And the beauty is Owen that the Welsh are the true English, or so we were taught at school. Here is the English side win we are happy for a few hours... or till the pub closes lol. If England win and you speak or ask about, mention the game, most don't know what you are talking about. 'Oh I did see something about it on the news lol - Football a bit better, but sadly I'd say less than 15% of the actually public support and go to the games, let alone care. If, and when we lose, those that know take to berating the team and manager saying things like 'Well what do you expect, we never were any good... That manager, what's his name is rubbish'. I doubt very much if 10% of the whole population know who the Rugby manager is. Or even that a game is on. They skip over anything the eye don't relate or take notice off. Big games and tournaments a lot better of course. Athletics get a lot of media attention of course so this heightens the interest somewhat for the minute ... The Olympic was equally taken a lot of notice throughout the whole UK of course. We, many of us and concerns, wave our flags and try to arouse interest and support. Best mostly is 'We will see ... what we are doing that day lol. Joyce and I, for instance, try very had to get the family to watch Rugby. None so far. Had dinner down the daughters and son - laws for mothers day Saturday ( A day early to suit in- laws on Ricky's side etc.). Dinner was nigh cold and left that way because we hogged the tele to watch the game. Tried to eat it at half time ... when Ricky put it on hold. Ricky plays football, runs the marathons and has been to the last Twickenham game against Wales ... think his mates wanted to go, says great and enjoyed it ... not the result and watches it on tele let alone ever been since. But did take a trip with his family to the U.S.A. to watch Hatton got beat lol. Spent a little time in Hattons company ... But Rugby is never played at schools outside the private ones. I had a Welsh P.E. Master that made us play but could find another school to play against

Spent some time in Swansea recently. Wanted to meet up with some old sporting mates etc. Got talking to some locals and had a bit of leg pulling and good banter (Surprisingly lol) I asked if the rivalry is still keen between Cardiff and Swansea guessing that it was. The most amusing thing said was 'It is more personal and can get a bit out of hand and go over the top somewhat these days ... unless of course they have join hands to vent their' wrath at the English lol. Nationalistic eh. Yes I believe it means more than a win to them / you, be it the Welsh, Scots or the Irish. More a feather in the cap getting one over the 'Old Foe' lol. You know, coming to being proud of their national in-heritage. Well it just doesn't happen. Never has, but may do a little more as time goes by. Most English don't even know who St. George was, let alone when St. Georges day is. Never told about it at school or what not … used to have a May Queen and that was about it. Though that and the Maypole are long gone. I think London is more supportive and what not. Goes along with their 'Pearly Kings and Queens' like. We get told to take the flags out of the Cars and taken down from the Bedrooms and what not ... Meant a lot more take note and go out their way to put flags up - like Xmas decorations, having been told not to put any up outside by the councils. So I guess it would now be up to 5% who know the day and raise a flag. So it isn't ever a be all end all, or something other than a 'bigger Game' here. Sad, or no. Shamefully or not.

I think a £15 -£20 first bid is the norm for openers now adays... or not sold. Think it is about £35 is fair average. Some £20-£25. Others over a hundred depending on wh's and who is in the room and wants them. Some buy them as protential stock and lghtly race them of course etc.

Owen, well said... I remember though you calling not only the English style of play, but also the way the welsh played. I said then that a win is a win and it is results that count. So you agree then now, and we agree on something. Had a ragging in 2003 from some of my Aussie mates on the net, when we lifted the W/C with a last minute kicked drop goal. The Aussies said 'It is now way to win a world cup ….' I said one has to play to their' strengths, and cover their' weaknesses. That a few years down the line it will still be England Won in the record books, and how long and forgotten - outside of a few fierce Aussies lol. But you know, after this intense and physical struggle on Saturday – which I have no doubt it will be - I hope you will still buy me a pint when we meet lol. The biggest fear I have is after that brutal game against the Irish is that some won't want any more like that and yield a mite. Those that will, and there will quite possibly be one or two, still need to be tested. This game will show them up. I can't see any Welshman side stepping though. I think it is more about laying the foundations and gearing the sides up for the W/C. which is what really counts and matters. So a loss that will learn an great deal, and one that puts experience on the table will be all important for both sides. Class, as Ashton proved, struggles against seasoned pro's. But the youngster have to go through it ... and the sooner the better. So I think much of this coming game will be bad tempered which may reflect on the score via penalties. So Owen I believe that that result will be more on those use use their heads rather than their hearts. P.s. I have always thought of you as a determined winner mucker.

