    Chasing Averages

Yep, get the blood in the loft in numbers, then risk losing it. You won't and it may well be greater - should be - next season. But the best thing after any decent race is rest.... then they are raring to go. Edmunds used to send if fit, even if they won three 1st feds that season... it went if conditioned.... Me, well i would have sent upto a last year. one race nigh wiped me out... worst is, it was my fault more than the smash race.... A bridge too far. Said 'Here to race, sort them out. Normal race and they'd been here... only got 2 out of 10, and they were like almost all that got them out of race time. 15 only time in in Fed etc.
  2. Yes he has them. Thought that it was a of Louella Invincible /Smagd1 and 11 etc. that produce the Dax winner.
  3. You're a good lad mucker, most will appreciate it. ... Except me of course as they didnae cum dis way lol ;D ;D ;D
  4. ~ ~ ~ ~ This is interesting . . . * Margarine was originally manufactured to fatten turkeys. * When it killed the turkeys, the people who had put all the money into the research wanted a payback so they put their heads together to figure out what to do with this product to get their money back. * It was a white substance with no food appeal so they added the yellow coloring and sold it to people to use in place of butter. * How do you like it? * They have come out with some clever new flavorings. DO YOU KNOW...the difference between margarine and butter? Read on to the end...gets very interesting! * Both have the same amount of calories. * Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams compared to 5 grams. * Eating margarine can increase heart disease in women by 53% over eating the same amount of butter, according to a recent Harvard Medical Study. * Eating butter increases the absorption of many other nutrients in other foods. * Butter has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few only because they are added! * Butter tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavors of other foods. * Butter has been around for centuries where margarine has been around for less than 100 years. And now, for Margarine... * Very high in trans fatty acids. * Triple risk of coronary heart disease. * Increases total cholesterol and LDL (this is the bad cholesterol) and lowers HDL cholesterol, (the good cholesterol) * Increases the risk of cancers up to five fold. * Lowers quality of breast milk. * Decreases immune response. * Decreases insulin response. And here's the most disturbing fact.... HERE IS THE PART THAT IS VERY INTERESTING ! * Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC... * This fact alone was enough to have me avoiding margarine for life and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is added, changing the molecular structure of the substance). You can try this yourself: * Purchase a tub of margarine and leave it in your garage or shaded area. Within a couple of days you will note a couple of things: * No flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it (that should tell you something) * It does not rot or smell differently because it has no nutritional value * Nothing will grow on it. Even those teeny weenie microorganisms will not a find a home to grow. Why? Because it is nearly plastic. Would you melt your Tupperware and spread that on your toast? Share This With Your Friends..... (If you want to "butter them up")! Chinese Proverb: "When someone shares something of value with you and you benefit from it, You have a moral obligation to share it with others." People don't care how much you know...Until they know how much you care
  5. And one splits them into half, thirds or quarters. Some crash, last lot home first, second lot dribble back a few days later... etc. So in theory if all went last they'd be home, safe and sound and as snug as bugs in the loft. That's pigeons I guess. etc. etc

The North sea gas / Oil piping and what not was being done, it was imperative to have acruate forecasts. There was many heavy and fixings at a lot of money. 'Clear Time' to enable time for the operation was a must. This was done by the R.A.F. This turned out to be very good within in a couple of minutes. This litually said 1 28 so and so till 2 45 then 2 46 to 2 57 it will be. To say it was acruate is an understatement. they was approach in regards Line Flights and liberations in the early 70's. Fine and great time they charge a little... What and it's free on the BBC! So they shot themselves in the foot again there. The R.A.F now price themselves out I believe, ... because we ain't worth the hassle.
