  1. I've posted.like Tom that on this site. We spouted the properties. Great for Feathering, iron, ceansing blood etc. 4 inches off the top. Let simmer in saucepan and mix a with a 1rd to 2 rds water. Best to have left the water you are going to use over night.
  2. Light Feed and water.... into a Hospital Cage o it's own. If looking good a few miles up the road and released. If not, report first thing.
  3. Yes I certainly feel for you. Wanted their' chest treated with a salt and lard mixture each time out for exercise I'm afraid. Hopefully fanciers will start applying the mixture. Such a shame to die so needlessy in vain. Sad to say if they do have to ... The B.O.P. wouldn't have been back to day.

Alway great to see birds do well for their owners. Show comittment and the Pudding is eating well. Well done, all the endeavours bear fruitage.
  5. i thought all clubs did that automatically. have seen some refused before now. HAVE also seen a bird that most moaned about it's condition and that it didn't go to Bergerac. As the owner wasn't there I as the then president was asked to make a decision. Yes a white grizzle that had been 3 / 4 times before. Had - as most of his birds - been raced extensively. I knew it felt 'Hard' as to Corky and that it arried no excessive wieght. It went! Won Club and high placed else where. No that is what one has to look out for with some club members. I was rollicked for having a few lice on my birds. Told him to -*Well be quiet and go forth and multiply'. Yes I dominated the race next day. Still they say that the birds weren't in fine fettle :-/ :-/ One thing for sure, their feathering had to be first class.
  6. £20 the pair on the other one.... be a good offer to start of with. Indeed So £20
  7. Won't stop.... just the anti brigade making a point. Fair dues, no caring personally. If it comes about that I set mine up and 40 go missing in a season even ... is but short change to A. have a steal and advantage over those that don't have. And B. would be well worth a quid to let me know one strike more and out.... indeed 99% of the time Be better not to send the bird backkk just post the ring lol as that is worth more than the bird.... and cost of feeding it, clean up after it, and having it breed culls every flipping where lol ;D ;D ;D
  8. I don't know, as I've not bothered to take my ET set up out the box yet, but if the rings are Platic, or even metal, I'd wager super glue sticking them together would be of putting. What if one sells the birds? Then it is broken and raced... Rubber only I guess. No a sharp pair of snippets, a saw etc. would no doubt remove it.
  9. I don't for a minute believe that anyone is interested in the £1 etc. It is far more likely disgruntled fanciers disliking the smarmy way that ET's were brought in through the back door. No I don't wish to rehash all or ant pastence of what has happend. But it will continue to happen till attitudes die out, or changed.
  10. Gosh, for the sake of a quid eh! at least you know it was possibly fed and watered, that it HAD gone in anothers loft! So you have the priveledge ofdecided what action - if any - you wish to take. Used to put a phone number in the rubber saying fed and watered. NEVER ever had a reply to say 'Thanks'
  11. £100,000,000 pleadge each year + Bearements / wills etc. THEY like to be swilling at the trough. They can grease slimey hands even. mind, must admit, credit where credit is due, they - with the RSPCA - Came up with the Lard and salt mix. Mind it was used years earlier to erradicate nearly the Buzzards. Shamefully these birds don't drink water :-/ Terrible to repeat, yet many will needed to grease a chest or two before letting them out to exercise even. No of course they still exercise well.... but if unfortunate to be eaten, at least they will have deterred that bird, and it's mates most probably from pestering your loft again.
  12. Was a case on here just a few days back where Lead poison has about to kill a perry. Aparenty it swallowed it eating another bird.
  13. Also don't want the pigeon faternity to cop the blame.... But most likely will. personally of course it won't be missed.