Owen tell the welsh boys not to be too worried ... We will be gentle and take it easy when we win lol. Personally I think it is a bit of English class against the tanacity and win at all costs of the welsh ... But afraid class will out lol. :002: :002:
  8. Won't make a jot of difference. Th hierarchy will be excluded and the lower not winning enough ... if they do then ok they will be looked into in the hope that they can be used as a scape goat. Was only the well off and top fanciers caught in Belgium ... so bad that the goverment had to intervene, because it was doing the fancy and over seas sales great harm.

Well I think , personally that that ref was so bad he is after that Welshman's title of worst ref this season. The one that doesn't even deserve to be named. I was only interested in seeing a good and fair game having no bias either way as to whom I wanted to win. The commentators put it nicely as inconsistent ... mostly against the Scots. To say he was poor in the least would be a sad joke. I think the Welsh edged it of course, but what help they had that could so easy have been so different. JMO As for the game, well I can't believe the poor kicking. On this showing it certainly makes England look good. No Owen I don't think Wales have a cat in hells chance next week. Besides if England do what is likely tomorrow against Italy, then the points difference would be insurmountable. Yes I know the Welsh want to beat England more than anything and will give it their all. But I fear it is but a loss cause.
  12. Well what does one think! TriColi-STOP any one used it yet? Can put up a page of tyhe seller tomorrow if wanted.

I think the Irish and France game will be a very hard and brutal game. A win at all costs here and should be a very good and exciting game to watch. I lean ashamedly to the French for a win here. They were favourites because of the class and strengths at the beginning of the season. One doesn't become a bad side over night. Something to prove more than the Irish I fear here. It is good to see the changes in the English side. Good and classy players coming in, mostly with a little national experience with Flood and Care etc. It shows the depth of the squad etc. But overall it is amazing how few international caps have actually been won between them. Many under ten, and even more still under 5! That must auger well for the future and the W/C which ALL sides must now have one eye on. It is, of course it is, the right game to make these changes in a learning curve and gelling together against - not being unkind - to a Italian side full of grit and groan and triers giving their all .. if not top flight in the main. Shocks can, and do happen of course, but it would be a bit harder to say the least to experiment any against the Welsh which will really be up for it as usual with a vengeance against the English next week. Yes the Lions Tour will be another for some no doubt. Can't see for the life of me why Rob Shaw won't be captain there also. Young and learning fast. OK he made a mistake against S. Africa which most likely cost the English the game... Beat the all Blacks a feat within it's self
  14. I think it will be tight in as much as pride and passion takes it place and plays it's part, and rightly so. Though under this new manager Scotland have come on in leaps and bounds, there is no substitute - in the main and the 'rule of the thumb', for experience and a tad of class. So I think Wales will win by about 10 -12 points.
  15. Yes and the Bussearts are more than holding their own against all comers and distances. Especially when one considers they are out number times over times.

I thought she did well again today. Different race of course but acquitted herself very well. The time she did yesterday of 4min 12sec would have, in theory, won her the Silver meal today. But of course it was a very tactical race for the silver and bronze, which means tactics and experience count a lot. Still well done Laura, I believe and hope to see a lot more of you in the future.
  17. The RSPB are just a money making machine that are one hell of a land owner now to boot. They get over £120 million alone every year from the old dears wills ... TO look after their Robins etc. The £millions they raise every year goes to bolster their coffers and grease smarmy hands. Why would any one - in reality and not taking a punt at you Ghost rider, believe that they care, or worse still need to!

