  1. Alf spout with the voice of reason and logic ....' Time for any politics involved to be put to bed Glasgow/Lanarkshire/South Lanarkshire should all be on the same transporter at these races .... But vested egos and of those so called elected for the GOOD of the sport and members, fear losing a mite advantage. Often by the ONE WE VOTED! Which means it will never happen! Dang the costs when fancies keeping putting their hand in their pockets to furbish so call committees with vested interests - who put self first with glib tongues that tickle ears.
  2. Most can't afford to send for strays, so a blind eye has had to become the norm in regards the strays ruling. 'Many just about afford to keep the doo's BUT not afford to lose them'! £5 a ring! Well it may have one good thing going it for it - if any, and that it may cut down on the numbers of culls bred ... Well of course it would, because fanciers would leave in their' doves. Just imagine the reaction of the wife's when trying to get new shoes for the kids etc. AFTER struggling to pay the mortgage, and then the fancier saying 'Sorry love, they will have to go short for a while longer as I need to save £500 for the pigeons Rings ... should be able to in say 6 or 7 weeks'! Lol NO! not funny, especially as much more NEEDS BE'S will be on the door step in those 6 -7 weeks! It just shows yet again how so many with a few bob have a lack, even a care, for the grass roots that they tend to take advantage of week in and week out. Often wonder what planet they think WE are ON!.
  3. Well done New flyer... you make many ashamed. If only more were as such. Sad and strange how the good ones often take an unfair punch eh!
  4. Personally I think the fancier deserves a pat on the back and a great cheer for what he did. Sadly, today, so few bother even to reply, and many more ask if they could ... So well done that fancier. Regards Sue, I feel she would have like to have kept Henry, and to see him well again. Maybe a Dove cote and some squeakers wouldn't go amiss ... but then would she be so interested in looking after a bird full time? Maybe yes... maybe no, but there must be many fanciers near to her that should could enjoy their company and a chat.
  5. Mark Gilbert took a loft of his dads lofts dropping and spread it into his new loft... weeks before he went to Louella and bought his first birds.
  6. What amount Ian? Different strengths etc. and different kills. I've often posted that it doesn't discriminate ... Kills all good and bad alike. Can destroy a immune system over night ... one that has took years to build up in a loft etc. JMO
  7. could it not be ,someone putting it in the basket to give it a chance to home, it must be rubber rung to do so, THE FIFER (ADMIN) BUT one thing for certain is that you were let know it had been in another's loft.
  8. I think that the post was excellent to say the least. Add to that that back gardens are ever decreasing and allotment's likewise. Yet still one mustn't forget the blame that can be, and should be placed at the fanciers own door step. The whole concept of the social and sporting elements are swamped and sadly very quickly becoming a thing of the past. I bet you all we could name at least a dozen of stupidities and selfish irresponsible acts by fanciers. Another dozen or so at least by those in position the safe guard and voted in to help and safe guard the hobby most od us have loved faithfully down through the years. JMO But a good post never the less Showman. I wish every happiness for the future ...
  9. Have retired birds and then change the bird with no problem on same computer in club, like many others no doubt. Always believe that it could only be done by cancelling the number in the original computer.
  10. Ok - didn't know or think it was possible. We learn every day thanks. ... but then it is but a small price to pay for the knowledge. Fanciers pay extraordinary high prices for Feed, meds and pigeons etc. the quibble of a quid. Like I say, I'd be happy for the info at that price. For instance I have a 3 year old grizzle... Never ever homed inside a week lol. Great youngster like... Three months or more away. ends it racing for that season lol. Just this past Thursday came back from it's 180 miler. Great condition and RUBBER in tact. Has it been fielding as many are led to believe .... or in another, or many lofts loft hiking? Now if only the rubber was missing ....
  11. Why would anyone STEAL a ET Ring. Can't use it, so waste of time. Mind to be honest YOU would never have known it had gone into another's loft. Small price to pay for the knowledge eh! Of course.
