I started to explain the length of the flight and the passport information, and then he interrupted me with, ''I'm not trying to make you look stupid, but Capetown is in Massachusetts '' Without trying to make him look stupid, I calmly explained, '' Cape Cod is in Massachusetts , Capetown is in Africa '' His response -- click. 3. A senior Vermont Congressman (Bernie Sanders) called, furious about a Florida package we did. I asked what was wrong with the vacation in Orlando He said he was expecting an ocean-view room. I tried to explain that's not possible, since Orlando is in the middle of the state. He replied, "Don't lie to me, I looked on the map and Florida is a very thin state!'' (OMG) 4. Finally, I told her the plane went fast, and she bought that. 7. A New York lawmaker, (Jerrold Nadler) called and asked, ''Do airlines put your physical description on your bag so they know whose luggage belongs to whom?'' I said, 'No, why do you ask?' He replied, ''Well, when I checked in with the airline, they put a tag on my luggage that said (FAT), and I'm overweight. I think that's very rude!'' After putting him on hold for a minute, while I looked into it. (I was dying laughing). I came back and explained the city code for Fresno , Ca. is (FAT - Fresno Air Terminal), and the airline was just putting a destination tag on his luggage.. 8. Finally, I said, ''Are you sure that's the name f the town?'' Yes, what flights do you have?'' replied the man. Ater some searching, I came back with, ''I'm sorry, sir, I've looked up every airport code in the country and can't find a rhino anywhere." ''The man retorted, ''Oh, don't be silly! Everyone knows where it is. Check your map!'' So I scoured a map of the state of New York and finally offered, ''You don't mean Buffalo , do you?'' The reply? ''Whatever! I knew it was a big animal.'' Now you know why the Government is in the shape that it's in! Could anyone be this DUMB? YES, THEY WALK AMONG US, ARE IN POLITICS, AND THEY CONTINUE TO BREED. I don't write it, I just offer it for your consideration. Like manure, you just gotta spread it around.

Well as many may recall, I've had a right shower of bad luck and what not over the last three / four seasons or so. Started with introducing new stock. That’s when CR$P came down the shoot big time. So what with one thing or another I struggled to stay interested, focused, and replaced all my old family. A new learning curve re – learnt was / is painful remembering much that later we take for granted, like you have to know your birds to take any liberties. Like no 35 miles first chuck perhaps. Any way I bred 40 youngsters. Lost many off the top. Started to train, real slow. Soon down to 16 youngsters. Then two chucks where the youngster hit torrential rain big time from 25 miles. But they came through it well as one. Picking days I progressed. Till I got 2 x 50-mile tosses this past week and they were coming a treat, 16 banging home as one. Indeed I told Joyce these were as good a batch as I've ever possibly had. Certainly in numbers as to the odd few we build upon. First time in 4 years I’ve been interested in pigeons and first week where I haven't wanted to pack up each day. I’d left the ET in box till this week never even bothered to open it … Mind wouldn’t have used it till all club members were using it as I won’t / don’t want unfair advantages. Yes that is how I have felt every day. Not getting any buzz or interest, feeling it was a waste of time and not even wanting to race. Only the thought that I'd know down the line I'd want them again stopped me getting shot of them all. Still they rested and lazed around Friday. So was happy going to the club, but said nothing of course but was actually looking forward to timing in and using the ET timer I had had set up in the week. It was just a 96 miler, a decent start and wing opener. Up at 6 50 and I force my self out of bed and set up the ET in the loft ready. Wasn’t really worried for a change later about going toilet or making a cuppa lol 9 0 ' Clock came and nary a sausage. 12 :30 same, not a feather. 3 : 30 nothing and I was off to London to do a fund – raiser. Got home early hours and checked me loft…. Nothing! Now here we next day, nary a feather, and I am well and truly peeved of in the highest degree … sorry not just disappointed but really deflated. Grumpy with Joyce and shouldn’t be, grand kids seem to be coming out of the woodwork, Missed all the World athletics so far and like a bear with a sore head. I know that’s pigeons! Mind to get shot and fill the lofts up with coal and wood for the winter. There! Now do I feel any better getting that of my chest? No!

So as most don't care to, or wish to do what the RSPB / RSPCA state is a proven deterrent, one must take other roads and avenues in regards our plight. RSPB too big and connected and will roll right over us. Maybe :-/ maybe not. Who won when David fought Goliath? The fellow from the council flat that took on abe beat McDonalds - albeit a few years etc. etc. Lets put straight on thing that a post stated RSPB have £21 million a year coming that £21.000.000 for emphasise. It's not. it is £100 million, that’s £100.000.000 for emphasise and another annual average of £21 million on average bequeathed. That doesn't make them above he law. That doesn't make them right.... granted they can grease a few palms and tickle a few ears.... However when a sensible and presentable body puts forth this to the general public, an explains just why they are donating this colossal sum to destroy the very thing that donate to protect I.e their garden birds, their countryside etc. etc. one will see that many will not tolerate this. I don't - personally - wish to follow others concerns, bodies down well-trodden paths leading to a brick wall. Further a poster stated that £30,000 - £45,000 for a P.R. Firm to act on our behalf and in our interests. This is in correct. The scale starts from 'Up to a £1000, and then around £15000 per annum to actually do every thing we feel is needed and should be done. There is so much more the P.O.B are devising and working on. But like the 'Hare and Tortoise' this will take time, effort and common sense with intelligent and worthwhile input from many different fields and slants and views. Then making the right, and all important decisions and following them through.