Was great, and thrilling, to see such a great and gritty performance from a young Scot girl. A P.B to boot at the European indoors. Showed - to me any way - the pride and passion, tanacity that once nigh ALL Scottish players wore on their sleeves at all sports. Great run gal! let's hope there is another P.B. next run.

Good post Owen granted. However, possibly like soccer and grinding out wins, a win is a win. South Africa, and New Zealand are past masters ... Aussies more open granted. But to win the W/C they have to be BEAT, and I feel that is this has to be, and England are very good on the defensive mould, then so be it. Many play good games that are enjoyable games but lose ... and are forgotten when the 'Winners' pick up the trophies and titles. Mind I may be bias in that I do enjoy the new facet England are bringing into their game. Like Ireland that did England last time on their home ground. they simply picked the lands up and didn't allow they to pass the ball . The could only hold it or drop it ... and it worked a treat. Think the days of Merv the swerve and other greats will always be match winners, but the chances are far, far more hard to achieve.

    6 Nations

Regardless of the Irish pocession etc. etc. I feel that the Scots are starting to play, and right through the game, with the tanacity and pride they used to be renowned for. The manager is instilling some belief in themselfs I think, and adding different dimensions to their game. OK perhap a way to go yet, but a very marked improvemnet in the right direction I feel. Can Hamilton be as inspirational as the great Gavin ... Scotland need one or two now and ... who knows.

Well I think that the experience brought back in,and the determination of the French meant that England played below what most expect. They wasn't allowed to be at their best. But again one can only play as good, or look as good for that matter, as the opposition allows. And they hit all the vunerable parts ... But it is surely a mark of a good, or great side that can still come back and grind out a result. I further believe that it was another very useful and good lesson and learning curve for such a young and inexperiencd side. So come on, give credit where credit is due ... Well done England. As for Refs, well the Welsh still have the worst again this season ... who's name doesn't deserve to be mentioned.

Well we are deafened by the silence eh! It is certainly, for sure, a good sign that England are doing well... especially when not even a snipe lol from the anti hopefuls lol. Having said that, France have made 6 - 7 changes and will certainly be up for this game ... Something to prove! It will be another physical game I guess. Not so brutal as the Irish V England I hope, but one where no quarter will be asked or given. France do have some very good players,no doubt about that! Yes 2 -3 match winners to boot. So I would say it is a nigh ceratinty that Englang will give away a few penalties ... even a try! But it has to be another great gelling chance for England's steady and sturdy rise and learning team and young team. Augers well for 18 months time and the W/C hopefully. I am surprise, as I said before, how few have reach 20 caps for England, and more so the number not reaching double figures. Com :002: :002: :emoticon-0140-rofl: e on England
  24. Like I say, and hundreds of others. Two National winners confirmed again this past Sunday'Spit in the ye' Especially if a heavy smoker. Has and does always work. Planet Earth and common senseis where I am from. The part where wasting money and bolstering others coffers is thought highly foolish. Where it is best to ignore the big headed and ego trippers. Especially, those that have very little common knowlegde always Boo hoo common sense and past remedies because of ignorance and oft own stupidity. What is overlooked and very valid is that the Mouth, tongue etc. is, and has it's own Medicine box. It carries very many remedies. like a dog etc. Animals, much goodnss and remedies are within the slava etc. Why pay says I when I have used like most simple and effective remedies THAT work?! Mind would love to know how and why only one eye is picked on lol. It is but as I say. say your money.
  25. A FIT man trains to get fitter. Likewise pigeons.Until loft fit, and contented and coming into condition, you can't do nothing except to bring them down. Taking of roof tops and chasing any thing that moves with arched necks stretching out and wings pulling downwards .. till then leave them a lone ... Yes they will tear open the skies a part and say Ready!... 6 - 7 weeks then racing... super form.