  12. You know, a bird is missing for a few weeks or so. Comes back in great / good or bad condition, whatever. The most common thought and question is 'I WONDER where it has been ... in loft, fielding etc. Gosh one would be happy to pay a few quiddies to know.... If the E.T. ring is then you KNOW the bird has most like 99% been in another loft ... knowledge well worth a £1.
  13. One used to take the rubber off to let you know it had been in the loft. If stayed then reported. Can't be done now obviously to all birds. No rubbers now ... Think it is well worth the £1 to be informed that it has been in another's loft personally. Indeed a £1 or so well spent. Then the owner has more information as exactly what the bird has done. A. been in a loft and released to arrive home... etc. So I don't mind a rat's backside if they take the E.T. Ring off, for I personally want to know any and everything I can to add to the equation of the birds true merits. JMO. Have had a couple of rings / clip on come off. I don't use super glue, but had thought of it. Jim said a simple reality... You can use it again on your birds! Simple if club computer is used ... can't be done on another's computer'
  14. 70 miles eh! Mine used to go straight in at 140 miles. Will do again in future. Club mate never trains any of his South roaders and does real well. Indeed they fare better mostly than the North Roaders that are trained, and have been trained, consistently. Days of Trains and pre cars being able meant that most birds excelled once sent. Indeed did the full program and at most seasons end was a job to make way for the nest boxes. If a circle is the size of a running track, how many miles do they cover circling! If they have finished ranging they have covered far more distances in ALL directions than any training toss. Training is for getting mileage under the wings if and when needed ....(Loft system?)and fanciers own beliefs. they are natural athletes and not human when one has to work out and stick to a regime I believe. Will say that losses are far, far more if trained in small steps etc. - Was my biggest mistake. Soon to be put right.
  15. Cheap crap :emoticon-0136-giggle: :emoticon-0136-giggle: Well true, at a dear price lol
  16. As You Mature, It's The Little Things That Don't Seem To Matter As Much As They used To! This chick looked at my beer belly last night and sarcastically said, "Is that Lager or Beer?" I said, "There's a tap underneath; taste it and find out." I was talking to a girl in the bar last night. She said, "If you lost a few pounds, had a shave and got your hair cut, you'd look all right." I said, "If I did that, I'd be talking to your friends over there instead of you." I was telling a girl in the pub about my ability to guess what day a woman was born just by feeling her boobs. "Really" she said, "Go on then - try." After about thirty seconds of fondling she began to lose patience and said, "Come on, what day was I born?" I said, "Yesterday." I got caught taking a p*ss in the local swimming pool today. The lifeguard yelled at me so loud, I nearly fell in. I went to the pub last night and saw an obese chick dancing on a table. I said, "Great legs." She giggled and said with a smile, "Do you really think so?" I said, "Definitely! Most tables would have collapsed by now."

Be nice if the result sheet could be put up.... or am I looking in wrong place?
  21. Think, personally, that we should all wait and see any outcome, if any at all. The rings is collected would have a pretty clear indication as to where they are from ... and quite possibly why they were there. JMO.
  22. Well done Frank Jnr. Your dad would be proud of yer. Keep it going.
  23. Yep ... dementia of short memory lol ... especially when some one asks any loans back lol
  24. I don't think peregrines can tell a pigeon transporter if they are enclosed but I am sure they get to know liberation sites. Well said that man.
  25. we are the intelligent ones eh! Supposedly! Yet week in and week out the same lib sites are used. At the meetings to discuss the race program, discussed in length. 80% agree it is a stupid place to lib, and feed Percy and Co ... and then vote the same lib points in. No wonder the RSPB laugh and say 'You can't be serious ... Why you send there every week' Lol)! REASON?! afraid OF LOSING advantage and not the birds Maybe after other sites have liberated, earlier, they could pull their transporter in and act as decoys lol. Don't know about the West side and Percy sites in Scotland - Agreed they are every where ... But surely in this day and age with all the mod communications, a realistic strategy of alternative sites and coasts could, and should, be put into effect!