  8. Good on yer gal ... my order for 6 next season is now with you ;) Well done.
  9. No one distracts from a National winner. A winner is a winner. In the 123 years or so in this area there have been just three so - called national winners. Now when one takes in consideration the likes of Frankie George, agreat rival - friendly rivalry - with Louis Masserella and co, had very the best money could buy. Had the crack managers, built them houses and lofts. Paid world record prices Like 'Morning Cloud' etc. etc. and at best he had good section wins, so thing tells mosy something. So no I have no National winner in my loft... probably better birds though than some that were, are, National winner though ;D ;D
  10. You can take it how you like. But I seldom ever bother to get out of bed for a sprint or middle distance and that's a fact. Don't think that today, with a proven family, that you even need them to prepare for the Distance by using this shorter races as once was believed either. So yes, I have time for those that do the shorter races. Yes I sponsor their' races every week - we all pay a set fee for all races, exept the distance in our club, but as it was pased as such I have to pay for them other races I'm not interested in. But it is a challenge for man and bird. Much more so than sprint and middle distance, because for another simple fact, every year everyone outside of who actually won the sprints and Middle distance, no body remembers. Whereas ever good bird from the longer distances, even those that flew well to be placed are known to all, NOT only next year, but for years on end. I mean just who remembers or cares that 23 birds were clocked within a second.... No one. You will remeber a hard Lerwicke winner every year, and those distance flyers.
  11. Hallam eh! As long as your dad didn't fly the Busearts lol. Welcome aboard. Get a local to get some 'Latebreds' for you'. Let them just hand around your loft (the odd chuck on nice windles and sunny days won't hurt none. Then breed of them and race the youngsters next year. Good luck to yer.
  12. I think Vincents Smiths part regards the distance and Nationals etc. brings home the part which one or two may have missed, the word 'CHALLENGING'! and I for one would go along with that. Hear the Antwerp birds hit the area in 100's well 1000's all into a small area. So yes the 'Clocking in used to be so very importanr. Now, well Et's have took a chunk out of that. And all are in the same boat. So yes I believe the Distances races are the most challenging, especially on hard days. Again location / wind of course plays a big part. But from say 575 miles upwards when the distance race start, birds have to have a bit about them. Bred with good constitutions and heart. Then the easy part is the owner to sit around idly and wait ... Some say that that is the hard bit :-/ :o lol ;D But nothing excites like that worn and weary bird dropping from the distance. Yes a slight flutter etc. on the short sprints... but from the 625 Pau etc. or more, that feeling, regardless how well the birds done lingers for a flipping long time. Sprint, well you go shopping after wards and forget it till you strike off. Distance everyone WANTS to know. 250 miles well... Yes it has to have done it granted.
  13. Chocolate Calculator. Don't tell me your age; you probably would tell a falsehood anyway- but the Hershey Man will know! YOUR AGE BY CHOCOLATE MATH. This is pretty neat. DON'T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST! It takes less than a minute . Work this out as you read . Be sure you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out! This is not one of those waste of time things, it's fun. 1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to have chocolate (more than once but less than 10) 2. Multiply this number by 2 (just to be bold) 3. Add 5 4. Multiply it by 50 -- I'll wait while you get the calculator 5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1759 .. If you haven't, add 1758. 6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born. You should have a three digit number The first digit of this was your original number (i.e., how many times you want to have chocolate each week). The next two numbers are YOUR AGE! (Oh YES, it is!!!!!) THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2009) IT WILL EVER WORK, SO SPREAD IT AROUND WHILE IT LASTS. A traditional Indian story. The Story of Four Horse A man asked an American Indian what was his wife's name. He replied, "She called Four Horse". The man said, "That's an unusual name for your wife. What does it mean?" The Old Indian answered, "It old Indian Name. It mean, NAG, NAG, NAG, NAG!" A beautiful blonde teenager, wanting to earn some extra money for the summer, decided to hire herself out as a 'handy-woman' and started canvassing a nearby well-to-do neighbourhood. She went to the front door of the first house, and asked the owner if he had any odd jobs for her to do. 'Well, I guess I could use somebody to paint my porch,' he said, 'How much will you charge me?' Delighted, the girl quickly responded, 'How about £50?' The man agreed and told her that the paintbrushes and everything she would need was in the garage. The man's wife, hearing the conversation said to her husband, 'Does she realise that our porch goes ALL the way around the house?' He responded, 'That's a bit cynical, isn't it?' The wife replied, 'You're right. I guess I'm starting to believe all those dumb blonde jokes we've been getting by e-mail lately.' Later that day, the blonde came to the door to collect her money. 'You're finished already?' the startled husband asked. 'Yes', the blonde replied, 'and I even had paint left over, so I gave it two coats.' Impressed, the man reached into his pocket for the £50.00 and handed it to her along with a ten quid tip. 'And by the way,' the blonde added, 'it's not a 'Porch' it’s a cortina’. Another True Life Drama A woman asks her husband, 'Would you like some bacon and eggs? A slice of toast and maybe some grapefruit and coffee? He declines. 'Thanks for asking, but I'm not hungry right now. It's this Viagra,' he says. 'It's really taken the edge off my appetite.'? At lunchtime she asked if he would like something. 'A bowl of soup, homemade muffins, or a cheese sandwich?' He declines. 'The Viagra,' he says, 'really trashes my desire for food.' Come dinner time, she asks if he wants anything to eat. 'would you like a juicy rib-eye steak and scrumptious apple pie? Or maybe a rotisserie chicken or tasty stir fry? He declines again. 'No,' he says, 'it's got to be the Viagra... I'm still not hungry.' 'Well,' she says, 'Would you mind letting me up? I'm starving!
