  1. Saw a post on here, where a Sparrow H was eating another Sparrow H.
  2. Good post JarGre. Lots of truth there. Horses for course and roads leading of to Rome etc. Must be many ways to unite, if promoting in different spreels. If 10 different ways are tried, and all only averaged 10% sucess and lea way into this problem, then that is 50% of something hat has helped.... far far better than sitting back and whinging. So yes, what ever works for individuals can only be of an advantage if they actual get of back sides and did something. Something that they actually feel is right and worthwhile.

    Roaming

Pigeonpete, many as I have often stated insisted on training before they are allowed to roam. Many roads lead to Rome. Me, I like them searching the skies and disapearing. Love their swooping and soaring in sheer delelight and zest. then they do just as the like, till week of first birds race for them. 3 chucks and into the race. But am being taught a few home truths in this score too over the last two season.
  4. So pleased for you Grasshopper Lofts. That will stand them in good stead. Allow 2/3/4 days now of them just piddling about in the garden / roof hopping. There is no need to train etc. yet any way. This will rein force the confidence and let them grow very contented. Only contented birds win races. Indeed if they are contented, there is not much chance of them homing with any zest.... and very hard - if not impossib;e - to condition them

    Roaming

Strange that Bob, Had same trouble with them last couple of years.... never done any good with them, Thought it was because they were all bought in. Remember well An article by Bilco late 80's where he stated same about Wires, took a couple of years for the birds to know that tjhey were there. Had many hit them.... after 2 years hardly if any hit them. Thought it was because it was 'Bred' in them. Now I see the y/bs bred down ranging singularly like I;ve never seen before.... the later introduction y/bs hardly want out their loft. Laze around and pick and peck. Took an older yougster - that hardly ever stay out long, and never ever even flew upto the top and put him up 20 yards facing the loft. Flew into a bush. Then up on the loft. Up and own a few times in the next four hours. At 7 Roof top and up and down. 7 300 circled around. lnded on roof a couple of time.... never seen him again yet. Hopefully his first night out will wett an appertite to be back home... or not. Maybe he will settle over the road with the 100's on the ole cinema.
  6. Agree Merlin 100%. Saw a good article where the theory was that townies stay flightless for longer up and down whereas our birds exercise or are fling somewhere and are hence in a more vunerable position for the Perry to get hieght and swoop. Had a Feral Squeaker in and out the loft yesterday, sill had a fair bit of downing on it. Would love it to frequent and settle in the loft. Won't get a better watch out. They have now an inbred instinctive awareness...
  7. Yep sure look the part. See well ventilated.... that and clean clear bood is 70% of being there I guess.
  8. I do, but know it would never happen. Edward it like Perry is very careful regards ducks. Unless sure to grab and clear he will uickly change or drop. Won't risk getting wet.
  9. stb I have being saying the same for so long. Would give the fancier ample time to restock and build an over sized team. Yes a few times out to let them get aense of direction and home a couple of odd tosses and Roberts your mothers brother. The fancier as vast whole won't even dwell, let alone consider the idea though. Yes of course it would work. Why? because when I first read about the idea in the BHW it was swapped all of a sudden will 'New unknown names berating and lying reasons why it wouldn't. Yes from the B.O.P / Hawk faternity. THEN you know you are cooking on gass. like Pour on. The advertising saying how great it was (Imvertim) was for their birds, what wonderful stuff.... Not the 'Pour On one though, but the B.O.P ceratinly filled pages, forums etc. etc. stating this that and the other.... So yes 95% of the fancy believe it was useless. Still do. Several others state differently and you KNOW when the B.O.P. come out the closets Bull **ting that they are worried. But stb, being right is so frustrating, for it will never, mores the pity, ever happen.
  10. Of the 53 Dickin Medals awarded, 18 were presented to dogs, 3 to horses, 1 to a cat, and 31 to pigeons. http://members.tripod.com/saso_loft/racers/dicken.html
  11. Old timers, before training, like I often did too, would take the youngsters up to tye Fed Li site and release them with the Barnsley / Sheffield lot. Only after they had finished ranging of course. Some broke straight off, others later, the rest would have had a good fly too and start getting back at 4 30 or so in afternoon. The odd late comer in early morning. Losses? Very few.
  12. I hand feed if and when possible. 1/2 in morning ... trap if out and a little tib bit... Hekp, aniseed, Blue Ribband. Then feed by hand in loft at night - Also combats the cold and warms them at night. as soon as a few start moving awa stop feeding. Later ones will be a bit keener next time. Don't believe in just chucking 12 oz in for 24 birds and walking away.... some earlier eat too much, and trap lazier next day... others get nowt where that need some. best to get all in and hand feed as I said.... as soon as some move away, stop feding. Keeps them all keen and also fed.
  13. Strapper don't they know, realise yet your importance, and that you should be allowed to post where you like lol ... after all it is mostly driffle lol. :) :P ;D ;D ;D ;D

