  4. Not had an update since 18.00 hrs Andy but spoke to Tiger who was at Tow Law and he was saying the temp was zero through the night and early morning. Brass monkeys came to mind !! :emoticon-0136-giggle:
  5. Still 9 members Derek after losing George Harris and Ian McLelland to Bonnybridge Forth & Clyde this year.
  6. Beautiful day and I started off kicking myself for not sending but that was the bosses decision and perhaps now that I have the returns for the club members I may have made the correct call after all. The winner in the club was Tam Jack with a 3 Year old Hen doing 1010, The next 5 positions went to Wattie Rollo. Returns are as follows 15 - 31, 5 - 25, 3 - 6, 3 - 10, 1 - 9, 1 - 4. I hope more make it back for the guys.

  8. Welcome back Tiger.
  9. Ah There are getlemen left in the sport after all, Thank You
  10. Bloody computer crashed so no entry unless you give me a second chance with having none away. HO HO I can imagine the reply to that request. !!!
  11. Whether I an right or whether I am wrong the birds will have another week off as I havent fed them all winter to throw them away in this weather for nowt. The very best of luck to all that send and I sincerely hope the weather breaks for you and the sun shines.
  12. Barometer dropped 8 millibars in the last 24 hrs. 2 in the last 2 hours and rain starting to fall. Does'nt look to good for the next 24 hours. Wind chill factor = 4c Wind North East.
  13. It's how they worked the system Steve and they worked it every race with a great deal of success in not only the club but the Fed and they were not in an advantagious position rather the opposite.
  14. I am still looking Andy !!. Pressure's on.
  15. Steve I have a good exterior Barometer and I keep a daily reading in my Diaries of which I can go back donkies years However in 2014 Sat 19th April = 17c. Fri 18th = 14c. 17th = 12c. 16th = 12c All East Winds.. 15th = 14c 14th = 14c. ETC ETC and in all those perfect temps that week I trained every day and dropped a total of 23 birds !! AYE so much for waiting till May coming which turned out on the 1st 4c wind East. To make it a little bit interesting the warmest day in April was the 29th when it was 22c wind South West.. 30th 8c = East some blinking drop EH !!
  16. For the record the first race 2015 Temp 12 wind, North East, I sent 26 and returned 26. First race 2014 Temp 17 wind, East, I sent 19 and returned 12. One reported Carlisle. 2013 Not sent. 2012 Not sent.
  17. To go or not to go... That is the question we must ask ourselves whether its the weather or not enough training whether its likely to be a holdover and miss the old firm game LOL. Me, personally will either send all the Yearlings and late breds for no other reason that I dont like to have a lot of birds as I cannot pick them out individually without having to look for the one I am after and would be quite happy with half the number I have. I get more pleasure sending one or two rather than fifty to a hundred as some do. But hey that is our perogative. Perhaps a little tip for those on roundabout as was told to me by the first people on it that I am aware off. Put two Hens in a cage "show pen type" and place in the middle of the floor in the Cock section then walk out the loft for thirty minutes.. Return and put both Hens back in their own section and put one cock in the cage and place it in the middle of the floor in the Hen section and leave the loft for another thirty minutes.. Basket the lot and off to the Club house. For those who have been following my Diary I will be looking for a hen sitting tight to-morrow afternoon the later the better as she wont want to leave her nest to let the Cock sit. Best of luck to all and remember its only a hobby and not life threatening or at least it is to some OMO..
  18. And SU 15 W 842 Came into mine in Camelon to-night Both are Fauldhouse birds.
  19. Lewis,I have to agree with Stevie. 1] Yes, Birds were lost around the loft mainly to the numerous TV ariels and you could drop them in a short toss. 2] Yes, If you were left with half your team you done well as their was no line of flight or mobiles to keep in touch with the covoyer. I never heard of anyone having to dispose to make room. 1/3 of Old and Young was the normal left in the loft at the end of a season in the 60s 70s 3] No, We did not have the expertise of vets and medicines so if they were sick they went in the bucket. 4] Yes, I used to single up from the A66 South or Perth North on occasion and have them all home.
  20. Aye but you have to admit Derek the birdage was treble then than now and I dont believe birds have evolved to be faster rather the opposite. Sure, we as fanciers are more knowledgable and read about potion this and potion that but is it not market hype whilst in our day you only had Old Hand and Johnstone's Tonic LOL Aye and put a slater down their throat. Perhaps I am in a time warp but that is where I am comfortable :emoticon-0136-giggle:
  21. And who is doing that Derek ?.
  22. Being aulder than you I might just pip ye fur them but being oot the gemme in Scotia fur a while ya micht pip me LOL
  23. Theory NAW Derek its a FACT but you do your thing and believe in theories I will stick to proven facts.
  24. In the UK it is only illegal to catch any bird in a Larson Trap that is not a Corvid with the exception in Scotland of the Jay and live bait can be used under strict instructions. www.THE TRAP MAN site gives all the information on the individual trapper. All the lovies of raptors and anti shooters would have you believe all the rubbish they spout.