One of the best recommendations was a joint effeort arrived at by the RSPCA and the RSPB. They say simple that to use Goose Fat with a mixtue of salt rubbed well in the Neck, back and even breast. Goose fat is easily bought and obviously works. However common lard has the same affect. Doesn't hinder or hurt the bird of course. This detterent is, and has been proven time after time to be very effective.

SHERIFF JOE IS AT IT AGAIN! Oh, there's MUCH more to know about Sheriff Joe! Maricopa County was spending approx. $18 million dollars a year on stray animals, like cats and dogs. Sheriff Joe offered to take the department over, and the County Supervisors said okay. The animal shelters are now all staffed and operated by prisoners. They feed and care for the strays. Every animal in his care is taken out and walked twice daily. He now has prisoners who are experts in animal nutrition and behaviour. They give great classes for anyone who'd like to adopt an animal. He has literally taken stray dog s off the street, given them to the care of prisoners, and had them place in dog shows. The best part? His budget for the entire department is now under $3 million. Teresa and I adopted a Weimaraner from a Maricopa County shelter two years ago. He was neutered and current on all shots, in great health, and even had a microchip inserted the day we got him. Cost us $78. The prisoners get the benefit of about $0.28 an hour for working, but most would work for free, just to be out of their cells for the day. Most of his budget is for utilities, building maintenance, etc. He pays the prisoners out of the fees collected for adopted animals. I have long wondered when the rest of the country would take a look at the way he runs the jail system and copy some of his ideas. He has a huge farm, donated to the county years ago, where inmates can work, and they grow most of their own fresh vegetables and food, doing all the work and harvesting by hand. He has a pretty good sized hog farm, which provides meat and fertilizer. It fertilizes the Christmas tree nursery, where prisoners work, and you can buy a living Christmas tree for $6 - $8 for the holidays and plant it later. We have six trees in our yard from the prison. Yup, he was re-elected last year with 83% of the vote. Now he's in trouble with the ACLU again. He painted all his buses and vehicles with a mural that has a special hotline phone number painted on it, where you can call and report suspected illegal aliens. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement wasn't doing enough in his eyes, so he had 40 deputies trained specifically for enforcing immigration laws, started up his hotline, and bought 4 new buses just for hauling folks back to the border. He's kind of a 'Git-R Dun' kind of Sheriff. TO THOSE OF YOU NOT FAMILIAR WITH JOE ARPAIO. HE IS THE MARICOPA ARIZONA COUNTY SHERIFF AND HE KEEPS GETTING ELECTED OVER AND OVER. Way to go, Sheriff! Maybe if all prisons were like this one there would be a lot less crime and/or repeat offenders. Criminals should be punished for their crimes - not live in luxury until it's time for their parole, only to go out and commit another crime so they can get back in to live on taxpayers' money and enjoy things taxpayers can't afford to have for themselves.

Which I did. If those whom it was intended for, still can't see, or reason just how stupid and silly they made themselve, the I feel sad for them. Further I will like to add, I advocate us ALL to stop flying for two season, - on other site 10 years ago and regularly since as even posts on here will confirm. Stealth is still the key word of course and oppertunity.

Agree with the skilled campaign by professional Owen 100%. Hence why the P.O.B. is determine to get not only the 'Website' up and running ASAP. But as I have posted, a P.R. Firm is a must! A certainty! These concerns have ears to bend, avenues to political corridors etc. Have ways and means to get attention, and further will present a 'Respectable Face' to the media on all our behalves. Whilst of course songbirds will naturally also benefit, we must keep focused on our dilemma foremost. And much more of course some of which I am pleased to say is being quoted, and hence many have now the gist, and taken up a little leeway, slack out of our sails and together, and only banded together can we gain any inroads. As we strive forward we know there will be hopes raised and dashed. Set backs and disappointments will of course happen, but one step back and two forward is a darn site more than we will ever achieve sitting back and arguing amongst our selves. NOW that is a fact. Stealth is all so importance, because we have to be very careful not to undo all the hard work we have already done, and will continue to do, in this BOP Plight. I must also emphasise that any over concern, thoughts or action, endeavours roads other wish to go I am more than fine with. Let me assure you I would certainly never ever even think of causing despondency or nit pick. For as I feel personally our concerted efforts in the P.O.B. need to be coordinated and need all the support, both now and in the future, any other happening that helps, no matter how minor, must be of help. You know, if you cover the sides of any pillars,anything they'd have to climb on underneath the floor with cover sheets or strips of glass, they can't climb it, nor gnaw it. Will definately keep them out of the loft. Of course can land inside of the loft. But has to be really squeaky clean without so much as a pimple under it so it won't break. Glued down too if you so wish to stop any little bits of grit getting under the glass sheet / strips.