It seems your Message box is over loaded lol.
  17. Well you are perfectedly legal to claim and have damages against a cat owner who's cat kills or damages your bird, (Yes some kind of proof would be needed I guess unfortunately lol)so why not hawks.... :-/ Wild hawks of course wouldn't be nigh impossible to sue the RSPB, would take years and cost a fortune, and regardless what one may think, Cash has to be up front! And that would be upteen thousands of pounds.
  18. Was a program on T.V. about that... Horsefield and such boo - hooed that they really do try that. Showed the pigeons just moved away a hundred feet, then when chased again, they just moved back So trying to scare them was proved a well laid fallacy. As Horsefield said, and his firm clears Run Ways etc. the hawk kills and brings back. Never mind Tethering their beaks and claws, etc. this would nevver be comtemplated... Besides a waste of time, what if the hawk absconed as they have been proned to do.... not able to kill to live! Never happens, or ever will.

    Sorry!

I would like to unreservedly say I am sorry to Chris, Numpty01 for my uncalled remarks about his spellings. It was in very bad taste and was no need for it. This has of course nothing to do with his heart / beliefs and was childish on my behalf to be so unfeeling in spout that. I genuine feel remorse on that account. Sorry Chris. As for any thing else, well… Now perhap we can lock this one too.

Let the little gits mother's buy their own hankerchiefs lol... Wedon't care lol ;D ;D But as of now I shalln't bother answering irrelevant question... and if others don't, then sensible threads won't be jepodise eh! End of.

    Great news

Fine numpty01, and with you having the last word, we'll leave it at that.

    Great news

numpty01! Don't you think you would be better off going back to school and learning how to spell. What and why, where punctuations are needed and where to put them. No need to let you disrupt this, and other posts. They are here for those that care. As you state, you don't wish to be associated. Fine, then don't, go with our blessings and please refrain from being a egoistic fellow downing and slating our efforts. Yes I did ask you, like a lot more as I was testing and feeling out the land. Was to be honest against most others better advice, but fortunately you turned it down. I doubt if you will ever be asked again. Now instead of debating, may we ALL suggest you just let it be. Your garbage you spout in self - importance is just that, and I as such for one won't give any credence to your baloney. End of. Now back to realism eh!

    Great news

Thanks Black W/F. Much appreciated. Would 'Tosh' you plonker and the other two, please refrain from emailing me your idiotic and nonsensical codswallop. I’m not impressed, nor concerned. For I actually do have the support of many! Many are, and will. do exactly opposite what your say they won't. Further as you are anti, sat outside of the tent trying to spit in, may I respectfully suggest, you and the other couple of plonkers Emailing me to get a life. Go clean out your birds if capable, or indeed have any, and do something useful. Gosh your' very argument about 'Secret Committees' you yourselves have blown out the water. I mean, just who needs codswallop and untruths, and insults from the likes of you! No one, and that there is the very reason why Committee members will never be named. The insults I'm getting from ignorant bigots - brain dead admitted - would not be tolerated by most. Indeed why should they be!? When only trying to help and benefit, not only the sport as a whole, it’s members, but idiots like you! So there you have it, we do indeed need to be protected them from the likes of you. P.s. and certainly will do! P.s. One never hears much commotion about the Free Masons’ eh. An organisation I believe you actually belong too. No! no need to spout on… just get the message and a life.

Thanks for the reply Stu, much appreciated. Yes we do need to get straight on, and get this put into action / motion.

    Great news

:-/ :o Firstly it isn't a secret society. Secondarily the reply to Numpty01 was well deserved. It is because of the ludicriss, egos, wanting to know useless things, self importance and THE very posts Ffrom the first two that one doesn't want to be on a comittee. Indeed why should the be scrutinised for trying to benefit every fancier! :-/ :-/ If one donsn't want to put up, even support us, but is sit outside the tent please refrain from spitting in it!. Factual that! Secondarily, any fair and reasonable minded persons will instantly see the sense in it. Just who wants the RSPB and their 'Ddirty tricks', campaigns, their'power and manipulations, the acess to the media hounding them? You! Well not one with half a brain, and that's for sure. Further, it is for the very responce from the first two that underlines the need for the comittee not to be named! Their' actions, decision, and where and how monies IS SPEND, appropiated should be just fine. Other than that there is simply no reason to know... Best that they can't be emailed, debated with or called on a public domain - So genuine persons won't mind.... others needn't give or support, give, is as simple as that. EVERYONE is invited, all have choice whether to support or not.... so why do they need to know names... Besides names here are in the most only names used on the site, and not real. So I and most will stand by and agree.... if don't then why bother to support? :-/ And if not supporting then why do they need to know? :-/ :-/ :o
