  1. George, in my day Lanarkshire had the best race controller in Britain and taught me all I know regarding controlling races and that was Andy Durning who I am sure would not have liberated with virtually total cloudcover over most of England.
  2. These inland Nationals races used to be run successfully by Federations and the club result was usually over in an hour with the Fed in 30 minutes. This has all changed since the SNFC introduced a money making venture to the detriment of what it once stood for and changed the object of its foundation..
  3. To busy shouting "come back ya bassa" LOL Well done mate..

  10. I can hardly believe what I am reading here regarding what the RPRA recommend Are you aware that 44 sq ins = 6.1/2 ins.. 52 sq ins = 7.1/4 ins and 60 sq ins = 7.3/4 ins.. Most pigeons are between 8-10 ins from head to tail and could not turn round in that space.
  11. The Cheq Hen that paired up with the "Grand" must have had heart failure as she was lying dead in the garden yesterday evening. Having no Hens available in the racing loft I hastily lifted a spare Ellis [Dundee] Hen from the stock loft and they have taken to each other..No mourning period for Doos.. Looking at "Sandy's" problem had me asking myself ""Is Canker Hereditry"" The reason being 5 years ago I had an English pair which I had to treat for Canker and in their first round the youngsters from them had to be disposed off in the nest as they were full of it, The next round was exactly the same with not only the young having it but both parents had contracted it again so the were all bucketed..No other bird in the loft took it and when thinking back over the years the Newcombe birds had to be treated on a regular basis for the same problem. I am of the opinion that it is but still have an open mind..
  12. And to you Andy including all who are participating at the near 400 mark.
  13. I dont have a clue as to what it could be so if it was me I would sterilise a needle and puncture the growth and with a pair of tweezers squeeze out any pus if possible then take a cotton bud and send a sample of to Belgica De Weerde for analysis. If no pus then a pair of nail clippers and chop a piece off and send that to them.
  14. C'Mon then Sandy put us divits oot oor misery and tell ?????

  17. That's a guid observation
  18. The game was screaming out for Vardy to be playing with a Russian back four always in a static line. A long ball from defence would have had vardy running through them like a hot knife through butter. England should have won by a barrow load in my opinion. Wrong team selection as usual..
  19. This week-end with no racing has me sitting here contemplating my next move for Littlehampton !! To send or not to send is the dilemma. At Buckingham I managed to have 4 returned from the 6 sent with a yearling and 2 year old not making it, The Cheq Hen that was 20 minutes in front of all the trainers at 60 miles was my first bird in Buckingham to be placed 32nd in the Section unfortunately 7 minutes from making the Open result which really surprised me as I expected them to come either from the South to South West with the Easterly wind NOT the East but once again very few came through the Southern Uplands as only around 40 birds made the Open result into the West Section which included the Open winner so hearty congratulations to them in fulfilling their dream. My Cheq Hen being from Padfield stock introduced 3 years ago will hopefully be in the right frame of mind for the Gold Cup as at the moment unless I can get some serious training in this week from a 100 miles trainer she will have to be my only entry. I can see me sending a couple of yearlings this week which so far have done all I have asked of them and they certainly look the part. The "Grand" who returned minus his tail has been given Sedochol on his feed and his tail has grown in without any frets. I must admit I contemplated taking the advice given at the time by members on the forum to retire him but he has taken a new Hen and looks a million dollars, More a Dark Cheq than the Cheq he is, He will join my candidate birds for Ancensis which was the original plan. He along with others will have two 100 mile single up tosses within the next 10 days to bring their mileage up a bit being short of time on the wing. My youngters bred for the Young Bird National are coming along sweetly and should shortly be on the wing as I will not introduce any darkness system. Never Have an Never Will. NATURAL is the name of my game...
  20. Will that include the Central and Midland ??.
  21. The Irish had the solution with the 10 mile relay system !!.
  22. Down in Engerland at all National races, birds, when being rubbered are wing stamped with a 4 digit exclusive number and on arrival you MUST within 1 hour give time, ring number and wing stamp number. Failure to comply is automatic disqualification and no excuses are tolerated. Now what is wrong with that as it is the most secure way to stop any possibility of cheating.. Derek is correct as it removes DOUBT in a diplomatic way..
  23. P.M. sent.