Setting the record straight. Firstly I am not speaking for or on behalf of the P.O.B body, That will become very very obvious. Indeed I am not able to having not any rights to. However, as a fancier, a forum member, who was part instigator of the P.O.B and what we ALL wish to see and achieve, I can’t sit idly by and see some stupid and egoistic tripe utter so often endeavouring to destroy the P.O.B before the wheels have hardly been set in motion. Yes this has been said far too often, and is there for all to see on open forum seeking to ridicule. Unfortunately their bleating is only tarnishing the very name of the ‘Fancy’ as a whole. I can copy and post countless posts from not only this site but a couple of others. Of course some will be up in arms to spout ‘Rubbish’ and try to disclaim these facts. But they can’t, for the simple truth is any efforts that may help is to be applauded. SHOULD be allowed to run it’s course. Trying to stifle others efforts is senile and in very bad taste. If you, for instance, don’t agree with whatever, can't see the way clear on it, then fine don’t subscribe, do the decent thing and allow others to stand up and be counted. Counted in peace and deserved quiet. Hence I feel that a comment or two is right in coming, if not way over due, to bring realism and truths to their’ endeavours to help us all with the B.O.P Plight affecting many, and soon every one. Ofcourse there will be a time soon admitted when all names will be revealed. One idiot often puts as a ob committee member, sad joke eh!Then their next sentence and stupid, unbelievable ploy of 'It is a secret society etc. and they don’t know, nor does any one else know who they are'. Now as most reasonable and sensible fanciers appreciate, there is a two-fold reason to remain behind closed doors, so to speak, for the time being. Though I must stress everyone of the committee is perfectly happy to be known. But they need protecting from the egos within. Yes the very ones they are trying to help, whether they appreciate it or not. And certainly from the likes of above! Just look at the posts of some on open forums! Some even stating that they will write and cause trouble for the P.O.B in the B.H.W. and such. Petty and silly! Why of course. Also that they will write and demand every thing about the P.O.B to be made known and public! I mean just who do these people believe they are. What rights, what enforcement? They aren’t, can’t and never will be any. Everything is, and will always be above board and legal The question they never ask themselves yet most certainly should is ‘Why’ do I, and my cliché wish to discredit, to hold them back, or ruin these others efforts’? Yes other genuine fanciers, hard working endeavours which they wish to tear in to tatters. No it surely can ever enter their head! Or they aren’t clever enough to psychoanalyse their intent AND own personal agenda. Nor does it obviously occur to them any harm that they wish to inflict upon the committee members and the consequences it has on the whole fancy as a whole. The ruining of yet another sound idea intended to help us all. And yet they wish these people to be named and held to their’ ridicule, persecution and belittlement. Simply put again these adgitators have no rights; for the committee is as of this moment not accountable to any person or bodies. So it is just berating and trouble making. These same people have their own agenda. Own thoughts of what they wish to achieve and their idea of the best way to go forward. Fine with me, and certainly with the level headed and sensible P.O.B. committee to let them go ahead with them. More than one road leads to Rome it is said. Of course it’s not their families, wives and kids that may well be coerced, badgered and frightened, and intimidated! But that seems not to matter to some whose ego demands them a voice to show of with. Have bought Website domains. Are searching for realistic and honest substance to be made available via such website. Are debating and considering the best P.R. Firm; a P.R firm that will answer question or queries on your behalf. One willing to be the ‘Face’ the media will see. A P.R. Firm putting yours and their thoughts, views, ideas forward in the best light. One having responsibility for any media publicity and promotions. Yet putting our Plight foremost with no allegiances to such as the RSPB and such. Further they are actively seeking a ‘Name’ or two for your cause. Endeavouring in seeing the way clear to obtain the best interests in an acceptable way. Further the board were under the impression that opening an account with just one signature would be attainable. Then adding extra signatures at a later stage would be in order. However, they are now in the process of setting up such an account where they can have any two signatures from four. This would invariably cover illness and holidays. Further it is a safe guard against temptation and / or manipulation of funds. Further one can rest assured that no ones money – except committee members own money, has been touch. Indeed payments are still lying dormant as explained why above. So senseless bleating and threats and uncalled for bias innuendos will continued to be totally for the best 'IGNORED'! The P.O.B is working. Iy is not seeking bad publicity, let alone calling from the likes of afore mentioned! They are seeking to gain trusts and credit, not just with the 'Fancy, but many others concerns in which many other parties can benefit. (The morronic Babbling of some egos and Cat calling certain doesn't help ANY cause when they view our site, and that is a shame, and a sad fact). A ‘face’ that the pigeon fancier deserves, deserve through countless years of helping and giving to good causes. The ‘War Years’ and what the nation owes, indebted and should appreciate. Why it is a great hobby for young and old alike. Not a senseless band of self-righteous egoistic gang loving to argue and be disruptive. This post needs no answers.
