stance will escalate the problem. What to do: Any enquiries concerning this issue received by a fancier, club or union should be forwarded immediately to their respective Union. If you do receive an inquiry of this nature: Do not be tempted to engage in conversation – explain that their enquiry is better handled by the Unions press officer and: -      Ask politely for their name in full Ask what it is they want to know -      Ask the name of the publication or media title they are working for If it is a journalist, ask if they have a deadline by which they need a response -      Obtain an email address and direct contact number -      Tell them that you will pass on this information straight away and they can expect contact from the press officer.

Well don't know how I did it lol, but

They have out now a very severe, nasty video calling the Queen and quote Mike Lakin quoted as saying we call the Channel a 'Grave yard' but as long as one or two make it, then the prestige is worth it. Can't seem to get them up. Also with this new Outlook carry on I can't seem to be able to forward it. Have 5.

Health eTalk with the Bel Marra Doctors. Doctor-Approved Advice and Products For Your Health and Well-Being Grapefruit Juice and Drug Overdose Chief Scientific Advisor, Dr. Victor Marchione, Shares His Views on Why You Should Say No to Grapefruit Juice Dear All As a doctor, I am not one to recommend the consumption of store bought fruit juices. As you've heard, many of the juices that claim to be "100 percent natural" with "no added ingredients" can often be pasteurized, processed, and stripped of their beneficial nutrients and enzymes. Not to mention the fact that consuming isolated fruit juice, without the presence of the fiber that the fruit originally contained, can wreak havoc on your blood sugar levels. Despite these facts, I will usually look the other way when I see someone consuming fruit juice. There is one exception though: grapefruit juice. Grapefruit juice, found on many breakfast tables around the world is a whole different story. Consuming a cup of fresh grapefruit juice may seem like a tasty, healthy way to quench your thirst – but you may be shocked to learn it may actually be putting your life at risk! Grapefruit Juice and Drug Overdoses Although not too many people are aware of this, over 20 years ago, researchers discovered that grapefruit juice can interact with certain types of prescribed medication and result in severe drug overdoses. Today, more than 85 different medications have been found to interact with grapefruit juice, 43 of which can cause serious health effects such as acute kidney failure, bone marrow suppression, renal toxicity, respiratory failure and even sudden death. What Exactly Makes Grapefruit Juice So Dangerous? The issue with grapefruit juice is a group of chemicals called furanocoumarins. When the grapefruit is squeezed to make juice, the furanocoumarins are forced into the juice. These furanocoumarins inhibit natural enzymes (called cytochrome P450) in your body. Cytochrome P450 is responsible for drug metabolism in humans. The furanocoumarins from the grapefruit juice block your body from metabolizing certain drugs, causing them to build up in your system to a potentially toxic level. What is even more alarming, is that just one serving of grapefruit juice can begin this process of drug build-up in your body, so that your body responds to a single dose of medication as if you had just taken several doses at once. Drug overdoses can occur even if you drank your grapefruit juice several hours before taking your medication! Perhaps the most unnerving part of this story is that many doctors aren't even aware of the dangers associated with grapefruit juice consumption while on medication. And many doctors who are aware are not warning their patients. To make matters worse, the highest consumers of grapefruit juice are adults over the age of 45, which is also the age group most likely to regularly take prescription medication. And as this age group also typically demonstrates a decreased ability to metabolize excessive concentrations of drugs, the build-up of medication caused by grapefruit juice can pose an even greater danger to them. The Groups of Medications That Can Negatively Interact With Grapefruit Juice There is an extensive and ever expanding list of the medications that react to grapefruit juice. Some of the broader categories of medications that can interact with grapefruit juice include: Certain anti-cancer drugs Anti-diabetic agents Anti-effective agents Anti-inflammatory agents Anti-lipemic agents Cardiovascular agents Central nervous system agents Estrogen drugs Gastrointestinal agents Immunosuppressant agents Urinary tract drugs For a list of the 85 drugs currently found to interact with grapefruit juice, CLICK HERE Yours in Good Health,

Fair enough that. Besides why post derogrative posts? Any one that wishes to do that has the means and know how any way. So is really not only silly.... but pointless.