    BARLEY

A blood purifyer. A good balance in a 'Mixed' feed. Must be careful not to feed only because what ptoperties it lacks, means the birds will over feed. Toxin poison then can be a real proble, Honest!
  15. Will i the morning. Fly around... up and down, but with confence will definately trap. Leave them in then for a few days to settle and get their confidence back. Good luck
  16. I'd scare them up on to the roof tops.... away from Cats.
  17. Must say Grasshopper, it is nice to see your kind offer, and you acting on behalf of a good cause. It is most appreciated, not just by me, the committee, but all those that care, who are concerned in regards our combined plights. Yes this is just the first step of many, (have so many others with birds and donations to sort out) Yes these are needed for a united, combined voice. And make no mistake, this will be a long drawn out and ardeous trek! Yes there is much to do, much to be said, and many actions to be started and supported. Hence the work being done and discussed behind the scenes so to speak. Hopefully a progress report will be sorted within a few days and placed before the Forum. Yes there is much to do, much to decide and agree up on. For example just what are the best ways forward, what will our Mandate be? What projections of feasible, and realistic goals and are our aims. We, for instance feel that 6 - 8 causes will be more than enough to be ablely done... others can and will be added as and when relevant and practical. No we don't have a soothing wand. But much imput and many shoulders are constantly asking to be at the wheel, wanting to be behind us, to help us. This only has to be good, and most appreciated So thanks again Grasshopper, it is needed, is appreciated, well done!
  18. Can only be done before any other posts, and within a certain frame limit.
  19. Well 100 - 200 miles can have very different weathers for Starters. The line of Flight may entail other reasons or problems, where they are heading may mean - and at different times, that they will hit / fly into adverse weather. Even making for 'hold overs'. Then where they are heading. Noon libs means for example middle distance - sprint birds even win so - called distance races. Now 20 miles to reach and fly miles over the channel - is far different to 220 miles to reach and fly over can well be a different kettle of fish Like the NRCC, regardless of their last denials, won't unless an absolute nesacity release with any East in the wind.... don't favout the East coast Club much. So other Feds and combines will release both sides and even from the shetland whereas the NRCC will hold.
  20. Don't think it's a cheek personally. Good luck to him. Besides if it does work, and is good and he / she made it free to any and every one, there will still be dozens of those read it that will ask 'Any good rememdies for y/b sickness' etc. ec. One either goes along with it or not, no matter. If it's a canker cure that will cost you 5p to clense your bird saliments, but a fiver to be sent the remedy - remember MOST make livings out of such things' and the paper arrives and says simply. Buy a box and matches and swabbed their throats - (there that a freebie for you that 99% will ignore too ) Would you all feel conned? :-/ Still go out and buy... So I put an advert in to many papers advertising 'Sure Quick way to make money.... One payment only of £25 and you will be set up for a regular in expensive earner' and dozens reply with their cards/ cheques. once cashed I send back and say 'Do as i did and advertise as i did' Legal and above board etc. Who will do it? No most would feel conned instead of doing it I feel.
  21. Terrible thing Bob. I feel for you. I know this is not the best time to say, but to others it may help of help, to show the wisdom of mixing a little lard with salt and smearing the birds with it! Just the chest would more than suffice. Yes of course I know it wouldn't have stopped the attack this time, but at least there will be some Percy's less to hinder your birds next time, and each time less, and so forth. Shamefully, their' lives are then not lost in vain so to speak. Harsh reality yes... But then the B.O.P. is just that.
  22. Never Mind the slaps on the back... how did the pigeons do? :-/ I. mean did HE beat you for starter? :-/ ;D ;D ;D
  23. Agree, this last season will definately be the last time I ever use any bowl, dandy or Pott or Plastic etc. Have dozens, but did half and half this year with just two bricks forming the square in the corner, and Bowls in the others. Those on bricks were far happier. Real content to watch over mate - above of course - on the house brick. Yes mostlt had half house bricks any way as a place to perch. So much easier to clean etc.
  24. Old timers always said - especially when I first starter up - every generation of unraced birds lose a bit more of the homing instinc. :-/ Inbreed may well cock it up but their instinc to home when out crossed only, will never lessen. Maybe the zest to race , but :-/