  14. 25 years ago had a fellow in the club done it ... like most of us. Now I either bind with Tape or glue. Haven't stitched for 25 years. Had a yearling hen bird once a few days late from a training toss. Was walking on it's wings when she trapped and ate. Both legs were ismashed to pieces. Worst was right at the to. I got a mate to hold her and matches and sellotaped her from top to bottom. Yes and left her to fend as I wasn't into hammocks etc. Was in two minds actually as to whether ... Well three weeks later took of the tape, yes pains takingly with saop water. Yes she wobbled about for a bit. But then hardly limped and flew Pau 2 years later. Knew she was full of guts .... like her brother, nigh certain first birds back.... never trapped though. After 3 or 4 generations I took Tom's advice and never bred fom them again. Break a legs... not a bad trait.
  15. ADVICE FROM A RETIRED HUSBAND: It is important for men to remember that, as women grow older, it becomes harder for them to maintain the same quality of housekeeping as when they were younger. When you notice this, try not to yell at them. Some are oversensitive, and there's nothing worse than an oversensitive woman. My name is Jim. Let me relate how I handled the situation with my wife, Terri. When I retired a few years ago, it became necessary for Terri to get a full-time job along with her part-time job, both for extra income and for the health benefits that we needed. Shortly after she started working, I noticed she was beginning to show her age. I usually get home from the golf club about the same time she gets home from work. Although she knows how hungry I am, she almost always says she has to rest for half an hour or so before she starts dinner.. I don't yell at her. Instead, I tell her to take her time and just wake me when she gets dinner on the table. I generally have lunch in the Men's Grill at the club so eating out is not reasonable. I'm ready for some home-cooked grub when I hit that door. She used to do the dishes as soon as we finished eating. But now it's not unusual for them to sit on the table for several hours after dinner. I do what I can by diplomatically reminding her several times each evening that they won't clean themselves. I know she really appreciates this, as it does seem to motivate her to get them done before she goes to bed.. ; Another symptom of aging is complaining, I think. For example she will say that it is difficult for her to find time to pay the monthly bills during her lunch hour. But, boys, we take 'em for better or worse, so I just smile and offer encouragement. I tell her to stretch it out over two or even three days. That way she won't have to rush so much. I also remind her that missing lunch completely now and then wouldn't hurt her any (if you know what I mean). I like to think tact is one of my strong points. When doing simple jobs, she seems to think she needs more rest periods. She had to take a break when she was only half-finished mowing the yard. I try not to make a scene. I'm a fair man. I tell her to fix herself a nice, big, cold glass of freshly squeezed lemonade and just sit for a while.. And, as long as she is making one for herself, she may as well make one for me too. I know that I probably look like a saint in the way I support Terri. I'm not saying that showing this much consideration is easy. Many men will find it difficult. Some will find it impossible! Nobody knows better than I do how frustrating women get as they get older. However, guys, even if you just use a little more tact and less criticism of your aging wife because of this article, I will consider that writing it was well worthwhile After all, we are put on this earth to help each other. Signed, Jim EDITOR'S NOTE: Jim died suddenly on February 7 of a perforated rectum. The police report says he was found with a Calloway extra-long 50-inch Big Bertha Driver II golf club jammed up his rear end, with barely 5 inches of grip showing, and a sledge hammer laying nearby. His wife Terri was arrested and charged with murder. The all-woman jury took only 10 minutes to find her Not Guilty, accepting her defense that Jim, somehow without looking, accidentally sat down on his golf club Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain

  17. Remember when we had classic concerns like the 'Great North Rd' which again ego and selfishness ruined and those called THEMSELVES the NRCC. Yes it is a joke. Likewise the Midland National, and just look at their boundries.... which again makes a mockery of the word 'National'. Yes false prestige and a conn. N.F.C. another joke with it's calling. Yes say others like the barcelona club for example is wide and diverse. No need to go on. Sprinters / middle distances birds allowed to be called 'Distance' winners, and arranges Noon libs to ensure true distance birds can't make it on the day. What a conn. Need one go on? Then just look at how some birds flying 2 to 3 hundred miles further are robbed of their true merit and the mettle they've made of. Because a sprinter hops over the channel first thing. Next day is a different day. Muscles are cramped or tired. Cooler water and air.... etc. and whilst ' Slick Nick and co, who have contrived as such, have their birds cosy in the nest, others then are actually battling or at least having to contend with.

