In or out of season? Short or long races? Young or old birds? To give you an idea, we feed 1 to 1 and a half ounces per bird per day during the racing season but use a variety of feeds over the week. Usually split over 2 feeds (in grams 30g - 45g)
-
Swainstons have a very nice looking 'Gerry plus' type feed..............

Do you mean rumour it's not funny :emoticon-0136-giggle:

Perhaps you wish to adopt the system in Malta - its the first in the clock that wins - no velocities, no distances - just the time......the furthest fliers just have to have the fastest pigeons to win !!

The last wicker basket I bought was at the Natural Granen station in the Netherlands Excellent quality - but was only a 10-12 bird (and only £18!!!) The last large one was from Boddy & Ridewood, which cost us £85, quality not brilliant. It has been repaired several times, this is our 10th year racing - we were given some second hand ones to start - so I wouldn't consider they're that old maybe 8 years
-
It isn't costing me a penny - I was hoping to save the club some money That £18 is PLUS £6 postage (making it - £24.... for a cable and a couple of crocodile clips - its daylight robbery)
-
I think £18 is an atrocious price for a bit of flex and a couple of crocodile clips! It is coming out of club funds - there should have been one in the box - (from a previous member) and there wasn't

From the Natural Granen site: contains Echinacea extracts increases the pigeon's resistance wholesome effect on respiratory, digestive and urinary tracts PH-value is kept in balance in a natural way increases resistance against diseases improves performances Available in: 1 L Concentrated Greens and Plant Extract Naturaline is a concentrated extract concocted from some fifteen varieties of selected plants and greens. Naturaline also contains Echinazea extracts that enhance the general resistance of the pigeon. In addition to its active ingredients, this extract contains many other substances that appear to contribute to the specific action of the treatments since they can accelerate or slow up their assimilation by the digestive system. Naturaline keeps pH-values naturally at the proper level. The component plants and greens of Naturaline have been carefully selected for their beneficial effects on the respiratory, digestive and urinary tracts. That is why pigeons that regularly receive Naturaline in their drinking water present a rosy skin, indicating that their blood is pure and free from toxins. Their plumage becomes glossy and displays a unique rich, creamy smoothness. Moreover, the pigmentation and lustre of the eye are heightened. These external signs reflect an optimal health, which enables the pigeons to better resist disease and improve their performance.

Where are you from - Mars? Do the town pigeons look like they could grace your loft Most I see, apart from missing toes, have drooping wings, canker nodules etc You've got your head in the sand if you think there is no paratyphoid about It is something you need, not necessarily to treat for - but certainly something you need to treat prophylactically for - oregano, acidic drinks etc.(citric acid, cider vinegar, Osmonds enviroboost) It is certainly circulating in the Up North Combine
-
Sorry to hear that - for anyone who does not know where Liverton Mines is - it is a small village approximately 15 miles north of Whitby between the Moor Road (A171) and the Coast Road (A174)
-
Ditto with the box of naturaline and a new scraper The £5 sample pack from Rohnfried - I was after probiotics which was £15 for 250g - so I got 100g of probiotics in with this - 100g of a natural respiratory mix and 500ml of a feed supplement - all for a fiver 1 litre of Ropa-b to put on the corn (rather than the water which I normally use)- the two year books (Squills etc) a 5 litre Enviroboost for a friend - 2 china mugs - sticks of rock and 2 cocks for the stock loft

Blakes is owned by somebody else now(has been for a couple of years)

I can only catch birds (even my own) in confined spaces - I'm just not quick enough so there is no way I would even attempt to catch a stray in a park or other open space - strays at home are always walked into a corridor

Mealies and blues of both sexes Had it been a mealie hen and blue cock - the mealies would have all been cocks - but its not!

Plenty of birds been clocked in, in the dark from Bourges - some of which must have flown all night to be clocked in at 4 in the morning doing nearly 1600ypm (because of hours of darkness) from a 1.00pm liberation, and they have certainly been clocked in at 10.30pm and 11.00pm - so not unheard of

And such a beautiful building

I think birds over indulge in Matrix - and drink too much water - I have always made my own up since buying one tub years ago(and the birds were too greedy so it didn't last long) It is much cheaper to buy the 20kg bag of grit + redstone - add a clay block to a few kg of grit + redstone, add some pink and black minerals with a small amount of oil (aniseed or other oil out of the kitchen cupboard) to bind and some small seed (canary or trapping)

Lugols iodine - varies greatly in strength - on eBay alone - and these are only the strengths I have been able to find - vary from 3% to 15% (with 7% and 12% also available) Although the above mention the strength - they do not mention any breakdown of the components The one I have I think is 2% iodine and 1% Potassium iodide. Does that constitute a 3% strength? The answer is 'I don't know' - to be truthful The instructions on the bottle I have states 1 teaspoon to a gallon (a teaspoon is usually 5 mls and a gallon is 8 pints - or 4.5 litres - so that is just under 1 ml per litre - 5/8ths of a millilitre to 1 pint - a 1ml syringe would give you an accurate dosing measure - I keep a variety of sizes of syringes for accurate measuring ) A US Gallon is smaller by the way