All I suggested was that the MOD, site owner has the P.I.s etc. and list them , hence the ip would come up duplicate or more and no genuine poster needs more that one. So Thanks Vllance, and also Pigeonpete for throwing more light on this subject. Of course no norm member needs any others poster ip... except Numpty1 of course lol
  19. True Albear, but better than you were lol ;D But that covers the other reason, Family and wifes etc. Other than that.... All the good sites are been taken up by the Names lol.
  20. Lot od truth there Albear. Me, I'm more intered in the 'Location' that these national winners fly to. Fine if you are say on the coast in the North East, or in Louth, Ollerton, a member of the East coast clubs, like Lowerstoft in the NRCC. Every week nigh, on basketing night, most discuss the wind / conditions forecasted for the next day etc. We then 9 times out of ten know who will be in the shake up in the Club(s). We certainly know which club or flyers that will be topping the FED. Likewise on national day ... OK the NRCC won't release if there is any east in the wind.... But they do actually, because they have to... but if strong they come back a bit at least ... Never yet seen a good flyer move to the West when moving .... unless into another fed where he will be farthest East as posiible. Love a little quiddy when 'Named' flyers have bought their location. Yes of course they have to be top of their game. Yes to beat the others in that location. But in reality the fact is, whoever wins that club usually wins the National.... And direspect to them at all. often said 'The best bird on the the day wasn't the winner' and this is vey true quite a lot of the time.

Yeah, like Roland! Who'd want to hide behind that name lol. Realistically I see no problem with phusdo names.... just the cont they post sometimes. It is a fact, as this has been debated widely on most sites and not just here of course, many, yes quite a lot would post at all if they had to use their real name. This is for umpteen different reasons of course. So personally, I believe as and when a member joins his P.I Computer is noted and then placed by the mods on a page to themselves. Click in their 'Listing via their numbers etc. Then of course as soon as you click it again every time a duplicate would come up, regardless of the 'Name' used. I have a Diary for instance in aplphebet order. Likewise their P.c. listings then :-/
  22. Thanks to both Grasshopper and pigeonforce. Both I and the committee appreciate your good and worthwhile getsure Thanks again Roland

But we drew with the Aussies then. Think they are relieved that there was some rain eh! lol ;D ;D
  25. Feel for and with you paul, and all your's. You will love and care just the same, if not more so. I have a grandson the same. Like was 1lb and 8 ounzes when born prematurely. Could lay out comfortably between my wrist and elbow comfortably. Legs and arms smaller than my fingers... So of course he had a lot of catching up to do that is done normally in the womb. But genuinely he is a very happy little chappie. Great fun and never stops laughing... But of course there are hard, hurting times when basically he gets peeved and frustrated of course. When wanting from time to time now able to do as other children. Yes and heartaching questions he will ask. Luke, my grandson is 8 now, and in mainstream school. Great lad. Yes would change somethings of course... but would never be without him. Is a sauce of inspiration that puts so many to shame every day.
